SITE ANALYSIS

Background Beginning in the mid-1800s, in attempts to make this area suitable for building, Mission Bay was used as a convenient place to deposit refuse from building projects and debris from the 1906 Earthquake. As the marsh quickly stabilized with the weight of the infill, the area quickly became an industrial district. By 1850 the area was used for shipbuilding and repair, butchery and meat production, and oyster and clam fishing. With the addition of the railroad, Mission Bay became the home to shipyards, canneries, a sugar refinery and various warehouses. In 1998 the area was announced by the Board of Supervisors as a redevelopment project. Much of the land was long a railyard of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company, and transferred to Catellus Development Corporation when it was spun off as part of the aborted merger of Southern Pacific and the Santa Fe Railway. Catellus subsequently sold or sub-contracted several parcels to other developers. It has rapidly evolved into a wealthy neighborhood of luxury condominiums, hospitals, and biotechnology research and development. Median rent in 2013: -Mission Bay:

DESIGN CONCEPT RUBIK’S CUBE

There is a 3-Dimentional combination puzzle is called Rubik’s Cube, which was invented by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Erno Rubik in 1974. Based on the opinions from the color researchers, the conceptual idea of Rubik’s cube is arrange for the same idea of correlative to the color of the two sides with diversified transformation. For instance, white relate with yellow, red and orange, blue and green, orange and yellow, all colors are arranged in a 4x4x4 structure. This multi-aspect structure is the inspiration of my design concept. There are several reasons why I choose Rubik’s Cube to be my design concept. Firstly, as an intellectual game, the main point is to disorganize an intact Rubik’s cube’s structure and colors into a disturbed one then restructure it. My project is located in San Francisco Mission Bay, which has been developed in recent years. In my opinion, the Mission Bay district will be a link to connect downtown San Francisco. My project can be as a transition from Mission Bay to downtown San Francisco, which is similar as the idea of the Rubik’s cube with the basic rule of the transformation. Second, the color of the Rubik’s cube represents a great diversity of culture phenomenon, which means the city of San Francisco absorb the different culture from all over the world. My design will consider using few typical elements to present this idea. Third, the invention of Rubik’s cube was an architectural professor in order to demonstrate the relationship between architectural spaces. This idea inspires me more architectural structure for my interior space. Depends on the main point of the Rubik’s cube, the interior space will be individually and relatively with each other. Finally, there is another reason present my concept, which is people’s activity is limited by the Rubik’s cube. It means the circulation of this project will be flexible as well as limited.

SUSTAINABLE SITE

1. LT CREDIT: SURROUNDING DENSITY AND DIVERSE USES(1-6) 2 point My location surrounding existing within a 1/4-mile radius if the project boundary meets the values- In 22000 square feet per acre of buildable land with 7 residential density and 0.5 nonresidential density.

2. LT CREDIT: ACCESS TO QUALITY TRANSIT(1-6) 3 point For reducing green house gas emissions, air pollution, and environmental, my location has many public transportation. Such as muni, M line. 28,29 bus line. My weekday transit types trips >144. And weekend transit types trips>108. Including M line (muni). 28. 29 bus line (muni)

3. REDUCED PARKING FOOTPRINT (1) 1 point To reduce the environmental harms about parking space. My design will not exceed the minimum local code requirements for parking capacity. We provide a lot of street parking space. And a huge public parking area just within 100 meters.

4. LT CREDIT: GREEN VEHICLES (1) 1 point We provide at least 10% of all parking spaces used for green vehicles. And the green parking space is for free. We provide EVSE systeam for green vehicles.

5. SITE DEVELOPMENT—PROTECT OR RESTORE HABITAT(1-2) 2 point My whole property has more than 50% space with original natural environment. Including tree and garden. I will keep at least 40% space for back yard for my building. Other space will use for additional parking space.

DESIGN CONCEPT

My design concept is growth. For seniors, the most important is to make them feel the hope and confidence in the future life. Growth represents one of the most tenacious of life activity process. Such as plant growth must break through the soil. Growth can be a period, also can be an action or a trend. All the plants are accompanied by germination, growth, flowering, blossom and die. Growth is one of the most important process can give people hopefully. In my design, I will use a lot of plants to express the plant growth process. At the same time, I’ll use design to show a trend of growth. I will try to show a positive strength of will and hopefully.

