The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Welcomes New Staff Members
Robin Melton, Resource and Marketing Director
Dr. Kimberly McNeal, Family Life and Education Center Director
As the Grand Opening of the Kroc Center draws near, The Salvation Army continues to add distinguished professionals to the staff. Robin Melton, Resource and Marketing Director, and Dr. Kimberly McNeal, Family Life and Education Center Director, are both welcome additions to the Kroc Center team. An experienced professional in the field of non-profit marketing and development, Robin Melton has lived in the West Pullman community her entire life. As the Resource and Marketing Director, Melton handles community relations, membership services and oversees fundraising efforts to help sustain the Center and its many programs. “My daughter and I have been watching the facility being built, waiting with great anticipation,” said Melton. “The Center has many purposes and will fulfill so many needs in our communities, but the most prominent in my mind is to provide much needed activities, resources, development and cultural experiences to our youth that they would not otherwise receive or have access to.” Dr. Kimberly McNeal is also a resident of the West Pullman Community. As Family Life and Education Director, Dr. McNeal will help Kroc Center members pursue their personal and professional goals. A former principal at several Chicago area schools, Dr. McNeal was drawn to The Salvation Army’s mission of “Doing the Most Good.”

The Salvation Army Holds Job Fair at Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center
Job applicants are interviewed by Kroc Center staff. The Salvation Army continues the process of hiring talented and vital employees to ensure the success of day-to-day Kroc Center operations. The goal of the job fair was to fill a variety of positions at the newly completed Kroc Center, including maintenance workers, child care providers and Day Camp staff. The Kroc Center created 220 construction jobs during its two-year construction phase. Once open, it will create more than 200 permanent, full- and part-time jobs. The Kroc Center will provide job readiness and training programs. It is also expected to improve the economic stability of the surrounding neighborhood. Like Kroc Centers in other cities, the Chicago Kroc Center is expected to attract new business, create hundreds of jobs, increase economic stability and lower crime rates.
The Salvation Army in Chicago and the Nation The Salvation Army is the largest social service organization in the world and the single largest direct provider of social services in Chicago and the State of Illinois. The Army operates 200 points of entry in neighborhoods across the greater Chicago area, providing disaster relief, shelter, meals, rehabilitation programs, child care and head start, senior services and more. On any given night, about 900 people are sleeping under a Salvation Army roof. In 2010, The Army celebrated 125 years of service in Chicago. The Salvation Army is there every day, 24-hours-a-day in Chicago and throughout the country providing disaster relief to people in crisis. The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center represents the largest single investment ever made by a social service organization in Chicago. The Salvation Army is already making a significant impact in the lives of children and families on the Far South Side of Chicago. A contribution to the “Give Hope” campaign supports both the construction of the Kroc Center and the endowment, which will provide operational stability, funding for programs, program scholarships, and materials such as sports equipment and musical instruments. It will also guarantee equal access to the Kroc Center for every child and adult for generations to come. For more information about how to support the “Give Hope” campaign, please visit our web site at www.kroccenterchicago.org or email Robert_Bonesteel@usc.salvationarmy.com or call (773) 205-3550.
