HIGH GROUND VETERANS ADVOCACY
Strengthening veteran communities by training advocates and leaders 2018 was a year of growth for HGVA and our Fellows.
Six Fellows completed The Advocacy Experience A Continuing and Current Fellow, Doug Jackson and Scott Crawford) saw their policy proposals enacted into legislation. Lobsang (Mike) Salaka was selected for the VFW-SVA Legislative Fellowship, The Mission Continues Fellowship, and the inaugural cohort Ivy League Business Education for Military Veterans and Athletes. Continuing Fellow Robert Molina was selected for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. Fellow Maggie Seymour was selected as the the Adjunct Research Assistant at the Center for a New American Security for the Military and Veterans and Society Program.
Fellow Wesley Wilson was selected as one of the Top Ten Finalists for Student Veterans of America Student Veteran of the Year. We switched to a fundraising platform that carries no overhead saving x dollars. Total engagement on social media: 3 million, appx. 76,000 per month.
We added Maureen Elias, a Fellow in the inaugural course, as a Director.
