MOREnet 2015 Google Tips & Tricks At the MOREnet conference two Google Certified Teachers went head-to-head on the best tips, tricks, and strategies for using Google Apps for Education and other Google products. Below are the items you might try out. (Thanks to Amy Johnson we have the complete list). Imagine the possibilities. Google Docs ● Link Chooser an “Add on” lets you link to a doc or folder in your Drive to automatically open it from the Doc you are working on ● Voice Typing- Click on voice typing under “Tools” and speak to convert to text Google Slides ● Use Slides to create Infographics- While in Slides create placeholder templates for images, graphs, and text ● Change Slide Orientation- File>Page Setup>Custom 8.5x11 makes it a portrait page Google Sheets ● Pivot Tables- (a tool that allows you to summarize and explore data interactively) in Sheets, Data>Pivot Table>fill in report editor ● Explore button- the plus sign in lower right hand corner of sheets will graph data instantly Google Forms ● A Spreadsheet list copied into Forms- You can copy a list from Sheets into Forms to create multiple choice questions ● Pre-filled URL- under Responses>get pre filled URL - this allows you to have pre-filled fields with consistent naming so that sorting data is accurate Google Drawing ● Create Slide Templates- create template in Draw (using same page layout) and download as jpeg, then drag into Slides, and duplicate slide ● Interactive Images with Google Sites- Link images in Drawing and insert into Sites as an interactive header Google Classroom ● Share to Classroom extension - It pushes a website out to students in your Classroom bonus: students can also push to the teacher ● Classroom Calendar shared to Parents- This latest update automatically creates a Calendar for each Classroom which can then be made public and embedded into a website or blog.
