Orange ! Kronometry 1999 a toujours été précurseur dans la création de séries limitées. Les premières utilisaient la couleur orange et furent parmi les plus demandées. Après quelques années de bleu, de rouge ou de jaune, j’ai décidé pour cette année 2012 un retour aux sources avec la reprise de notre couleur des débuts, le orange donc. Vous découvrirez dans ce numéro deux éditions limitées créées pour Kronometry 1999. C’est une première pour nous avec ces deux manufactures, Richard Mille et Romain Jerome, et le moins que l’on puisse dire c’est qu’elles nous ont gâtés. En effet, chaque base de ces séries exclusives est une nouveauté, la RM 030 pour Richard Mille et le Chrono Moon Dust pour Romain Jerome. Une 3ème série limitée Kronometry 1999 réalisée par Hublot vous sera dévoilée dans notre prochaine édition. Elle sera… Spectaculaire ! Et elle aussi basée sur une nouveauté 2012. Vous pourrez découvrir dans cette édition les principales nouveautés de la Foire de Bâle 2012 qui aura été un bon cru. Nouveautés innovantes, collections compactes, familles de produits bien identifiées et surtout délais de livraisons clairs et précis : des signes qui laissent présager une très belle année et beaucoup d’animations dans nos vitrines. Harry Winston reprend la main sur les montres féminines et frappe à nouveau un grand coup avec l’Opus 12, Zenith étale toute la puissance de son passé horloger dans le très haut de gamme tout comme le milieu de gamme et cette année encore, Hublot prend tout le monde de vitesse avec pléthore de nouveautés. Mais mon coup de cœur ira à Romain Jerome qui, à travers la collection courante mais aussi ses concepts Watch à venir, m’a mis des étoiles plein les yeux. Les manufactures ont fait preuve d’une telle créativité qu’il a fallu ajouter des pages à cette édition pour vous en montrer le plus possible. Notre prochaine édition sera festive puisqu’il s’agira du numéro 60 ! Inutile de vous rappeler à quel point je suis fier de ce succès et du fait que Kronometry 1999 est le seul détaillant au monde à vous

proposer un tel magazine depuis aussi longtemps ! Enfin, cette K News du printemps marque l’ouverture de la saison pour les magasins du sud. C’est une période que j’affectionne particulièrement, signe du retour du soleil et de préparatifs pour toujours mieux vous accueillir.

Limited to 150 pieces, the Royal Oak Offshore Tour Auto 2012 Chronograph has an elegant sporty look with blue as its dominant colour. The steel case houses a self-winding mechanical movement with a 55-hour power reserve. Its white dial with a «Méga Tapisserie» pattern shows the date at 3 o’clock, blue chronograph counters at 6 and 9 o’clock, matching the numerals, chronograph push-buttons and strap. The Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph comes in a special Tour Auto 2012 presentation box. Limited edition of 150 pieces. Water resistant to 100 m.

En effet, la RM 030 signe le renouveau de la ligne « 3 aiguilles ». Ces dimensions surplombent tout ce qui s’est fait jusqu’à présent pour imiter celles du Chrono RM 011.

