Hello ! I am Kshipra Shah, an architect from Mumbai with a degree from Mumbai University (Class of 2017) and two years of professional experience. I am passionate about shaping the future of architecture through innovative and impactful designs that integrate functionality and creativity. My passion for architecture began during my second year of academics when I came to understand its profound influence—not only on the built environment but also on the lives of the people it ser ves. It has the power to shape how individuals interact with spaces and one another, fostering a sense of belonging, wellbeing, and identity. On a larger scale, it builds communities, preser ves cultural heritage, and promotes traditions that bind us together. This realization motivates me to translate these ideals into tangible designs that positively impact society. Aligned with this vision, I am par ticularly drawn to urban design and town planning—fields that hold immense potential to drive large-scale societal change. While I haven’t had the oppor tunity to practice them professionally, they remain areas of deep personal interest that I aim to explore fur ther in my career.

Overview:

Ground levl plan

Type : Residential Completion : Ongoing Location : Nashik, Maharashtra The Sustainable Farmstay Project, undertaken by a firm specializing in sustainable practices and co-living, has not yet moved to the execution phase due to legal issues. Despite this, the project presented a complex structural challenge. With the guidance of senior professionals and experienced mentors, I was able to grasp the fundamentals and contribute to its development. The client had a deep appreciation for forest houses and drew inspiration from the Mahiravni Farmhouse designed by Ar. Sanjay Patil in Nashik. They insisted on replicating its design, resulting in a structure closely resembling the original Mahiravni Farmhouse.

The front entrance and backyard of the farmhouse are thoughtfully designed as dynamic spaces dedicated to entertaining guests, offering versatile settings for various forms of art, activities, and social gatherings, seamlessly blending functionality with aesthetic charm.

The two main courtyards of the house serve as pivotal elements in the spatial layout, effectively dividing the structure into two distinct zones while enhancing natural ventilation, lighting, and fostering a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Niches act as transitional buffers between two spaces, often created by toilets or extended passages, and enhance the house with dynamic and indirect lighting that adds depth and character to the interiors.

The above images are sourced from ArchDaily, showcasing the 'Farmhouse at Mahiravni' designed by Ar. Sanjay Patil of Environ Planners. These photographs capture the essence of the project’s design, providing a compelling inspiration for the conceptualization of the 'Forest House,' particularly in its harmonious integration of architecture with the surrounding natural environment.

Interiors for Monani’s

Interiors for Ms. Sheetal Monani Overview: Type : Interiors Completion : Ongoing Location : Nashik, Maharashtra The Monani’s Interior Project was a uniquely sensitive and challenging undertaking that required a deep understanding of the clients’ diverse needs. The client herself is a Chartered Accountant as well as a Kathak dancer and teacher, bringing a dynamic mix of professionalism and artistic sensibilities to the project. Additionally, her mother, who is physically challenged and relies on a walker for mobility, required the space to be meticulously designed to meet her specific needs and provide ease of access. Designing for the mother’s unique way of accessing the environment was a critical aspect of this project. Thoughtful consideration was given to spatial planning, ensuring smooth circulation paths and accessibility throughout the home. Meeting these expectations was one of the most significant challenges of the project, as it required balancing functionality with aesthetic appeal while accommodating her mobility requirements. The client’s personal values and beliefs also played a significant role in shaping the design. A devout believer in Shrinathji (Lord Krishna), she adhered to specific rules and traditions associated with her faith. These beliefs influenced the design choices, from spatial layouts to the selection of colors, materials, and sacred spaces within the home. Integrating these elements harmoniously while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic required careful planning and execution.
