T
he Bible states in 1 John 4:8 that “God is love”, and there is something deep down inside all of us that wants to connect with our Creator and experience His love. God demonstrates His love for us every day in so many ways. The greatest act of God’s love is that He gave His Son to die for all humanity so that we could be saved from the penalty of sin (John 3:16). God created and wants us to belong to His family, living in His kingdom, according to His laws and principles and desires that our earthly
families model His domain, the culture of heaven. In the beginning, God created Adam and Eve, the perfect husband and wife who initially experienced perfect love. As a consequence of their sin, we saw the first family unit torn apart when Cain killed his brother Abel (Genesis 4:8), laying the foundation for ‘family drama’ in subsequent generations. At no other time in human history has marriage come under such severe spiritual attack. The soaring divorce rates, particularly in the western world, disrupting the family, leaving brokenness and crippling pain is heart-breaking to say the least. There are tales of dysfunctionality or functional marriages; couples are merely going through the motions of marital life for social and
economic reasons. Generally, breakdown and dissatisfaction between couples are all too common in the modern world. The good news is that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has established God’s kingdom with a never-ending family and, if we choose to follow Jesus: “the way, the truth and the life” (John 4:6), we can be adopted into the family of God. If we belong to His kingdom, we can have a new DNA in Christ (II Corinthians 5:17). Through Jesus, we can have the authority and ability to establish peace, love, joy and harmony
Marriage in our marital relationships influencing our blood family and within the extended family of God. Paul gave us a kingdom blueprint for marriages in Ephesians 5:22-33. His kingdom, manifesting the culture of heaven, has the fruit of the Spirit outlined in Galatians 5:22: love, joy, peace, etc. Our marriages can be a place of love, a place of peace, a place of joy and a place of security when we yield to the lordship of Christ. We too can have heaven on earth in our marriages. Every marriage can reflect the kingdom of God, which is the basis of the theme for our Eighth annual BGE: Kingdom Marriages.

MEET THE JoneS’
Ministers Jefferson & Rosa Jones, are founders and senior leaders of Surge Ministries, a multi-cultural, intergenerational, prophetic movement focused on discipling people who transform culture. The Jones’ are relational strategists who have been partnering in marriage, ministry, and the marketplace since 2002. Jefferson serves as minister, chaplain and life coach. Rosa is a licensed professional counsellor, life coach, and serial
entrepreneur. Together, they share over 40 years of combined experience in education and ministry leadership. Currently, the Jones’ live and work in Virginia with their two tween/ teenage sons and enjoy travel, music, food, learning, and laughing.
MEET THE CHARLES’
Deacon Mark Charles is a qualified building surveyor working in construction for over 35 years. Minister Abegail Charles is a mental health nurse and the proprietor of a catering business. They live in Walsall in the West Midlands. Married for over 15 years they have five children between them and are still learning about the joys of parenthood. They both play an active role as ministers
of Restoration Fellowship Ministries and have various interests such as gardening at the allotment.
