J. MOSES BROWNING John Moses Browning was born on 23rd January 1855, in Ogden, 35 miles north of Salt Lake City (Utah, USA), between the Great Salt Lake and the Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

Gun-making ran in the family of the young John Moses, as his father was a gunsmith who had already been responsible for a number of innovations in the field. As a young boy, he spent time in his father’s workshop, and knew the name of every part of a gun before he could read.
Despite his astonishment at finding two young men in their twenties in a rustic workshop, the man was perceptive enough not to be fooled by appearances and signed commercial deals with them as soon as he could. The decision was a wise one: these agreements would last for several decades.
It won’t take long for anyone who has looked at his creative development to be certain: In 1878, at the age of only 23, John Moses registered his first patent, for the “John Moses Browning single-shot rifle”, an invention that simplified the percussion mechanism, whilst making it sturdier at the same time, and more reliable as well.
Browning had a future. Over the years, Browning granted licenses to several manufacturers for dozens of inventions and firearms. He invented almost everything in the field of firearms. The creativity and level of perfection of his inventions were so significant that the vast majority of his technological innovations could not be improved upon or replaced for several years.
Shortly before his death, his father handed over his business to John Moses. With his brother Matt, even with less than one thousand dollars in the bank and no experience of machine-tool operation, young Browning transformed the humble store into a small gun making workshop with seven employees. The remoteness of their store, the low number of ready customers, and the lack of capital meant that the business struggled to survive until luck intervened to make the inventor’s talents known to a connoisseur: a representative from Winchester. In another state in the US, this representative had come across a gun made by the Browning brothers. Firmly convinced of the interest of their conception, he bought it from its owner and sent it to his superiors in the company’s head office. So impressed were they that the

In 1925, John Moses Browning put the finishing touches on the prototype of an Over and Under which would change the history of the hunting shotgun. He called it simply B25, for “Browning 1925”. He died of a heart attack while working in his office in Herstal on 26 November 1926. It was his 61st visit to Belgium. His body was repatriated to the United States, where he was buried with full military honours. His son Val continued his collaboration with the Belgian factory without interruption. That collaboration continues to this very day.
The world of firearms is like the art world: the success of creators depends on the interest of well-informed amateurs. In 1897, it was one of the directors of the Fabrique Nationale (National Weapons Factory) at Herstal in Belgium, who noticed a 7.65 Browning pistol incorporating a new locking mechanism. He saw the appeal straight away and the NWF obtained the manufacturing license.

Before they are put on the market, Browning’s guns have to undergo a wide range of extremely rigorous tests. These are B.A.C.O. (Browning Arms Company) internal tests. None of its products will be approved unless it clearly meets the following 6 requirements. In addition, we carry out a systematic inspection process of all mass-produced guns, which involves many checks to ensure that every gun sold meets Browning’s exacting criteria with regard to quality, performance and reliability.

BROWNING
The purpose of these highly-demanding tests, which are conducted on both shotguns and rifles, is to ensure they operate correctly whatever types of cartridges are used. Thousands of cartridges are therefore fired to ensure the guns reliability; no broken or excessively worn parts are tolerated during this test. If such faults are found, they are returned on a systematic basis to Research and Development.
When developing a new product, the purpose of this test is to try out the guns in the worst possible weather conditions, using polar temperatures of –30°C and very high temperatures of up to +50°C. The gun has to operate perfectly at these temperatures, using a wide range of cartridges. You can therefore use our guns in the most testing conditions, in all circumstances and with complete confidence.
When a new product is being developed, it undergoes a wide variety of tests, which are generally more demanding than applicable C.I.P. norms, including a set of ”torture tests”. A set of guns are subjected to excessive pressure tests and obstruction tests to ensure the strength and reliability of our guns. In addition, we conduct safety tests, which consist of dropping the gun onto its different sides to check its reliability and safety. The legendary strength and reliability of Browning’s guns is largely due to their completing all these tests successfully.
When they are manufactured, every gun is subject to a very wide variety of visual inspections and measurements, and has to meet the requirements of the specifications in every respect. All guns manufactured are fired to ensure their precision and that they are operating properly.
We check the precision of every gun which emerges from our workshops. For shotguns, we check the quality of the shot patterns as well as the proper convergence of the barrels at 35 metres. For rifles, we check the precision and pattern of every gun.

Besides a set of Olympic triggers, on this model we have included a top rib tapered from 12 to 8mm together with ventilated sideribs. It is available in 76 and 81cm versions. Better shot patterns and optimisation of barrel weights and profiles are the main reasons that led us to create the new Invector DS™ (Double Seal) interchangeable choke system. The combination of its muzzle thread and the thinness of its walls, have enabled us to design a longer choke with an exclusive interior profile for improved shot distribution. From the cylindrical model through to the Extra-Full models, shot-patterns are better graded. Extremely dense and constant shot-patterns can be obtained with the longer inside profile. The outside profile on the muzzle, which holds the choke housing, has been optimised and thinned down.
Besides improving the general appearance of the gun, this modification improves the weight distribution on the barrel, which, in turn, improves the whole gun’s swing and balance. Invector DS™ chokes have been designed to reduce shot-pattern distortion and make sure that they have less empty zones. Our exclusive inside profile also gives higher load speeds for better performance on impact. To avoid or reduce fouling due to gas penetrating between the choke itself and the barrel, we have fitted a new patented brass seal. This seal is compressed against the inner wall of the barrel when the choke is tightened in its housing. The ring prevents the Invector DS™ from unscrewing when firing, and therefore guarantees that chokes stay clean and makes them easy to fit or remove.
Rapid loading systems have been used on Browning® semi-automatic shotguns for decades. Our patented loading system sends the first shell in the magazine directly into the chamber. In addition, thanks to the rapid unloading system, unloading operations are both simple and fast, without needing to operate the bolt for sending each shell into the chamber.

