The Arts Advanced Contemporary - HYBRID

Intermediate Contemporary - HYBRID

Contemporary is a postmodern form of dance that rebels against the rigid rules of Classical Ballet and Modern. By nature, it's movements and shapes are pedestrian in nature, but it also incorporates forms of ballet, modern and jazz. Advanced dancers, along with teens and adults will explore the process of turning emotions into a 3D artform, relying on shapes created by their own training and experience. We welcome seasoned professionals and new dancers alike to this class, where focus is on the individual, rather than a group of matching dancers. Min. 6; Max. In person: 9, Online: 20

Contemporary is a postmodern form of dance that rebels against the rigid rules of Classical Ballet and Modern. By nature, it's movements and shapes are pedestrian in nature, allowing everyone access to the art form. It also can incorporate forms of ballet, modern and jazz. Contemporary is often used to convey a feeling or message, but in a highly individual way. For new dancers, this offers an opportunity to not feel like their ability and dance needs to match anyone else's. This introductory level class is all about you being you, and dancing with joy in your heart. Min. 6; Max. In person: 9, Online: 20

Advanced Improv - HYBRID

Beginner/Intermediate Improv - HYBRID

Improv was first used in the 60's and 70' as a response to the highly choreographed nature of classical dance. Improv in its simplest form is spontaneous movement. Dancers and non-dancers alike find this class to be inviting, fun, and a positive way to reinforce that there is no wrong movement in art. Students will explore various techniques in an age appropriate way, without the need for any formal dance training at all. This class is excellent for tweens, teens and adults who want to explore movement, but have never had training. For trained dancers, this will be a chance to define their own artistry and movement qualities, elevating all of their performance capabilities. Emphasis may be placed on using improv as a form of choreography, warm up and storytelling through movement. Min. 6; Max. In person: 9, Online: 20
