Becoming an entrepreneur and CEO of my own company has been an amazing, inspiring, incredible journey, and I hope you get to experience the same as you start your own business. Thirty-One has brought a breath of fresh air into my life and my home! After working 10-12 hour days and being completely exhausted, I felt like things in my life were becoming increasingly stale. Then, my husband and I found out we were expecting child #3 (after a 16 year hiatus from our last child) I knew immediately that those long work days were over. At first, I was very thankful for the time off. I soon realized that I missed the social interactions but still was not prepared to return to that taxing environment. Then, I received an invitation in the mail to a “Thirty-One party”! I had no idea what Thirty-One was but I knew that I wanted to get some much needed time out with my girlfriends. Well, I went to the party and I was hooked! Two months later, signed up to be a part of this amazing sisterhood. I can truly say that it has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. When I joined Thirty-One, I started just to make some extra money for my family… but I didn’t realize that I would also find lifelong friends. The sisterhood in Thirty-One is like no other. We encourage each other to DREAM more, LEARN more & BECOME more. They have helped me feel loved and valued when I needed it the most, which is something every woman deserves. These women have been there by my side not only to empower and cheer me on, but more importantly they are there to pick me up when I “fall” and encourage me to not give up. “why”?
Why did you choose to become a Thirty-One Consultant? Everyone has a unique reason for being a part of this family. Take a minute to write down your first thought on why you chose Thirty-One for the next step of your journey.
Think about the reasons that “why” is important to you. Maybe it’s "to be able to buy a second car" or "I want to be able to pay for my child's activities: sports, camp, band etc."
When you think about it, what you just wrote is your true “why.” It’s fun to think about and discover a true “why,” even though it might not be what you had originally thought. When you have a clear understanding of your true “why,” you will stay focused on pursing your dreams when you face challenges. The heart of your "why" is about being able to live your priorities. There may be financial goals that you will need to reach so you can live your "why". Create your List of 62 What matters most is who. Who will you talk to about Thirty-One? There’s a helpful sheet on Page 28 you can use to make your first List of 62. Over the next three days, you will use this list to invite people to your Launch Party. This is a “living list,” because you will continue to add to it throughout your business. Plan your Launch Party Your business, like all other businesses, deserves a grand opening. This is called your Launch Party. The purpose of this party is to share Thirty-One with others in order to generate sales and bookings, plus identify friends to join you on this journey. What is unique about a Launch Party is that you are the Hostess! Not only will you have fun kicking off your business and watching it grow, but you can also experience what it feels like to be a Hostess and enjoy the rewards too. Bookings 1. PLAN YOUR BUSINESS Take a look at the next 30 days on your personal calendar. Highlight the days on which you’d like to hold parties. (Doesn’t it feel wonderful to be in control of your own schedule?)
2. WHO SHOULD YOU CALL? Your parties are where it all happens: sales, bookings and even inspiring others to be part of your journey. To become great at booking and holding parties, during this first 30 days you will hold your Launch Party + 3 others. When booking your first 3 parties, you will need to call multiple people. Go to your List of 62 and put a heart by the 10 people you'd like to help you by hosting a party. Wondering who to ask? See the next page for tips!
tip It’s up to you how many parties you will hold each month, but to master the skills of having a party, it’s a great idea to hold at least four during your first 30 days. (Imagine learning to swim. While you might only swim a few times a year, it would be difficult to become proficient with just one lesson a month for six months.)

3. GET THE CONVERSATION STARTED Now, call them! You can say something like this: “Hello Aunt Sue. How are you? Is this a good time to talk? I have some exciting news to share. “I’ve started a business of my own. I’m a new Consultant with Thirty-One Gifts. I can’t wait to show you all the beautiful, functional products we offer, which is why I am calling. As part of my training, I am to hold four parties during my first 30 days. And it’s recommended that I ask people I know, love and trust to be one of my first Hostesses because I really want to get feedback at the end of the party so I can get better. I’ve got [this date] and [that date] open. Can I count on you for one of them? “Thanks. I’ve got your night reserved. I really appreciate it and you’re going to love all the free products you can earn as a Hostess.” Finally, tell her you will send her a Hostess flier and to begin making her guest list when she receives it. Let her know you will call her in a few days to get the guest list, so you can coordinate sending the invitations.

