Teresa Osinski
Frank Wilson
Teresa Osinski — Is the Executive Vice President of the Home Builders Association of Kitsap County. She works daily to enhance the public’s awareness of the importance to hire only professional, state registered, insured and bonded contractors while also bringing to the elected officials county wide important information about the construction industry’s pivotal role in our economy. Teresa came to the Kitsap area ten years ago after over a decade working for the Washington State Utilities and Transportation Commission as a senior level policy advisor and Legislative Liaison. Teresa and her husband Frank are raising two sons, Joey (South Kitsap Class of 2010) and Joshua (South Kitsap Class of 2013). With active, athletic sons, Teresa has spent many years as the team manager for two youth basketball teams in Port Orchard scheduling, fundraising, and traveling all over Washington and to Reno Nevada. In 2008 Teresa graduated from Leadership Kitsap and worked with her class team to bring interesting local science professionals into the elementary schools — helping kids to make the connection between what they are leaning and how it could be translated into interesting careers in their future. Teresa is a 1988 graduate of Seattle University with a degree in Business Administration.
Frank Wilson — Has been in real estate since 1990. Starting out as a practicing agent he has worn many hats including; assistant manager, branch manager, co-owner of three offices, president of Kitsap Realtors in 2001, vice president of Washington Realtors 2002, state certified instructor, radio show host of Realtor Radio and Realtor of the year in 2005. Frank is currently the branch managing broker of the John L. Scott office in Poulsbo and a director on the board for the Northwest Multiple Listing Service. The exciting thing about real estate is not the houses, it’s the people. Helping new and experienced brokers reach their personal business goals while they, in turn, help their buyers and sellers reach theirs is where the excitement and adventure lies in running a real estate company.
Amy Igloi
Amy Igloi — Has owned Amy’s On The Bay Restaurant & Bar on the Port Orchard waterfront for over five years. Amy obtained her Business Administration Degree from the University of Washington and received the KPBJ 40 Under Forty honorary in 2007. In 2008, she was given the Cornerstone Humanitarian Award from the Washington Restaurant Association and in 2009, was one of three in the nation to receive the “America Dream Award” from the National Restaurant Association. Amy is an energetic community member who volunteers her time to different committees and nonprofits. She is also very involved in city and state politics. She currently sits on the Board of Directors for Association of Washington Business and the Washington Restaurant Association. In addition, she was appointed by Governor Gregoire to the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Citizen’s Advisory Board. Congratulations
To the 40 Under Forty Class of 2011
Drawn from a pool of more than 100 nominees, the Kitsap Peninsula Business Journal takes great pleasure in introducing the “40 Under Forty” Class of 2011. Our distinguished panel of judges selected 40 of the Kitsap Peninsula’s best, brightest, and most outstanding individuals under the age of 40, who were nominated for this very special honor by community leaders and local business people, as well as past 40 Under Forty honorees. As we have done for the past seven years, this very special group was selected based on their career success, community
involvement,
and
personal
commitment to making a difference in our communities.
These young men and women represent the best of the Kitsap Peninsula’s upcoming generation of future business leaders, elected officials, and community activists. As they take the helm of leadership, they will not only influence, but in many cases, actually be the people charting our course and making the decisions that impact the future of our area and its growth. It is our pleasure to recognize them for the contributions they are already making. We thank our judges: V.P. and Executive Director of the Home Builders Association of Kitsap County, Teresa Osinski; Broker/Manager of John L. Scott Poulsbo office, Frank Wilson; and Restaunteur and owner of Amy’s On The Bay in Port Orchard, Amy Igloi.

