Basic Computer Education for Seniors
Ages 55+ Basic Computer Education at Langston is perfect for those who are new to computers or just want to update their skills. This class will empower you to be more comfortable with technology. Topics and discussions include understanding the parts of the computer to social media. Register by Tuesday, Sept. 6. Program begins Sept. 20 and ends Oct. 25. Ages 18+ In partnership with the Johnson City Public Library, the Seekers Book Club explores classic African-American literature. Previous selections have included The Souls of Black Folkby W.E.B. DuBois; The Autobiography of Malcolm Xby Malcolm X and Alex Haley; and James Baldwin’s Go Tell It on the Mountain. This club meets the third Thursday of each month. Ages 18+ Community building is a process that fosters connection among individuals, and it offers a collective space for experience sharing. Ages 14-17 RED Academy is an opportunity for young adults (grades 9-12) in Johnson City to become leader scholars for active community engagement with a cognizant mind of responsibility to self, responsibility to others, and an acknowledgment of this responsibility to their community. RED Academy is a partnership between Langston Education and Arts Development (LEAD), ETSU, and the Langston Centre. Starting Sept. 15.
