Carbon footprint

The carbon footprint of our operations is the amount of CO₂ emissions that are emitted due to our operations. It does not include emissions from paper, ink or printing plate manufacturing because these are allocated to the respective producers.

It is clear from the graph below that electricity usage generates the largest impact on climate, which is why the decision to start consuming renewable electricity is going to be a major contributor to making us more sustainable.

Transportation only includes domestic delivery of goods and transports that were done using the company fleet. All goods deliveries for export were outsourced and could not be included in the footprint. The same applies for transportation of raw materials (paper, ink, printing plates, chemicals).

• Approximately 45% of our produce was delivered with our own fleet. If we extrapolated our transportation results for all our annual produce, the total emissions (incl. our own fleet) would be about 1 100 thousand tonnes or a tenth of our carbon footprint. Exporting goods uses up more kilometres than domestic transportation, but is also offset by increased sea travel. Future calculations should bring more light into exact details.

• Travelling emissions have not been included in this calculation as they were assessed to account for well below 1% of the total footprint.
