The last 12 months have been a rollercoaster, to say the least. If nothing else, it revealed to many that they were merely going through the motions of life, and not living the life they really wanted to live. What do you do when you come to such a life-changing realization?

Studies show that most people won’t stay committed to changing their lives long enough to realize their desired change. It can feel daunting when viewed on the surface and through the lens of our past experiences. However, it is not as daunting as we think, and it is definitely possible to stay committed to the process. How do we stay committed to the process of creating the life that we want until that change is noticeable in our lives?

The first step is the person looking back at you in the mirror; this can be difficult because we usually live a life based on who we think we are instead of who we actually are. Are you a person of integrity? Do you do what’s right even when no one is looking? It is almost impossible to have the life you want without integrity. If you’re not honest with others, you won’t be honest with yourself, and you may start or continue to move the finish line. You can tell you moved the finish line when you find yourself frustrated and going in circles.

The ability to identify the gaps between the person you are and the person you want to be to accomplish your goals is necessary to create the life you want. Do your habits support your goals, or do they hinder them? If you want a healthy life, you’ll have to ditch the unhealthy habits that are a part of your lifestyle. Who are you, and who do you need to become to create the life you want? Once you have done the hard work of self-assessment, you have to move on to rearranging your life to facilitate the progress and growth you desire in your life. Otherwise, you will spend most of your time swimming upstream. Assess and get rid of harmful habits and behaviors, and replace them with habits that help you. Are you reading things that help you create the life you want?

There is a limitless amount of information at our fingertips at any moment. Research the things you want in your life. If you want financial independence, you have to learn what it takes to have it. Arrange your life needs to maximize time and put yourself in the best position to change. Do you have the right people around you? You will be the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Is your circle helping you along your journey, or are they holding you back? Be disciplined and consistent even when the results are delayed. Arguably, the most neglected step in creating the life you want is taking action. Life doesn’t respond to desire alone, but it responds to action. What type of action are you taking? Have you ventured outside of your comfort zone? Happiness is often found just a few inches outside of our comfort zones. If we continue to do what we’ve always done, we will continue to get the results we have always obtained.

Take a chance, be adventurous, and take ACTION! You will have to overcome the need to know the outcome before taking necessary steps forward. This requires being patient and brave. Clarity comes with action. As you "Arrange your life needs to maximize time and put yourself take a step forward, the next step will be revealed. Sooner or later, in the best position to change." you will look up, and you will have created the life you want. Remember to always self-assess, properly arrange your life, and be an action taker! The life you want has been waiting for you. You just have to show up.
