Taking Action

Did you know Adams County was labeled the most obese county in the state of Illinois? The goal of the ACTION (Adams County Taking Initiative on Obesity Now) Program is to remove the label of Adams County being the most obese county in Illinois and progress towards a healthier future!

What is the ACTION Program?

ACTION Program participants will receive free access to The Kroc Center or the YMCA for a 10-week period contingent on meeting program requirements. ACTION participants must choose one facility. Participants will have the opportunity to attend free health seminars, and gain free access to educational information on fitness, wellness, and nutrition.

Who can participate?

The ACTION Program is open to all Adams County, IL residents and to anyone employed in Adams County. Participants (ages 8+) must stay committed throughout the 10-weeks in order to continue in the ACTION Program.

How does the ACTION Program work?

During the ACTION Kick-Off, participants will weigh in, receive a body composition report, and get workout cards and participant codes to the facility of their choice.

The workout cards will have the first and second week’s suggested exercises. After the first two weeks, participants who have visited their workout facility at least once per week, will be issued a workout card for weeks three and four, and so on. For best results, participants are encouraged to exercise more than once a week.

Required body composition reports and check-ins will be on weeks one, five, and ten. Participants must stay committed throughout the 10-week program continue to receive free access to The Kroc Center or YMCA.
