It has been unblocked and you should be able to access it at dp.la without issue. This is a great content hub with several tools: ● timeline - do a year search and it will tell you how many resources for that period of time exist - search by decade - great for those era projects ● map - search - if you are studying by region ● book shelf - 8 million items -be sure to refine the search ● manuscripts ● sound bytes ● primary sources

Padlet Walls - Customize Columns Padlet is not new but they have some features that may make life easier. Padlet is a favorite because it is a flexible fit for a lot of different uses. One of the suggested uses is for creating KWL (Know, Want, Learn) charts. To provide students with guidance on where to place their notes a custom background can be created in Padlet. The background is a just a screenshot of a three column page that’ s made in Google Documents and then uploaded to Padlet. Follett BryteWave K-12 App Lately we have received some information from the schools that the BryteWave app is not working. While sometimes the Follet Shelf may be down that is not necessarily always the case. We have found that when downloading the app it is imperative that faculty and staff are downloading Follett Brytewave K-12 edition of the app and not just the Brytewave app. It is very easy to download the incorrect app.

What determines the fee for a book marked Lost? Books marked Lost draw the fee from Purchase Price as listed in the copy. If Purchase Price is blank, they will instead use the Max Fine for the Patron Type/Circulation Type combination in question. In other words, a book (circulation type bk), look under the Patron Type of a person, see the Max Fine in the listing for bk, that is what they would be charged. Purchase Price's may be higher or lower than the Max Fine; Destiny will not limit itself to the "Max Fine" if the Purchase Price is a higher amount. As a final note, borrowers not at your school will use the Patron Type of "Student" for determining Max Fine.

Digital Age Library Spaces Lately I have been fortunate enough to work with many librarians on looking at their space with a different lens. The conversation goes through several topics such as: ● defining what a digital-age library is ○ characteristics ○ the big picture ● considering what it could become ○ the snapshot in your mind ○ the dynamics of the community ● identifying what their current reality is ○ the frustrations, interactions, themes and frustrations ● deciding on purpose and goals ○ addressing needs ● preparing for conversation with administrators ○ background information needed ○ concepts/needs being addressed ● configuring library zones ○ traffic flow ○ furniture/wall graphics ○ shelving ○ social vs collaborative areas ● creating 1-5 year plans and prioritizing needs ○ curriculum ○ space ○ budget ○ timeline ● looking at current trends ○ zones/spaces ● discussing what it means to reinvent the library space ○ changing the rules ○ physical vs virtual space ○ flexibility ● indicators of success ○ gathering data ● promoting the space ○ share the vision with stakeholders While it may seem overwhelming, it is a very exciting time to think about the direction of the library in your building. If you want to start or continue the conversation let Kim or Bill know. We are here to support you as you start or continue this journey.