Giga Tourbillon ronde squelette Après l’immense succès remporté par la Giga Tourbillon en 2011, la Maison Franck Muller nous gratifie en 2012 d’une nouvelle pièce d’exception présentée en exclusivité pour la World Presentation of Haute Horlogerie (WPHH), la Giga Tourbillon ronde squelette. Toujours dotée d’un tourbillon de 20 mm de diamètre occupant la moitié de la montre et précieusement logé dans un boîtier en or blanc 18k de 45 mm de diamètre, la pièce offre un design classique et épuré grâce à ses lignes rondes et son fin squelettage. Le mouvement a pour l’occasion été inversé : les ponts se retrouvent ainsi côté cadran, la partie de mise à l’heure et du remontoir côté fond tandis que l’aiguille des heures se situe sur celle des minutes. Afin d’assurer une réserve de marche de 10 jours, affichée à 12h, la Giga Tourbillon a été enrichie de deux paires de barillets, contrairement aux tourbillons classiques qui en possèdent généralement seulement un ou deux. Les barillets d’un diamètre de 16 mm - c’est-à-dire 4 mm de plus que les barillets classiques procurent une force quasi constante nécessaire au fonctionnement de la Giga Tourbillon. Avec ce modèle au design unique à la fois sobre et imposant mais toujours aussi épatant d’un point de vue technique, la manufacture Franck Muller confirme sa maîtrise de l’héritage horloger suisse dans le domaine très complexe des grandes complications. Giga Tourbillon Round Skeleton Following the resounding success of the Giga Tourbillon in 2011, Franck Muller has now gratified fans with an outstanding new model presented exclusively at the World Presentation of «Haute Horlogerie» (WPHH) : the Giga Tourbillon Round Skeleton. Again featuring a tourbillon 20 mm in diametre occupying almost half of the watch and preciously housed in an 18-carat white gold case 45 mm in diameter, this timepiece offers refined and classic design with a round shape and finely skeletonized details. In this model, the movement has been reversed : the bridges are to be found on the dial side, the hour-setting and winding section on the case-back, while the hour hand is positioned on top of the minutes hand. In order to ensure a 1-day power reserve, indicated at 12 o’clock, the Giga Tourbillon has been fitted with two pairs of barrels, in contrast to classic tourbillons which usually have only one or two. These barrels, 16 mm in diameter (ie. 4 mm wider than classic ones) provide the almost constant power required to drive the Giga Tourbillon. Thanks to this model with its unique design, sober, sophisticated, but also dazzling from a technical point of view, the Franck Muller Manufacture confirms its mastery of Swiss watchmaking traditions in the extremely complex field of «grandes complications». Big Bang Ferrari Magic Gold Fruit du partenariat annoncé en novembre dernier entre Hublot et Ferrari faisant de la manufacture suisse le partenaire horloger exclusif du célèbre constructeur italien, la Big Bang Ferrari Magic Gold a été dévoilée début mars lors de la foire de Bâle. Limitée à 500 pièces, elle devient ainsi la première montre développée avec Ferrari. Qui dit partenariat d’exception, dit garde-temps d’exception ! The iconic design of the illustrious Big Bang has evolved for the first time since it was launched in 2005. Les chiffres sont impressionnants et le résultat est époustouflant : un total de 1282 diamants, plus de 100 carats de diamants baguette, 6 pierres taille émeraude carrée pesant plus de 3 carats chacune et 14 mois de travail tous corps de métiers confondus dont 7 mois pour les 12 tailleurs et le même temps pour les 5 sertisseurs. Pour créer cette pièce, Hublot a choisi une approche différente. Alors que la tradition veut que l’on réunisse d’abord les diamants et dessine ensuite la pièce qui pourra les mettre en valeur, les diamantaires de Hublot ont fait l’inverse. Ils sont partis d’un dessin pour trouver les diamants qui pouvaient correspondre le mieux à la construction de ce boîtier en or blanc 18k de 44 mm de diamètre serti pour sa part de 302 diamants baguette. Plus d’une année de recherche aux quatre coins du monde aura été nécessaire pour trouver toutes les pierres qui parent cette splendide « $ 5 Million ». La couronne est majestueusement sertie de 12 diamants baguette et un diamant taille rose tandis que le cadran en or blanc 18k est pavé de 179 diamants baguette. Le bracelet en or blanc 18k n’est pas laissé pour compte puisqu’il est serti de 782 diamants et 6 diamants taille émeraude carrée. Que dire de plus ? Le résultat parle de lui-même, Hublot réalise tout simplement, mais non sans effort, une pièce de Haute Joaillerie absolument magistrale. 