SITE ANALYSIS

Presidio of San Francisco has many beautiful houses, buildings, open space and a lot of jogging trails. Presidio total have more than 790 buildings, more than half are history site. These building includes warehouse, administration building, officers, dormitory, medical building, and hangar. All of these buildings reflect the local development of more than 200 years. The main street Including Taylor Rd, Montgomery, St, Anza Ave, Graham St, Lincoin Blvd, and Presidio Blvd..Etc., tourists and residents can walk and play in these streets.

My building in the Main Post area, around including Presidio Vistor Center, Presidio Officers’ club, Korean War Memorial, a San Francisco National Cemetery, Walt Disnet Family Museum. In the Southern wilds, there also are Andy goldsworthy ‘s spire, Andy goldsworthy’ s Wood Line and Presidio golf course. And In the north side, there is the famous Golden Gate Bridge. In presidio, the total population is 3309. The male 1732, female 1577. All the residents of 2237 are white-collar, blue-collar 938. The people with a bachelor’s degree are 1542, graduate degree In 450. The average household income is $109406.

Montgomery St, Anza Ave, Graham St, and Owen St are around my building. On the side of the building is Presidio Main Post Parking Lot, here have a Lot of Parking space, Parking is very convenient. INTERIOR DESIGN

DESIGN CONCEPT UBRAN GEOMETRICS

In a large number of urban life today, more and more people who lives in city are familiar with geometrics. It can be said that geometrics is a symbol of minimalist art and modern art. So gradually, here word be created-urban geometrics. Patchwork of high-rise building, square shape with streets, and even the life style(two dot one line, nothing special)have created ubran geometric. If the circle is formed by numerous of straight lines, then the geometrics should exist in all things. Can animals be geometrically? Plant? Mountains and rivers? I think the answer is yes. So I think geometrics is not just represent urban and modernized. If geometrics represents urban life, then I hope to be able use geometric graphics to show the relationship between the city and nature, and the relationship between mankind in nature. Then my design must be modern, minimalist, high-tech. These are very important to reach the brand identity of my client (National Geograph). After research the website design of the national geograph, I believe my idea is correct. National Geographic website gives me the first image is simple, white background color gives the picture a very clear focus point. Gray font gives me a high tech feel, logo is very famous yellow box. All the design performance can be expressed in a word - directly, which is similar to my idea. The headquarters of National Geography in San Francisco must show the feeling of modern city of and high-tech, on the other hand with geometric graphics to show the Bold yet subtle, striking yet understated. In recent years, trend for geometrics has been more around natural shapes, Neatly arranged, symmetrical, straight lines, these elements not only in my plane circulation, but also vertical circulation.

How will your client’s organizational structure influence the goals, objectives, and performance criteria for this project?

62

In my project, the client's design requirements are the combination of office space and visitor interaction space. The interactive space includes the coffee area, the exhibition hall, which are open to the public. And as the client's headquarters, the main organizers include Regional Manager, Senior Editor, Senior Web Editor, Art Director, Controller, Marketing Director. These need me to think more about what's the relationship between public area and private office space. For example, store, exhibition hall must be away from the private office, best in different floors. Independent offices also need to have some oversight capacity for public offices area, not too far away. My idea is to put the public space on the first floor, the main office space on the second floor. This will not affect the interaction of visitors, but also does not affect the privacy of office area.

Your client for this project is an organization with a global reach and impact. It is very active in educating the public about issues related to global cultures, economic disparity, and natural preservation. How can your project design give voice to the client organization’s mission and values? National geography often means that authority, science, quasi-official. For most people, it's more like an encyclopedia of nature than just a magazine. National geography has been committed to protecting environmental resources and world culture for many years. So, as such a global influence of the company's office headquarters, I have to consider more. First of all, a national geography office headquarters must reflect a kind of unique, this uniqueness comes from the customer's corporate culture - a kind of respect for the cultural environment and the earth species. Second, the overall design must show a rigorous feeling, because the client is an authoritative company representing the magazine industry. Finally, the interaction is also the goal for my client, so throughout the office

INTERIOR DESIGN

Born in China, and raised in Sichuan. living in Chengdu, Sichuan. After graduating from high school decided to come to the United States to study the interior building. He was very interested in architecture while he is a child and dream to become an architect. But as he grew older, he began to understand the charm of interior design from his family and friends. He likes lighting and structural design, and he thinks these two point are the souls of every design project. He believes that as a designer, the most important thing is not to create a design, but to understand the relationship between each thing. Design process is not to created, but by the designer’s knowledge. So he never stopped learning trip.
