Architectural design: Mold architects Completion year: 2020 Photo credits: Panagiotis Voumvakis The need of protection from the strong winds and yet the desire to take full advantage of the disarming view, led the architects to the decision to drill the slope and create a protected shelter, which integrates to the landscape, yet maintains a dynamic presence.

Οι MOLDarchitects ιδρύθηκαν το 2011 από την Ηλιάνα Κερεστετζή (MSc in Advanced Architectural Design, Columbia University, ΝΥ 2009). Η πρακτική τους ενσωματώνει την έρευνα, τον αρχιτεκτονικό σχεδιασμό, την κατασκευή, το σχεδιασμό τοπίου, τις εικαστικές τέχνες και τον παραμετρικό σχεδιασμό. Η δουλειά τους έχει συμπεριληφθεί σε ομαδικές εκθέσεις αρχιτεκτονικής και έχει δημοσιευθεί εκτενώς σε επιστημονικά περιοδικά στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό. Their practice integrates research, architecture, landscape, advanced computational design, parametric design, graphic design, interior design, construction, visual arts. Removing all infrastructure to the greatest extent possible, we re-imagined the product itself as a structural element, whose repetition would produce architectural space.

kokkinou - kourkoulas architects and associates Το γραφείο Κοκκίνου Κούρκουλας Αρχιτέκτονες & Συνεργάτες ιδρύθηκε το 1987 από τη Μαρία Κοκκίνου και τον Ανδρέα Κούρκουλα. Μέσα από την πρακτική της αρχιτεκτονικής, τη δημιουργία χώρου με υλικά, προσπαθούμε να ορίσουμε τον τρόπο, με τον οποίο παράγεται νόημα και διαμορφώνεται μια ατομική και συλλογική συνειδητότητα. Επηρεασμένοι από τα σύγχρονα ρεύματα τέχνης, προσπαθήσαμε να κατανοήσουμε την αρχιτεκτονική ως χωρική εμπειρία, που επεκτείνει την ιδέα της λειτουργίας σε μια τελετουργική διαδικασία. Κύριο μέλημά μας είναι ο τρόπος με τον οποίο οι τρισδιάστατες μορφές δημιουργούν χώρο, διεγείροντας τις ανθρώπινες αισθήσεις του κινούμενου στο χώρο σώματος. Στόχος μας είναι η δημιουργία ενός πλαισίου ορίων και χωρικών σχέσεων που νοηματοδοτεί την καθημερινή δημόσια και ιδιωτική ζωή, δίνοντας ρυθμό στην κίνηση και στην οπτική. Η αρχιτεκτονική είναι μια διαδικασία εξόχως ποιητική, η οποία θέτει στο επίκεντρό της την ιδέα της αλληγορίας. Η ποιητική της αποστολή επιτελείται όταν ένα κτίριο γίνεται κομμάτι της ιστορίας ενός τόπου. Συνδυάζει τη μνήμη με τη φαντασία, το παρελθόν με το μέλλον.

Situated in the extreme topography, the volumes consist of three separate bedrooms and a canopy housing the kitchen and living room.

Kokkinou Kourkoulas Architects & Associates was founded in 1987 by Maria Kokkinou and Andreas Kourkoulas. By creating space with materials, as an architectural practice we define ways of giving meaning and shape to the singular and collective consciousness. Influenced by contemporary art, we conceive architecture as a spatial experience that raises the idea of function to a ritual process. Our main concern is the way three-dimensional elements create space and stimulate the senses of a human body moving in space. We aim to create a framework of boundaries and spatial relations, which give purpose to public and private daily life, offering rhythm to movement and vision. Architecture is a highly poetic process, within which allegory has a central role. Its poetic mission is accomplished when a building becomes part of the history of a place. The garden contributes to the quality of public space while providing an enviromental buffer for the offices.

The building itself becomes the context. It is a house to make memories in. A question that arises is what is the mechanism that design employs in order to create those memories. The answer lays in the combination of simplicity in forms and diversity in spatial qualities.

The overall colour scheme revolves around light tones on the walls, interrupted by intense colour spots from the furniture and art pieces.

"Active Materiality", vacation houses complex in Porto Cheli

The architectural "idea" renders the curvilinear nature of the terrain of the place and the historical metaphor, by setting the building volumes in place and directing their "movement". The design formulates an architecture intimate and yet unexpected, precise albeit inventive, narrative and simple still, primordial and contemporary at the same time.

Potiropoulos+Partners was founded in 1989 by Dimitris Potiropoulos and Liana NellaPotiropoulou and has established itself as one of Greece’s foremost architectural firms, with studios based in Athens and London. In 2015, their son Rigas Potiropoulos joined the firm as partner. The firm has been repeatedly awarded in competitions and has received numerous international distinctions, such as the 2nd Prize for the "New Acropolis Museum" in collaboration with Daniel Libeskind, the distinction for the "Grand Egyptian Museum" in Cairo, as well as the "Architizer A+Award 2017" and the "German Design Award 2018" for the "Beachfront Villa" in Navarino Residences. The firm was nominated for the "2015 Mies Van der Rohe Award European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture" and has received the "German Design Award 2018" and the "Architizer A+ Award 2016" for the "Kindergarten of the German School of Athens". The design proposes an unexplored "place of miracles". The design strategy approached the kindergarten as an "object / toy" on a scale of 1:1.

Organizational zoning was attempted –vaguely reminiscent of the wooden pier– which gathers all activities.

Το γραφείο μελετών Tsolakis Architects, ιδρύθηκε από τον Γιώργο Τσολάκη το 2005. Το 2010 το γραφείο αποκτά τη σημερινή του δομή, αποτελούμενο από μια ομάδα αρχιτεκτόνων μηχανικών, παρέχοντας ολοκληρωμένες υπηρεσίες μελέτης, επίβλεψης και συμβούλου σε όλο το φάσμα και τις κλίμακες των αρχιτεκτονικών έργων. Η δομή και το μέγεθος του γραφείου, επιτρέπει το σχεδιασμό και τη μελέτη διαφορετικών μεταξύ τους έργων, τόσο σε επίπεδο τυπολογίας, όσο και σε επίπεδο κλίμακας. Η δραστηριότητά του εκτείνεται από τη διαμόρφωση εσωτερικών χώρων, μέχρι έργα μεγάλης κλίμακας και σημασίας. Ταυτόχρονα, το γραφείο ασχολείται με τον τοπιακό σχεδιασμό, τόσο σε αστικό επίπεδο, όσο και σε επίπεδο τοπίου. Η διαρκής συμμετοχή του γραφείου σε αρχιτεκτονικούς διαγωνισμούς, που παρεμβάλλεται στις τρέχουσες επαγγελματικές ενασχολήσεις, διαμορφώνει μια διάθεση πειραματισμού και επεξεργασίας ιδιαίτερων μορφών και δομών. Κύριος στόχος της αρχιτεκτονικής ομάδας μας είναι η διαρκής εξέλιξη της αρχιτεκτονικής μας γλώσσας και η προσαρμογή της στις διαρκώς μεταβαλλόμενες ανάγκες της σύγχρονης κοινωνίας.

The architectural office and consultancy consists of a team of architect engineers and aims to provide comprehensive design services, supervision and advice in a huge range and scale of architectural projects. The structure and size of the office enables the design and study of quite different projects, both in terms of typology and scale. The activities extend from the configuration of interiors to projects of large scale and importance. At the same time the office deals with landscaping design, both at urban level, by designing squares and open spaces, as well as at landscape level by park design. The office has repeatedly been honoured with awards in architectural competitions and projects, which have been presented in Greece and abroad.