5 Million Dollar A real star-burst !!! Hublot has pushed back the boundaries of preciousness with its latest «Haute Joaillerie» creation, the unique and dazzling «5 Million Dollar». The figures are impressive and the result quite breathtaking : a total 1,282 diamonds, over 100 carats of baguette diamonds, 6 square emerald-cut stones weighing over 3 carats each, and 14 months of dedicated work all crafts combined, including 7 months for the 12 stone-cutters and the same for the five gemsetters. To create this masterpiece, Hublot adopted a new approach. While tradition decrees that diamonds are assembled before the watch is designed in order to show them off to their best advantage, Hublot’s diamond-cutters did the opposite. They started with the design, then searched for the diamonds which would best suit the construction of this case in 18-carat white gold, 44 mm in diameter, set with 302 baguette diamonds. It took over a year of searching in all four corners of the world to find all the stones which adorn this splendid «5 Million Dollar». The crown is majestically set with 12 baguette diamonds and a rose-sized diamond, while the 18-carat white gold dial is paved with 179 baguette diamonds. Also in 18-carat white gold, the bracelet hasn’t been neglected : it is set with 782 diamonds and 6 square emerald-cut diamonds. What more can one say ? One of Ulysse Nardin’s flagship models has undergone a metamorphosis. The genteel and docile Sonata here assumes a «bad boys» look. A «body-builder» black DLCcoated titanium case, inserts in 18-carat rose gold or black ceramic depending on the version, a black open-work dial and sporty strap adorn the new-comer. With the Titanic’s 100th anniversary on the horizon, RJ-Romain Jerome has enriched the collection dedicated to the liner with a new model offering a sturdy, raw and imposing personality. Housed in a 50-mm case, the Steampunk Chrono has no dial, thus enabling the spectator to admire its self-winding mechanical chronograph movement. Embodying the signature codes which have ensured the success of the Titanic-DNA collection, it comes with the famous bezel in oxidised and stabilized steel, obtained from the extraordinary fusion between metal taken from the legendary wreck and that provided by the shipyard which built the Titanic 100 years ago. The bezel is held in place by four «claws», in red gold or black PVD-coated steel depending on the version, each one limited to 2,012 pieces. RJ-Romain Jerome dévoile un nouveau garde-temps équipé d’un mouvement chronographe mécanique à remontage automatique, le Chrono Moon Dust. Issu de la collection Moon Dust-DNA, il est muni de la fameuse lunette revêtue de fibres de carbone dont l’âme est forgée à partir de pièces détachées d’Apollo 11. A l’occasion de la foire de Bâle, Harry Winston a dévoilé le 12ème volet de sa saga Opus placée sous le signe de l’innovation, de l’avant-garde et du mystère. Fruit de la collaboration entre le créateur Emmanuel Bouchet, le designer Augustin Nussbaum et la Maison Harry Winston, l’Opus 12 défie les règles conventionnelles de l’horlogerie, donnant naissance à un concept mécanique des plus improbables. Sur l’Opus 12, le temps ne s’écoule plus via une paire d’aiguilles positionnées au centre du cadran mais par un entrainement périphérique de 12 paires d’aiguilles partant de la circonférence vers l’intérieur. Une aiguille rétrograde synchronisée avec l’aiguille principale des minutes avance ainsi le long d’un secteur de 5 minutes. En fin de course, elle vole en arrière et retrouve sa position initiale tandis que l’aiguille longue des 5 minutes pivote et se met en place. Alors qu’habituellement l’évolution du temps est imperceptible, l’Opus 12 entre quant à elle remarquablement en action, ses aiguilles effectuant un changement de garde toutes les 5 minutes. A chaque changement d’heure, le mouvement exécute un exercice de drill très élaboré, de par la rotation successive des aiguilles. Le spectacle est saisissant ! Chacune des 12 aiguilles présente une face bleue quand elle affiche le temps et une face neutre lorsqu’elle n’est pas en mouvement. En contrebas de l’affichage rétrograde, une petite seconde flottante graduée sur une baguette translucide passe audessus d’un indicateur de réserve de marche de 45 heures. Pour remonter ce mouvement mécanique, il suffit de tourner la couronne à contresens pour armer simultanément les deux barillets, l’un fournissant l’énergie au mouvement et l’autre à l’animation. Ce mécanisme absolument surprenant est précieusement logé dans un boîtier en or blanc 18k poli de 46 mm de diamètre. Avec cette Opus 12, Harry Winston repousse une nouvelle fois de manière époustouflante les limites de la réinterprétation du temps. At the Basel watch and jewellery fair, Harry Winston raised the curtain on the 12th chapter in its Opus saga, under the sign of innovation, mystery and the avant-garde. Born of the collaboration between watchmaker Emmanuel