Resources ISTE Standards in Our Setting Using the ISTE Standards for Coaches Librarians may use the standards in different ways, depending on the unique needs of their learning community. As we think about how we coach students and staff in technology within our buildings, there are several ideas on how to leverage the benefits of these standards: ● Collaborating about technology requires everyone to be on the same page with the technological vocabulary, so be prepared to translate and accommodate the language. ● By putting the Coaching Standards into action, we are providing the opportunity to support Student, Teacher and Administrator Technology Standards. ● Engaging in leadership with technology throughout your building provides the lens to consider which components of existing technology are strong or weak. Think about what strategies could be designed to bridge any gaps. ● Establish a common understanding for technology and share best practices for the integration learning strategy. ● Develop a local and global PLN (professional learning network) where you can learn from others and share best practices. ● Continually assess the current needs of the learning community and determine how your contributions will help achieve solutions for students and faculty. These ideas on how to use the Coaching Standards will assist with helping educators navigate the transformation from traditional classroom environments to the emerging learning landscape. Coaching technology builds relationships, supports collaborative goal settings, models best practices, and provides opportunities for transformational change. What does an emerging learning landscape look like for students? ● student-centered, performance focused learning ● flexible progressions with multipath options ● media-rich, multisensory stimulation ● learner-constructed knowledge from multiple information sources and experiences ● collaborative work on authentic, real-world projects ● student engagement in definition, design, and management of projects ● creative thinking for innovation and original solutions ● global expertise, information and communication systems ● digital literacies and communication skills ● expanded focus including digital global citizenship ● integrated assessment for learning