Hostess Coaching When your Hostess books a party with you, let her know that you will call her in a few days. This call is part of Hostess Coaching. Hostess Coaching is simply sharing with your Hostess, usually by phone, the things she will do to have a great party. Great coaches are encouraging and provide tips for achieving goals, and you’ll be coaching your Hostess on how to have a great party. Hostess Coaching will also help prevent parties from rescheduling, which helps you run a profitable and predictable business. You can search "Hostess Coaching" on TOT to learn more. Hostess Coaching

During the party
Arrival When you arrive at your Hostess’ door happy and smiling, you make a great impression, which will encourage her to think that Thirty-One might be the right opportunity for her, too. Ask your Hostess where she’d like you to set up, and when you’re done, let her know what the flow of the party will be. Ask her to introduce you to her guests when it’s time to get started.
tip Your Enrollment Kit has everything you need for a great display. Consider grouping the products according to their chapter – Just For You, For Your Home and For Your Family. This helps the presentation go smoothly, and helps guests understand the products better.

W.O.W. is an acronym for how you’ll party W–WELCOME During your welcome, be sure to share that Cindy started the company so other women could fulfill their dreams of owning their own business, while being celebrated, encouraged and rewarded. Next, tell the guests about Thirty-One’s mission and values. Mention, too, that the company’s Gives program helps build confident girls and women. Then, in just a sentence or two, share your “why.”
O–OFFER SOLUTIONS When sharing products, tell brief stories to demonstrate how the products provide daily solutions in your own life – or others’ lives. Also, ask open-ended questions (that can’t be answered with a yes or no) to understand your customers’ needs. Connecting your productstorytelling moments to needs your Customer has creates a winning combination that demonstrates how the products are a great solution for her.
tip Place a few special mementos in your Zipper Pouch and use it as a “why” Bag. For example, if your “why” is to earn extra income to take a trip to Disney, then a little Mickey Mouse toy with a picture of your family is “why” you choose to share Thirty-One with others.
W–WRAP UP This is where Customers will shop and you will take orders; but remember, it is so much more than this. You are helping her begin to tell her own story through her Thirty-One products. As you take each order, before you give her the total, ask the guest, "What other products were you interested in tonight bud didn't order?" Then offer to help her get the item for free, by having some friends to her home for a fun gathering. As you finish your conversation, ask her if she enjoyed the evening. If she says yes, then offer her some information on becoming a Consultant. Let her know that you’ll call her within a day or two to find out what she thinks. Bookings keep you in business, so always work to ensure you have a few bookings on your calendar. One of the easiest, and most efficient, ways to get bookings is at parties. There, guests are having fun, and are most likely to book a party if you ask them. For some great tips on bookings, visit TOT. You can search “bookings” or “WOW party” to learn more. WOW party

In today’s “big box store” world, personalized service is rare and special. You will wow guests by making Pink Bag Calls. These calls are easy, fun, quick and a great way to reconnect with your guests after the Party! Pink Bag calls should be made to all guests after they receive their products. It gives you a chance to thank them, make sure everything looks good, and make sure she loves her purchases. While you have her on the phone, remind her about upcoming monthly specials. See if she is interested in making additional purchases, hosting a party, or even joining your Thirty-One Gifts team! Do whatever you can to ensure Pink Glove Service and make a strong connection with her.
tip It’s a great idea to call guests who couldn’t attend and offer to share the products with her friends and family.
tip Remember to call the guests who didn’t order, to ask if they enjoyed the party. When they answer yes, ask if they would like to gather some friends for a fun evening.