students at Discovery Montessori. In addition, she is a musical theater program teacher at Just for Kicks for kids ages 4-14, teaching dance, singing and acting. She is most proud of seeing her students “come out of their shells and gain confidence speaking and performing in front of people.” Stephanie is also pursuing a master’s degree in education. She was an exchange student in Germany for a year and can speak German fluently. She had also toured throughout Germany with an English touring drama group.
Five years ago, Ryan Chapman decided to make a lifestyle change. After an intense diet and exercise regimen, he lost 100 pounds and became a triathlete. As his race results improved, he decided to coach other athletes and founded B.A.S.E. Training, a fitness and triathlon coaching company. While running the business part time, he has been working as a
manager at PSNS, supervising 21 personnel on the nonnuclear trouble desk. His plan is to move into his business full-time in 2012. His certifications include Total Immersion Teaching Professional (swimming) and USAT Level 1 triathlon coach, among others. His primary motivation for starting a business is to have a flexible schedule so he can spend more time with his children, but he said doing something he loves is definitely a bonus. He also spends time in several volunteer activities.

Common Threads That Bind Raising families, giving back to the community and being goal-driven-these are some of the common threads among this year’s honorees. Many are graduates of Leadership Kitsap and active volunteers in several organizations. They take pride in the teams who helped them succeed on their jobs and look for ways to give of themselves even more. Stephanie Brush believes that every child — every person, in fact — should have equal opportunity to work toward his or her dreams. That is why her goal is to open a school of arts, so she could help those whose dream is to be in the performing arts. Abby Ouimet has been drawn to work for those who need someone to give them a voice, and she chose a career in communications. She has since worked for organizations advocating for people with disabilities and people touched by cancer, and is now working at Kitsap Humane Society to give animals a voice as well. Joshua Hinman believes in leaving his community better than he found it, which is why he gets involved in the community as time allows. It’s also the reason he wanted to work for West Sound Youth for Christ, so he could make the community a better place for his family to live and grow up in. Jessie Palmer feels fortunate to work alongside a talented team at the YMCA and be part of projects that have a lasting impact in the community. Heather Hughes-Henrichsen believes that one way to serve the community is by raising her children to be responsible citizens. She spends most of her free time nurturing her two children, who are 9 and 12. She also volunteers for field trips, as team mom and uses other opportunities to support her children while giving back. For Nicole Robbins, serving the community means being aware of its needs and she finds that being active in the chamber of commerce is a good way to do that. She stays active in the Greater Poulsbo Chamber as a way of providing
support for local businesses. Katherine Wright also feels the chamber is a great way to be involved. She is proud to be working in her hometown of Gig Harbor and to be involved in many of Gig Harbor Chamber’s activities and events. Sasha Wetzsteon has rallied her family, friends and even clients at the coffee shop where she works to get behind her and support cancer research. She has been active with North Kitsap Relay for Life and is proud to watch her children raise money for a good cause. Jennifer Yeaman credits her husband and children with helping her achieve success. Her family has supported her through a busy schedule of working, taking classes for an associate’s degree, participating in Leadership Kitsap and being a mother to a young athlete — while also expecting another child. Lene Langdon is one of several honorees who started in entry-level jobs and have worked their way to the top. She is also one of several of this year’s leaders who took college classes while working and raising families-and is proud that her hard work has paid off and she has set an example for her kids. Shaun Guerrero uses his personal story of being raised by a teen mother to encourage other young moms. His mother became pregnant with him at 16 but was determined to make the best possible life, so she graduated with a GED and became a successful business person. Shaun and his mother have teamed up to tell their story to inspire young moms to take positive steps in their lives. Daniel Roso believes that being successful means choosing work you’re both good at and you have a passion for. When you’re good at it, it comes naturally, and it’s easy to find pleasure in doing something you like. Those were some of the proud moments and experiences that shaped our Class of 2011. They shared the importance of perseverance, hard work and forging ahead despite obstacles

Nicole Robbins Public Health Director Kingston Crossing Wellness Clinic Nicole Robbins has been pursuing her passion in the health and wellness industry for several years, including as a personal trainer and health club manager. A few years ago she took a detour, after discovering her passion for nonprofits, to serve as the director for the Silvery City Grant County Chamber of Commerce in
various important aspects of Kitsap County, ranging from governance and economics to education and planning. She is also a volunteer with the North Kitsap Trails Association. She earned her first dollar as a babysitter and later worked for Kingston Inn as a hostess. Veronica says that being the only sibling who has no athletic ability in an otherwise athletically inclined family gave her the opportunity to become involved in high school with athletic medicine. She has continued that involvement as a volunteer ever since.

