The Welcome Back meeting with all librarians will be Friday, August 7th, 8:00-3:00 at West HIgh in the Library Classroom.

Google Academy Information Right now we are really low in terms of the number of people registered for Google Academy. So, please consider telling your friends about the event and post the Academy and Camp flyers in strategic places in your buildings. Google Academy will be offered as a salary credit opportunity for you and teachers in your building. All the information can be found at this link (http://goo.gl/uQu8BS). As a presenter, you have the ability to earn salary credit as well.

2015-2016 Award eBooks on the Way I ordered all 2015-2016 award books that came in electronic (eBook) format. I will be pushing those titles to school shelves in the next few days. Elementaries will see all Show Me's, Mark Twain's, and Truman's. Middle School's will see all Mark Twain's, Truman's, and Gateway's. High School's will see all Mark Twain's, Truman's, and Gateway's. Any books that are 12 month access will not show up on your shelves until June 1. If you wish to 'hide' any of the titles on your shelf, you will have to log on to your administrator account and hide them.

About Books Humans, Machines and Inbetweens The focus in the current School Library Journal is on Robo Reads!

This article has something for all grade levels from fiction to nonfiction. The list contains titles of excellent robot literature from the last few years. What a great way to encourage scientific minds to read over the summer or to create a list the library should probably keep for makerspaces.

Who wouldn’t want to read something like Zoobots. The article also contains quick digital picks which includes websites and apps.

New Summer Reading List This summer Parkway will be circulating new summer reading lists in a brochure format for grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and high school. The lists were adopted from ALSC (Association for Library Service to Children), MISL (Missouri Association of School Librarians), and YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association).The criteria for many of the books on these lists were based on overall appeal, exposure to authors, diversity, genre variety, and relevance. The brochure format creates a manageable list with adequate choice to encourage students to read for fun. Summer reading is a chance for students to learn to read for pleasure. This lists and additional resources can be found on the Library Services page. Also be sure to use the hashtag #parkwayreads to organize social media posts about reading in Parkway.

St Louis County Summer Reading Program Summer Reading Club starts on May 18. The promotional videos showcasing how the club works are now available on the library’s YouTube channel. Here are the direct links to put on your library webpage: Kids’ Reading Club (Kindergarten-Grade 5) Kid Club Promotional Video Teen Reading Club (Grades 6-12) Teen Club Promotional Video The video is to promote the club to students and parents.

Ideas for sharing the video include: ● showing the videos to your students during class or assemblies ● posting the video to your school’s website ● sending the link in an electronic newsletter or other communication to parents Encourage your students to not only participate in the club this summer, but to strive to complete the club.
