PROJECT BRIEF Nue pronounced like [n(y)oo] is a French skincare and beauty line that is gender neutral. Nu is the French word for nude or natural and the “e� stands for essence which is used in most of their products. Our goal is to offer affordable products made out of all natural ingredients that will benefit and improve the skin. All Nue products are cruelty-free, vegan and made with the best possible ingredients, like hydrating jojoba, sweet almond, orange peel, rosehip and grapeseed oils; fruit and vegetable butters like mango and shea; packaging that allows for minimal to no preservatives. The Nue line is free of parabens, sulphates, mineral oil, methylchlor oisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, animal oils, benzalkonium chloride, coal tar dyes, formaldehyde, mercury, and oxybenzone; all of which are filler chemicals that are detrimental to the skin. Nue doesn’t test on animals and does not pay others to do so. For this reason, none of our brands are sold in mainland China since such sales require animal testing for registration purposes. The Nue cosmetics line is inspired by the beauty we see in ourselves and in the nature that surrounds us.
DESIGN OVERVIEW Nue sustains a certain amount of luxury with their products, the packaging is minimal but the contents inside are rich with vitamins and minerals that the skin needs in order to stay healthy and radiant. and in the nature that surrounds us. Our company wants our product designs to target a younger demographic. We want to evoke the feeling of something fresh and revitalized, much like what our products do for the skin. We want our brand to seem welcoming and not too overly complicated, like how some competing skincare products can confused customers with the excessive amount of jargon they put on display. Nue wants to be transparent with our audience and keep a laidback and approachable atmosphere. Because our products contain such luxurious oils and natural ingredients, we decided to cut costs on our branding design to keep a minimalistic aesthetic that will target the average day consumer on a budget.

The first green color is used in the majority of my logo. It’s used to symbolize leaves or nature. It’s a light green to show freshness and vibrancy but not too overly bright so it’s easy on the eyes. The second green color is darker and used to contrast the first one. The white fills up the negative space in the logo is a clean way.

The two first textures are used to indicate recycled material that is used for the stationary items. In order to keep up with the brands motto of use all natural materials. They care for the environment and want to show it through their products. The third texture is wood and is the material used for most of the signage. The signage needs to look sophisticated and realistic. The company wants to give off a rustic feel for their stores hence why this texture is used instead of their primary colors.

The typeface used is a decorative hand written san serif. It was chosen to give off a more hand made feeling that fits the theme of the company brand. The typeface is used for the logo, the stationary and the signage so they are all consistent.

Originally, this logo was created to easily fit in a circle. The leaf shape was created to represent the natural ingredients used in Nue’s cosmetic line. It captures the brands identity while also alluding what type of product it will be to a potential buyer.

The colors of the logo work best on a light or neutral color background. The symbol leaf can be transparent to show the background instead of being white only. The main color green is dark enough to actually have a decent contrast between the white without making the eyes sore.