When hunting and at your firing station, you can feed a cartridge into the chamber of your gun and then use the manual cocking system to put the cocking plunger in the “uncocked” position. Your rifle is now safe.
You can just as easily uncock your gun by pressing on the cocking pushbutton on the top of the plunger. This removes the load from the hammer springs and makes your gun inoperational, and therefore safe.
When you want to fire, you just have to push the plunger forward. Your rifle is now ready to fire and all that you still need to do is to squeeze the trigger.
It is a very simple easy-to-use system that gives your rifle an extra important degree of safety.

The new Invector DS™ chokes provide unrivalled performance by providing an optimal length of 80mm, an exclusive internal shape and a patented gas seal segment. The optimal 80mm length enables an exclusive internal shape to be developed, which optimises performances over all shooting distances and ensures a uniform concentration of the shot pattern when using lead or steel shot. The new patented Invector DS™ (Double Seal) Chokes offer a double seal. They are fitted with a compression ring that limits penetration of combustion gas between the choke and barrel. The thread on the muzzle side forms an obstacle to prevent exhaust gasses from entering. The ring stops the Invector DS™ from unscrewing when firing. This guarantees that the choke stays clean and is easy to remove under any conditions.
After extensive shooting of 500 rounds of the dirtiest loads, competitor’s choke tube that don’t have a gas seal show significant grit and residue buildup on the tube. The innovative gas seal on Browning® Invector-DS tubes keeps the choke tube cleaner, for easier removal and installation.

1911-.22LR On the 100th birthday of the legendary 1911 pistol, we are proud and happy to present you with a re-dimensioned version of this mythical gun in .22LR calibre. The Model 1911 pistol was created by John Moses BrowningŽ at the beginning of the 1900’s to reply to a call for tenders made by the American army for a .45 calibre pistol. The pistol then became the most widespread and most popular handgun. This new resized version respects the proportions and functionalities of its ancestor perfectly, whilst offering a more compact gun with an exceptionally low weight, barely 430 grams. The slide is machined in a single aluminium block, the side grooves make it extremely easy to hold and handle, and fluid and easy to use. The aluminium receiver also has amat black finish. The barrel, made from molybdenum chrome steel has a barrel insert machined from a single stainless steel block. The magazine with a capacity of ten rounds is in heat treated steel to guarantee long service life and reliability of loading. The manual safety catch is well-dimensioned. Like the original model, the 1911-.22 has a pistol grip safety system.

J. MOSES BROWNING John Moses Browning was born on 23rd January 1855, in Ogden, 35 miles north of Salt Lake City (Utah, USA), between the Great Salt Lake and the Wasatch-Cache National Forest.
managing director of Winchester himself set out straight away on a six-day journey to what, at that time, was still the Wild West - the real Wild West, to meet the Browning brothers.
Gun-making ran in the family of the young John Moses, as his father was a gunsmith who had already been responsible for a number of innovations in the field. As a young boy, he spent time in his father’s workshop, and knew the name of every part of a gun before he could read.
Despite his astonishment at finding two young men in their twenties in a rustic workshop, the man was perceptive enough not to be fooled by appearances and signed commercial deals with them as soon as he could. The decision was a wise one: these agreements would last for several decades.
It won’t take long for anyone who has looked at his creative development to be certain: In 1878, at the age of only 23, John Moses registered his first patent, for the “John Moses Browning single-shot rifle”, an invention that simplified the percussion mechanism, whilst making it sturdier at the same time, and more reliable as well.
Browning had a future. Over the years, Browning granted licenses to several manufacturers for dozens of inventions and firearms. He invented almost everything in the field of firearms. The creativity and level of perfection of his inventions were so significant that the vast majority of his technological innovations could not be improved upon or replaced for several years.
Shortly before his death, his father handed over his business to John Moses. With his brother Matt, even with less than one thousand dollars in the bank and no experience of machine-tool operation, young Browning transformed the humble store into a small gun making workshop with seven employees. The remoteness of their store, the low number of ready customers, and the lack of capital meant that the business struggled to survive until luck intervened to make the inventor’s talents known to a connoisseur: a representative from Winchester. In another state in the US, this representative had come across a gun made by the Browning brothers. Firmly convinced of the interest of their conception, he bought it from its owner and sent it to his superiors in the company’s head office. So impressed were they that the

In 1925, John Moses Browning put the finishing touches on the prototype of an Over and Under which would change the history of the hunting shotgun. He called it simply B25, for “Browning 1925”. He died of a heart attack while working in his office in Herstal on 26 November 1926. It was his 61st visit to Belgium. His body was repatriated to the United States, where he was buried with full military honours. His son Val continued his collaboration with the Belgian factory without interruption. That collaboration continues to this very day.
The world of firearms is like the art world: the success of creators depends on the interest of well-informed amateurs. In 1897, it was one of the directors of the Fabrique Nationale (National Weapons Factory) at Herstal in Belgium, who noticed a 7.65 Browning pistol incorporating a new locking mechanism. He saw the appeal straight away and the NWF obtained the manufacturing license.

Unique in Europe, Sabournac is a private hunting estate that has been organising mallard shoots over the last twenty years or so on the principles of the large “English style shoots”.