Bouchet, designer Augustin Nussbaum and the House of Harry Winston, the Opus 12 defies all conventional rules of watchmaking, coming up with the most improbable mechanical concept. With the Opus 12, time is no longer read by means of a pair of hands positioned in the centre of the dial, but by a peripheral drive system with 12 pairs of hands pointing inwards from the circumference. A retrograde hand synchronized with the main minute hand thus advances over a 5-minute sector. As soon as it reaches its destination, it flips back to its initial position, while the long 5-minute hand pivots and moves into place. While normally the evolution of time is imperceptible, the Opus 12 goes into action in a remarkable way, its hands «changing the guard» every five minutes. With each change of the hour, the movement performs a very elaborate drill exercise, with successive rotation of the hands. A fascinating spectacle ! Each of the 12 hands displays a blue side when indicating the time, a neutral side when it is not in play. Below the retrograde display, a floating small seconds hand graduated on a translucid ring passes over a 45-hour power reserve indicator. To rewind the mechanical movement, one simply has to turn the crown in anti-clockwise direction to arm the two barrels simultaneously, one supplying energy to the movement, the other to the animation. This amazing mechanism is preciously housed in a polished 18-carat white gold case 46 mm in diameter. Yet again, with this Opus 12, Harry Winston has broken new ground in telling the time in a truly breathtaking way. One might well wonder what the Opus 13 is going to look like ! Pilot Doublematic La famille “Pilot” chez Zenith accueille une nouvelle venue, la Doublematic. Avec ce modèle, la manufacture frappe un grand coup. Au légendaire chronographe viennent s’ajouter trois fonctions indispensables aux grands voyageurs : une alarme, un deuxième fuseau horaire et une grande date. Une réelle prouesse au regard des proportions maîtrisées du boîtier. Le chronographe affiche un totaliseur 30 minutes à 3h tandis que la grande date se positionne juste au-dessus. Le deuxième fuseau horaire se lit sur un réhaut 24h sur lequel sont inscrites les 24 villes de référence. Enfin l’alarme est un modèle de lecture : son réglage et son arrêt se font par les deux couronnes à 8h et 10h. La lecture est assurée par l’aiguille marquée de rouge. Pour éviter tout réveil désagréable, un indicateur on/off s’affiche sur le cadran ainsi que la réserve de marche de l’alarme, ce qui est très rare. Pour que tout fonctionne parfaitement, les maîtres horlogers Zenith ont équipé leur mouvement de deux barillets : un qui assure la réserve de marche de l’heure et l’autre pour la réserve de marche de l’alarme. Ce doublement des barillets permet d’assurer une réserve de marche de 50 heures au mouvement qui se paie le luxe d’être à remontage automatique. Une prouesse ! La Doublematic en acier existe avec un cadran noir ou silver. Pilot Doublematic Zenith’s “Pilot” family has welcomed a newcomer, the Doublematic. With this model, the Manufacture has hit the bull’s eye. The legendary chronograph has been joined by three functions essential to globetrotters : an alarm, second time zone and large date. An impressive accomplishment, given the finely studied proportions of the case. The chronograph displays a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock with the large date placed just above. The second time zone can be consulted on a 24-hour ring on which the names of 24 iconic cities are inscribed. Finally, the alarm is a model of easy reading : it is wound and activated by means of the two crowns at 8 and 10 o’clock, and read by means of the red-tipped hand. To avoid any unwanted awakening, an on/off indicator is visible on the dial, together with the alarm’s power reserve, a very rare feature. To ensure that everything works perfectly, Zenith’s master watchmakers have fitted the movement with two barrels : one devoted to the power reserve for reading the time, the other to the alarm’s power reserve. This double barrel system guarantees a 50-hour power reserve for the movement, which has been treated to the luxury of automatic winding. A remarkable feat ! The steel Doublematic comes with a black or silver dial. Later on, a rose gold version will complete this new line which has stacked all the cards in its favour to ensure a resounding success.

Peripheral Double Rotor Perrelet has come up with a new interpretation of its exclusive and iconic Double Rotor in a contemporary rendering, the Peripheral Double Rotor. The upper rotor now takes the form of a ring rotating above the movement, around its periphery. It appears behind hour-markers forming arches between the central dial and upper bezel, giving a slightly plunging effect.
