Lower Havel Waterway and the Elbe Wide plains and wooded glens dominate the Havel en-route to the Elbe. In the beautiful parks you will find the flora and fauna described by Fontane in his “walks”. The waterway is a wide, leisurely river with few locks and many lakes for swimming and safe anchors. On the descent between Magdeburg and Havel mountain, the water flows at an average of 5 kilometres per hour. For an experienced skipper by driving your boat carefully it almost feels like you’re surfing.

KUHNLE-TOURS gives you the opportunity to experience the perfect boating holiday. We own more than 130 boats along Europe’s finest waterways. In Germany, our home waters are in and around the capital of Berlin, but we also offer various possibilities along the Baltic Sea. Bright yellow fields, dark green tree-lined roads and shimmering waterways: the lakes and rivers in Mecklenburg, Brandenburg and Berlin offer a splendid trip. Fishing is excellent, canoeing in the many little brooks is a lot of fun, other activities include shopping (Berlin and Potsdam), eating out (everywhere), watching the wildlife and sunbathing. Mecklenburg Lake District Our main location for boating holidays is right in the centre of this region, on the southeast shore of the Müritz, Mecklenburg‘s largest lake. KUHNLE-TOURS is the biggest charter company in this region. 2500 kilometres of rivers, well over 1000 lakes lakes and canals are waiting for you. Practically untouched nature, cultural highlights and historic sights are there for you to enjoy. Life will seem almost perfect cruising through a landscape overflowing with wild flowers and rare waterbirds. You will pass one lake after another, each as beautiful as the last, but none the same. We offer a large number of oneways between our seven bases. Berlin and Brandenburg Waterways Discover the heart of Berlin by boat: The Brandenburg Gate, symbol of the divided city, is only a few steps from the banks of the river Spree. Also the new and old buildings (e.g. the Reichstag) of the German government are located along the Spree. The 183 kilometres of city canals and rivers offer a wonderful opportunity to discover the unique appeal of the different parts of town. Leaving Berlin you can either head Southeast, where you cruise through a whole series of lakes connected by winding river sections with an attractive boathouse at the end of each adjoining garden. Or you can travel Southwest, where the River Havel offers plenty of good boating areas until you reach the waterways around Potsdam, where you can visit the beautiful palace of Sanssouci. Pass through the Glienicker Bridge where the Western world exchanged spies with the Soviets. North of Berlin you discover the ancient Finow Canal and the river Oder. Our 3 bases around Berlin offer numerous cruise and one way options. Rügen, Bodden and Oder The island of Rügen is known by various nicknames, one being “Riviera of the North“ another being the “Channel coast of the East“. The seemingly endless white beaches, the imperial baths with their great architecture of the late 19th century and the white cliffs are just on one side of the island. On the other side, the inside waterways called “Bodden“ are a peaceful boating area with a wide variety of attractions. Quiet bays and beaches, little fishing villages with well-equipped harbours, smaller and bigger islands, nature parks and the big cities of the “Hanse“ with numerous things to explore. Our base in Stralsund is right in the centre and very well-equipped. Oneways to the bases Stettin, Zehdenick or Hafendorf Müritz are also possible.

