LEARN-TO-SWIM CLASSES
AQUATIC CENTER RULES The rules in this section apply to all areas of the Aquatic Center. Lifeguards are responsible for enforcing guidelines and any additional rules which in their judgment will help to maintain a safe environment. Failure to adhere to these and any other rules and policies may result in disciplinary action.
GETTING STARTED There are five levels in the Learn-To-Swim Program. Each level includes the teaching and assessment of swimming and water safety skills. Students are moved through the progressive levels as they accomplish the skills required at each level. Please note that a student may remain at the same level for multiple sessions until they master the skills necessary to advance to the next level. The lessons are taught in small group classes by Certified American Red Cross Instructors and Aides. Kroc Instructors make swimming lessons fun and help students develop both swimming skills and self confidence. Swim lessons range from 25–45 minutes in length. Five minutes are given between lessons to enter and exit the pool. For maximum efficiency, please be on time and dressed in swimwear prior to the lesson start time. Please remember to bring a towel.
• Please shower before entering pool. Persons who leave the pool to use the restroom must shower before re–entering. • Infants and toddlers are required to wear swim diapers. Children who are not toilet trained are required to wear approved swim diapers and plastic pants. • Any person having an infectious or communicable disease shall be excluded from using the pool. Patrons with open blisters, cuts, etc. are warned that these are likely to become infected and are advised not to use the pool. • The pool will immediately close in the event of an accidental pool contamination and will not re–open until proper water quality standard is restored. • No spitting, spouting water, blowing the nose, etc. in the pool.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT SWIM CLASS 1. AGES 2–5: First time in a swim class. Enroll your child into a “Tiny Tots” class. In a fun atmosphere, and with a little help from mom and dad, we help your child become comfortable in the water. 2. AGES 3–5: Children should be willing to enter the water without parents, support themselves by holding onto the pool wall, be willing to get their faces wet, and be able to follow simple instructions. Enroll your child into “Preschool” class. This course introduces children to the basic skills that are used in progressive classes in our swim program. 3. AGES 4–10: Enroll your child in a “Level One” through “Level Five” class. Please read each class description and place your child in a swim level that best fits their swimming ability. NOTE: While we understand that some children are natural swimmers and can perform advanced skills for their age level, we recommend that your child stick with their age group to develop all the necessary swimming skills before moving to the next swim level.

FACILITY AND CLASS SCHEDULE AVAILABLE AT THE MEMBER SERVICES DESK OR ONLINE AT WWW.KROCCENTERHAWAII.ORG. Open gym is free to members. Guest passes are available for non–members on select days. $16/$12 per day (Adult/Youth). See guest pass policy on website for restrictions.
GYMNASIUM POLICIES PICKUP GAME POLICY Pickup basketball and volleyball are designed for adults ages 18 and over to play a few friendly games. Players under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian present in the gym at all times. If there are multiple players or teams are waiting, a wait list will be created in the kiosk by the Gym Attendant to sign up your team for the next game. This will allow an organized way for teams to compete. The next team on the list will be on the side of the court keeping score. BASKETBALL: Games are to 21 by 1’s and 2’s. Since there are no official referees on–site for basketball, players will have to call their own fouls and ref their own games. No shooting free throws, as fouls will be taken out at half court.
VOLLEYBALL: Minimum of 6 players. Games are to 21. Next team will ref the game by calling serve, net violations, and provide two (2. line judges. To allow everyone the opportunity to compete, the winning team will stay on the court for a maximum of two (2) consecutive games. On their second win, the losing team will stay on and the winning team can be placed back on the wait list in the kiosk. Come join other adults who wish to play sports in an atmosphere that is compliant with The Salvation Army policies and procedures of Kroc Center Hawaii. The Kroc Center Hawaii Athletic Center has a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY — NO CUSSING OR FIGHTING. Players who do so will be dismissed immediately from the Athletic Center and be asked NOT to return until the next day. Kroc Center Hawaii memberships can and will be revoked if deemed necessary by the Member Services Desk.