Since Kingston Crossing Wellness Center supports local nonprofits through monthly fundraising events, she has found that her current job as the public health director allows her to combine her passions for health and for nonprofits. Nicole is a member of the Greater Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce board of directors and volunteers for other nonprofits when time allows. A few little known facts about her is that she won the 100th episode of Fear Factor, and that she is in love with classic cars.

He speaks internationally and recently co-wrote an encyclopedia of cardiology terminology. Nathan is a father and an avid endurance athlete, competing in marathons and triathlons. This year alone, he completed his first full Ironman triathlon in Switzerland, requalified for the Boston Marathon and placed second in his age group at the Pacific Crest Olympic Triathlon regional championships.
Partner and Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology Kitsap Cardiology Consultants Since joining Kitsap Cardiology Consultants in 2008, Dr. Nathan Segerson implemented a state-of-the-art cardiac electrophysiology lab at Harrison Medical Center. He trained nurses and technical staff, marketed referring physicians, and performed hundreds of cardiac electrophysiology procedures, bringing this subspecialty to Kitsap County for the first time.

How Our Honorees Earned Their First Dollar Babysitting, lawn mowing and delivering papers were popular ways of starting their entrepreneurial careers for our 2011 honorees. Others found creative ways of earning their first dollar. Perhaps the most unusual young wage earner was Amber Gravett. Her family had company and her dad offered to pay her to sing “the Peanut song” for them. She was 5. A couple of years later, she decided to cut flowers from her family garden and sell them at the end of the driveway. Corinne Beach and her brother earned $1 per night from their parents to walk the golf course range and pick up balls. She was about 6 or 7, and would race her brother to see who was the quickest to pick the most balls. Nicole Robbins bailed hay, transported it and fed horses at a 30-head ranch. Horses have remained her passion! Amber Page was a lifeguard and swim instructor at the local pool — which she continued doing every summer while in college. Amber Dinh clowned around — she’s been working since she was 15 and started as a clown at a pizzeria. Christian Grainsbrugh stuffed envelopes for his father, who owned a business. He later was “promoted” to do data entry and then to
maintain and repair his father’s computers. Jennifer Yeaman also worked for her family’s business — she helped rake leaves and mow lawns for their landscaping company. At age 9, Edward Moydell worked for his grandfather, who owned a neon sign company. Ray Allwine worked for his father, picking ferns for a penny a piece. He earned $10 and his dad tried to renegotiate the price in half! Darcy Jenne also helped her father, delivering his products once a week to silver mines in Idaho and Montana. She earned more than just money during those summers; she earned the understanding of how important it is to take pride in what you do and to never take anything for granted. Keith Armstrong used to buy things at garage sales then turn around and sell them for profit. Gus Housen also was a salesman: He sold candy at school. Sean Compton sold door to door instead, as a Boy Scout. Nathan Segerson picked blueberries at age 12. He packed a lunch, got a ride to a bog in Olympia and put in eight hours of work, bringing home $4.85. Schuyler Beaver picked strawberries for a farm instead — and got to eat as many as he wanted. He also mowed lawns, like many other of this year’s honorees.

Janet Silcott
Janet Silcott joined Kitsap Bank in 2004 as marketing coordinator and has advanced to the role of assistant vice president and marketing officer. She has several diverse interests and likes to combine her English and technical communication skills. A marketing career has provided a natural fit for that combination.
Janet is a mother of two and an aspiring cake decorator. She has been an entrepreneur since an early age — when she was 8, she and her sister grew and sold miniature pumpkins to teachers, local grocers and friends. She has been involved in various community activities including Martha & Mary and the PTA at her son’s school. She’s most proud of being able to balance a career and her family as well as setting up an example for her young kids that they can achieve their dreams through hard work.