Idyllic villages and towns

Our fleet is located in Alsace-Lorraine. The rivers (Mosel and Saar) and numerous canals are fantastic to explore. Here we have meandering rivers intersecting with straight canal-sections. The route is diverse in that it runs through mountainous areas, vast fields of open countryside, and busy towns like Strasbourg, Nancy, Metz or Trier. The rivers Mosel and Saar are characterised with quaint little wine villages and historic buildings. Cruising along is a real trip back in time and dining ashore is a culinary delight. Canal de la Marne au Rhin and Saar Expansive grain-fields, woods with plenty of game, picturesque villages and a number of reservoirs and lakes characterize these two canals. The main attraction of a boating holiday in Alsace-Lorraine lies in the historic architecture of the canalside buildings and structures, including the huge lock of Réchicourt and the boat-lift of St. Louis-Arzviller. The 290 kilometers of the Canal de la Marne au Rhin connects the basin around Paris with the plain of the river Rhine. Navigating several locks it travels through the Vosge mountains and the LorraineDepartment. Our main base, Niderviller is situated at the top where there is a long section with no locks. After this highest point the canal runs through two tunnels and drops down again into the lovely Alsacien valley of the river Zorn and on to Lutzelbourg, a village famous for glass-blowing. Towering above the village is a castle FührerFranzöGeschichte Radfahren Feindating back to the 12th century. locks further down isscheinfreies Saverne sische Several erleben schmeckerRevier LebensRevier with its pretty old houses and busy little shops. art The Canal de la Sarre leads from the Etang de Gondrexange at the Canal de la Marne au Rhin to Sarreguemines, situated about 80 kilometres further North. The lakes on either side offer great views with some great swimming. The canal winds down in three major curves until it gets into the Saar-valley. River Saar offers many places to see, among them the famous Saar Bow near Mettlach. The wine region Mosel and Saar The early part of this region is characterised by wide green fields with the occasional industrial area, the later section (between Toul and Thionville) enjoys beautiful vineyards. The French part of the river has only short canal sections. The cities, like Pont-à-Mousson and Metz have good mooring facilities within an easy stroll of beautiful old quarters. We highly recommend Metz which is a former bishops’ and imperial city and is well–known for its cathedral with its famous glass paintings and the new Centre Pompidou Metz. Thionville is great for night life containing many squares where you can enjoy the cafes, restaurants and bars whilst savouring the atmosphere. The castle town of Sierck-les-Bains is where the Mosel says goodbye to France. Remich and Grevenmacher are the major cities on the Luxembourg Mosel. But also the smaller towns are worth a visit. Pass by Schengen, the place where Europe, as we know it today, has begun and Wormeldange, where you can go up the “Koeppchen”, probably the most expensive vineyard in Luxembourg. Destinations like Trier with its Roman sites and the medieval town of Saarburg are common stops on a tour on these rivers.

Warta Networks - Lakes District Part of the Greater Poland Ring and almost 700 km long is the Warta Network Lake District. The waterways from Konin the south through to the sea Wolitzer (Jezioro Wolickie) in the north are over 100 km long – this regions is accessible by our "Kormorant boats". The Slesiner channel connects the lakes in Slesin (Jezioro Pątnowskie, Mikorszynskie, Ślesińskie and Czarne) with the Gopło. From Gopło the Upper networks (Notec Gorna) flows through five lakes to the north. The turning point for the trip is the Wolickie lake. Swampy peat bogs dominate the landscape. It is worth making a shore excursion in Warzymowo. The jetty is located directly in front of the small Gothic church of St. Stanislaus in Kruschwitz (Kruszwica). Warzymowo has a Mouse Tower and boasts the remains of Casimir castle and the Basilica of St. Peter and Paul, Pakosch (Pakość). Shin (Barcin) is an interesting historic town with many facilities plus a 165-meter high observation tower. Our charter is based on Slesiner Lake, a popular destination for water sports. Further south, fringed by trees and reeds Mikorzyner Rinnensee (Jezioro Mikorzyńskie) has lots of ports and bathing. Peaceful, Patnower lake (Jezioro Pątnowskie) is suitable for anchoring. In KoninGosławice the gothic knight’s castle, church, huge Basilica and the Marian Shrine in Licheń Stary are worth a visit. After a couple of locks you reach the Warta River, which will take you to Konin.

