It is a world of perpetual and effervescent spring, ruled by the Tong Dynasty, where playful imagination mingles with capricious charm. In this dreamscape, dolls dance in the meadows and girls have bunny friends over for afternoon tea. Spring Festival is celebrated with sparkling new frocks from imperial couturier Tan Sheau Yun’s Tong Tong 2011 collection. Brandishing her magic needle and gossamer thread, she splices bolts of fabrics in vivid hues and oodles of doodles into charming dresses with Mandarin collars, in a nod to traditional Chinese-wear. Witty detailing such as contrasting piping or collar lining adds touches of whimsy to delight the wearer. Stiff, stifling Chinese cheongsams? Those belong to another world... Getting dolled up here is fun!
