EXETER Gun dog training requires a lot from the dog, trainer and equipment. Especially the equipment is very exposed when training in the field, woods and water. Seeland’s Exeter is manufactured to withstand the high wear that clothes are exposed to during dog training. Meanwhile, Exeter is equipped with a lot of great details that make dog training a breeze. The many spacious pockets provide room for a lot of equipment, and the particularly spacious and easily accessible back pocket is ideal for dog training. Exeter is produced in a mixture of polyester and cotton, and reinforced with a strong polyamide on the front of the pants and certain exposed places. Exeter comes in both ladies’ and men’s versions. At Seeland we do not make boots - we make hunting boots. Hunting rubber boots must meet a number of very specific requirements. They must be flexible to enable you to squat for a long time without getting tired, they must be light to enable you to walk for a long time. They must provide stability to give you good grip in rough terrain. They must be noiseless in order for you to avoid detection... The right kind of boot is crucial to the hunt; this is why we do our own product development. We develop all materials and functionalities for our boots ourselves - this way, we are able to give you boots that are tailored to your hunt and at the same time give you top quality at reasonable prices. The majority of our models is available in extra large sizes. All sizes are US sizes.

HANDMADE SEELAND RUBBER BOOTS

VULCANIZED

Every single natural rubber piece is handcrafted over an aluminium last. In order satisfy all needs for fit and function Seeland uses several different lasts, depending which function the rubber boot is developed for.

After all rubber pieces have been hand layed over the last the boot is ready to be vulcanized. By using several rubber pieces you create a perfect fit and you can reinforce specific areas on the boot where you need more protection.

Making a Seeland rubber boot needs real shoemakers who know their craft very well. We use the best available raw rubber in order to make very strong and functional boots which will maintain the natural rubbers abilities even under extreme low temperatures.

The vulcanization is done in a type of oven at 120-130C degrees for about 1 hour. Here all the rubber pieces are vulcanized to one piece. Resulting in a 100% waterproof and strong boot.

TESTING FOR LEAKS

Seeland natural rubber 52â&#x201E;˘ Fully vulcanized and handmade with natural rubber. The combination of high quality natural rubber (52%) and added components makes this natural rubber very durable and functional in all temperatures.

At Seeland we test each rubber boot after its vulcanization to make sure that it is waterproof. Air is channelled into the boot, and at the same time it is lowered into water. The combination of high quality natural rubber (72%) and added components makes this natural rubber upper very durable and hard wearing. Adequate insulation is usually the same as considerable weight. This is why warm boots are often heavy, which decreases comfort and increases fatigue on long hikes. Seeland now introduces a series of boots in the lightweight material EVA, which is both ultra-light and highly durable. EVA consists of tiny, air-filled polymer-marbles. Seeland’s lightweight boots weigh about one kilo less than any pair of comparable hunting boots, and this makes a world of difference to your total weight. In spite of their high insulating power, these boots will support your foot and ankle, and this makes them extremely useful for short hikes to and from posts. All boots come with the soft 4X4ATH sole, which provides you with excellent footing and makes them suitable for -30˚ -5˚and for-10˚ -20˚ the cold soft surfaces. BINOCULARS Choosing the right binoculars can be a difficult and confusing task. To help you make the right decision we have made this small guide and glossary.

The magnification and the objective lens diameter give you vital information about the binoculars lenses and scope of application. These two values are stated by two figures for example. 7X42. The first figure states the binoculars magnification and the second the objective diameter in millimetres. A small magnification gives a better field of view, sharper depth-of-field and few details. A large magnification gives a more detailed picture, a smaller field of view and little depth-of-field sharpness. The objective diameter determines the amount of light that can enter the binoculars. This determines the light transmission efficiency. Which binoculars to choose For hunting it is not advisable to use a binocular with an objective diameter smaller than 35 mm. If you need a good light efficiency the objective diameter needs to be larger. Mountain and Extreme hunting 7-8 or 10 x magnification with an objective diameter between 35 and 45 mm. would be a good choice. Roe and Deer hunting For this type of hunting a wide range of binoculars will be suitable, depending on terrain and light conditions. Your choice should be based on the general recommendations made in the guide. An 8X42 would make a good all-round choice. All-round use Good all-round binoculars have magnification between 7 and 10 times and an objective diameter up to 42mm.

GLOSSARY Coating Coating is a microscopic layer of refractive material, such as magnesium fluoride. This is applied to the lenses in order to improve the light transmission and minimise reflexes. The best type of coating is a full coating. Magnification Magnification is a measure of how many times better you can see an object through your binoculars than with your naked eye. In the standard specifications for a binocular model, magnification is reflected by the first number you see. For instance, a 10X magnification: Means that you see an object that is 100 meters away as if it was 10 meters away. Objective lens diameter The diameter of the objective lens is expressed in millimetres. The size of objective lenses determines the amount of light that can enter your binoculars. It combines with magnification, exit pupil, type of coating and type of prism to determine overall light transmission efficiency. Field-of-view Field-of-view is the actual width of the sight picture provided by your binoculars at a distance of 1,000 metres Field-of-view may also be expressed in degrees, one degree is equal to 17,5 meters so if the Field-of-View is 8 degrees that equals 140 metres (8X17.50)

Riflescopes To choose a riflescope you need to take different factors into account, light transmission, magnification, field of view and the objective diameter. Many riflescopes have variable magnification; this makes it possible to choose the right magnification for almost any type of terrain, distance and light condition.

Exit Pupil The amount of light that reaches your shooting eye described in millimetres when holding the binoculars at arm’s length, it’s the small, circular image that’s visible in each eyepiece lens. The average adult eye dilates to a maximum of 7mm in extreme low light conditions. For binoculars to deliver their full light gathering capability, the exit pupil must be equal to or greater than the diameter of your pupil at any given moment. 2-3 mm is sufficient in normal daylight, in low light conditions it needs to be at least 5 mm. The exit pupil is found by dividing the objective diameter with the magnification 10X42=4.2mm Twilight performance The twilight performance gives a basic evaluation of low light performance, however, one must keep in mind that it is a mathematical expression and does not take into account glass quality, number of lenses, precision of manufacturing and coatings. The twilight performance is calculated by first multiplying the magnification by the objective lens diameter and then finding the square root of the result.
