SITE ANALYSIS STUDY OF SITE Ahmedabad lies at 23.03°N 72.58°E in western India at 53 metres (174 ft) above sea level on the banks of the Sabarmati river, in north-central Gujarat. It covers an area of 464 km2 (179 sq mi). The Sabarmati frequently dried up in the summer, leaving only a small stream of water, and the city is in a sandy and dry area. However with the execution of the Sabarmati River Front Project and Embankment, the waters from the Narmada river have been diverted to the Sabarmati to keep the river flowing throughout the year, thereby eliminating Ahmedabad's water problems. The Riverfront project presents a great opportunity to create a public edge to the river on the eastern and western sides of Ahmedabad. By channeling the river to a constant width of 263m, riverbed land has been reclaimed to create 11.25 kms of public riverfront on both the banks. The total land reclamation is 202.79 hectares.

The project aims to create a thriving, people-centric network of parks, waterside promenades, markets, cultural and recreational facilities in the heart of Ahmedabad, making the city’s riverfront a public asset. The key feature of this project is a two-level, continuous promenade at the water’s edge along each bank of the river. Together, these promenades provide Ahmedabad with a 11.5-km long pedestrian walkway in the heart of the city. Ghats punctuate the lower level promenade at planned intervals to provide access to the water. Boating Stations at the lower level enable water recreation and offer a water-based mode of public transport in the future. In addition, many new parks, gardens and sports facilities are being built on the reclaimed land. The parks shall enhance livability in the area that they are located in and strengthen the city’s green network.

CLIMATE Ahmedabad has a hot, semi-arid climate with marginally less rain than required for a tropical savanna climate. There are three main seasons: summer, monsoon and winter. Aside from the monsoon season, the climate is extremely dry. The weather is hot from March to June; the average summer maximum is 43 °C (109 °F), and the average minimum is 24 °C (75 °F).

WHAT MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO PREVENT FLOODING? The selected design of the embankments will be capable of handling the annual river floods. These have been built by smoothening out the banks and by building walls along the riverbank. The concrete walls will stop erosion of the banks and protect property as well as structures along the banks.

WILL THE LOWER LEVEL OF RIVER PROMENADE EVER BE FLOODED? The River Promenade at the upper level has been built tall enough so as not to be affected by 100 year floods, but in any other circumstance, the lower level of the River Promenade infrastructure planned and implemented for the lower promenade includes basic and minimal infrastructure such as railings along the riverbank edge, a paved walkway, benches and trees.

SITE ANALYSIS SITE SURROUNDING

Sabarmati river has been an integral part in the life of Ahmedabad since the time the city was founded in 1411 along the river banks. Besides being an important source of water, it provided a backdrop to cultural and recreational activities.

CONCEPT Solitude gives you the break to reflect, to contemplate and to assimilate .Solitude is the joy of being alone and is empowering. Solitude dream, a place where you will be enjoying being alone and that place will remove us from the mindless humdrum of our everyday life . Go there when you need to be free Go there when you need to heal, Go there to find yourself. WHY SOLITUDE DREAMS - I choose the name solitude dream as my thesis title because I want do design a place where the people who are in solitude or let say in a mode of solitude can get relief by taking part in different activities related to there hobbies or by having a walk through nature and many other activities. The purpose is also to design a place where a person can enjoy all alone in between a huge public gathering. So, the main concept is to create an public realm, that has the ability to abolish people from these busy streams of thought /break there long screen time/ introduce an element of play in their busy urban life. To achieve this goal following objectives were planned : • • • •

Should be a vibrant part of the streetscape. Should be open/accessible for people to be part of. Uses fun/fresh/digital mediums to engage. Should be able to connect a wide age groups.

A different perspective to understand maze - The maze refers to a broader perspective, beyond art appreciation – it offers a new way of thinking. The combination of elements allows you to disconnect from your routine, offering your brain a ride. Nevertheless, in this journey the objective is not to get you lost through the labyrinth, but instead, you would be able to force yourself taking new routes different from the same regular path. Throughout this journey, you will discover new places, new feelings and new sensations. Moreover the main path is always and at any moment available to be taken. Therefore, the A maze purpose is to force yourself to disconnect and relax, walking through the nature.

Now to design a huge place with all these activities which include some silent zone and some with huge public gathering so I divide my site in three parts which include different activities as maze because maze also make you think where to go and same thing will going to happen in solitude dreams. Architectural plans are the formulas that organize space, sculpt mass, and dissect distances every building designer, depending on their own distinct aesthetic, finds different ways to arrange the inner workings of the built environment with this in mind. Italian illustrator Federico Babina has realized some compositions that abstract floor plans of some of the most well known architects in the world. Abstracts elements of asymmetry and symmetry, curved and straight lines, solids and voids, light and shadows – each which form a unique built environment. Solitude dream should have different activities which can entertain all age groups which include children, adults and the elderly can come together to enjoy the fun of play, the diversity of lifestyle, and the vibrancy and energy of the urban environment.

BUNGALOW PLANNING

BUNGALOW PLANNING PLACE: Surat

TYPE: Residential projects. ROLE: Concept development , drafting of plan and draw 3d drawings EXPERIENCE GAINED: • In this planning I was helped by an architect and my colleague . Sir give me a path to start the planning and to develop a concept . • As the plot size was small and covered by 3 sides and sir philosophy is to give more and more open spaces . • Minimalism housing technique were applied. • Creation of double height in the residence gives the possibility of flowing of spaces and brings in light • In any furniture arrangement the circulation should be considered to minimize the wastage of area. • Various options for the staircase positions were tried out. • Planning according to vastu. • Planning was done in level to use the space efficiently and main concept was to give open space for every room. • Double height living area were proposed as it in creases the area of space. • The access of terraces from the inside rooms and their interconnectivity was studied. • Multileveled terraces give us the options of the terrace gardens • Square pattern of the rooms increases the negative spaces. • Rectangular rooms increase the efficiency of the rooms.
