assembled over a period of decades by New York coin dealer Herbert Kreindler. Active participants in the field of ancient coins require little in the way of an introduction to
Kreindler himself. His reputation was developed over years of working in the numismatic trade as a dealer, auctioneer, author and publisher. Fewer people were aware of the extent of his numismatic library and the diligence, patience and effort that Kreindler applied to developing it. While he did not necessarily attempt to acquire every publication on a given topic, he did attempt—with remarkable success—to acquire everything he considered useful on the subject.