The waterways of Poland enjoy a wide range of mooring facilities many of which have been developed following the EU accession. The region also enjoys easy access from the Gdańsk and Warsaw airports with a good highway leading to the two Polish cruising areas. The area has seen a tourist boom with significant infrastructure renovation (Locks, bridges, etc). The region now also has many restaurants with varied menus of fresh seasonal fare. The huge benefit in Poland are the prices - consistently cheaper than France - e.g. a 3 course meal in an upmarket restaurant complete with drinks will set you back just 25 Euros. Gdańsk Vistula and Elbląg Canal New for 2014 is a recently undiscovered cruising area. Nestling on the south coast of the Baltic Sea on the eastern side, near Gdańsk is a freshwater lagoon. The lagoon is fed from a several rivers, notably the Elbląg, Vistula and the Nogat. With interconnecting channels and canals and minimal locks the area is a boaters heaven, easy cruising, stunning unspoilt scenery. On the historical side do not forget a visit to the ancient hanseatic city of Gdańsk with its typical Baltic Architecture overlooking a sparkling new marina. Of course there is also the main town of Malbork (Marienburg) which has a notably historic building on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Our base in the town of Elbląg is situated on the largest estuary in the Vistula Lagoon. The Elbląg is powered by a large lake area, with the individual lakes connected by the Elbląg Canal with its spectacular ship a set of inclined planes, a masterpiece of 19th century hydraulic engineering, which even today (following a thorough restoration) is in operation. The Masurian Lakes The Great Masurian Lakes regions is legendary with its amazing scenery and over 3000 lakes, 25 of which are interconnected making it the ideal cruising area. The lakes are nicknamed in Polish “sky eyes“ due to the stunning emerald and ultramarine colours generated when reflecting the sky. Not only does the region offer the lakes but on land Mazury has beautiful quiet cobbled streets, ancient avenues and extensive natural birdlife with storks, sea eagles, cranes and bright canola fields, an unparalleled boating area. With our base in the south in Piaski we are nearby the native settlement “Galindia” on Lake Beldahn, where there are some amazing (and bizarre carvings) alternatively you are able to soak in the sprawling catacombs with a cold beer. Adjacent you have the 114 square kilometers of Lake Spirding almost the same size as Müritz. Mikolajki the main town of the southern chain of lakes is considered by some to be the Masurian Venice. To the north are the 104 square-kilometer Lake Mamry, surrounded by dense mixed forests. The region has Gizycko considered by many to be the capital of water sports. It is in this region that you find Marina Sztynort, a good base for a trip back into history with a visit to the von Lehndorff family castle in Sztynort (famous for his involvement in Hitlers assassination attempt – for which he was executed) or visit the museum on rural life in Wegorzewo.

KUHNLE-TOURS: boating and cruising in Germany, France, Luxembourg, Poland and Holland

Kuhnle Werft (shipyard): professionals come aboard Lake Müritz and Niderviller (France)

my-boat.co New and used boats

Rundtörn Marinas: our superior berths for everyone in Germany and France

Cruising offers a side of Europe that most people do not get to see and is a truly relaxing holiday alternative. You may not be able to see all the famous sites in one visit but we can assure you that during a boating holiday you will learn a lot about Europe and abandon the shackles of your "everyday home routine". A great way for nature lovers as well as for people who are looking for fun or cultural adventures.

There is always plenty of work to do on a boat: the regular spring and autumn jobs, engine check-up or maybe an update for your boat electronics. At Kuhnle Shipyard there are professionals for every job on your boat. If you want to do things yourself, you can rely on our support if you get into difficulties. Craning and complete refit, certification of gas installations, osmotic renovation, painting, whatever your boat needs ... Our team also offers boat building with ideas – give your dreams a home, a Aquino or Kormoran! Maintaining Germany‘s largest charter fleet means that our mechanics have a vast experience to share with you.

A safe bet for boat owners or the ones who would like to become one and owners who would like to sell their boats: At my-boat.co you can find new boats by Kuhnle Werft (shipyard) as well as used boats from the KUHNLE-TOURS charter fleet or private owners – always with shipyard guarantee. Secure, reliable and transparent – like you know it from the Kuhnle-group.

We have six Rundtörn Marinas (roundtrip marinas) at which you can moor your boat – in the Northeast of Germany and in Alsace-Lorraine. Pay once, then stay and leave when and as long as you want – long term or short term. Our marinas: • Citymarina Stralsund • Marina Müritz (lake district) • Minimarina Mirow (lake district) • Bootshaus Zeuthen (Berlin waterways) • Marinas Niderviller (Alsace-Lorraine) All our marinas are situated at central locations of the boating areas and easy to reach by car or boat. They offer safe berths and a high standard of equipment.
