Skansen Skansen is an outdoor museum in Stockholm. It´s a big area with beautiful, old houses from Scandinavia and lots of different animals, for example elks, wolfs, seals, bears and much more… There is a building called “Skansen-‐Akvariet” where you can see everything from big tarantulas and poisonous snakes to crocodiles and monkeys. You can also walk inside the lemurs cage and if you are brave enough you can pat a shark, snake or a spider. Inside there is a shop too where you can buy souvenirs, like toys. A part of the big Skansen-‐area is called “Lill-‐Skansen” and it is often the small children´s favorite of whole Skansen. In “Lill-‐Skansen” there are small animals, for example cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, mini pigs, goats and more… You can go into the rabbit´s and goat´s paddock if you want. “Sollidenscenen” is a big stage in Skansen. Every Tuesday the whole summer they send a great TV-‐show from “Sollidenscenen” called “Allsång på Skansen”. It is very famous in Sweden and many great artists occur there. By the exit there is an amusement park with some old carousels for large and small. For visitors there are lots of different restaurants. Both more expensive restaurants and more simple waffle-‐shops. In the winter there's a big christmas market with beautiful handicraft and nearly all different kind of sweets. Then you can see the nordic animals outside and the small animals in “Lill-‐Skansen”.
Gärdet. Gärdet is a place close to the Technical Museum in Stockholm. It is a big field where people often let their dogs run free or go for a walk with them. It is very beautiful when the sun is up and you are completely free to go wherever you want for free and there are so much space that everyone has space to walk, run, let the kids play and generally have a good time. I recommend taking walks in the morning or eating lunch there in the summer since it’s a perfect place for picnics or a refreshing time for yourself. Even if there are other people there you are mostly by yourself since everyone is so spread out. It’s very relaxing in contrast to the noisy city with all its cars and pollution. Gärdet also offers a beachvolley course, a football course and american football goals. In the 1960s and 1970s the pupils of Konstfack School used to arrange the Dragonfestivals during the long weekend “Kristi Himmelsfärd” where people used to fly kites, and the Gärdet festivals. In 1940s to 1991s the royal flock of sheep used to feed on the grass there, during summer and spring. In the winter the entire field is covered in snow and if the snow melts, but freezes shortly after, it creates a lot of pools of ice which you can slide on during late winter. Taking walks there at that time will be fun for everyone. I myself like it for the feeling of freedom, the lack of noise and stuffiness. It is easily accessible, costs nothing and gives a relaxing feeling and time to think clearly. To get there you need to get to Vallhallavägen and Gärdet is right beside it. If you don’t have access to a car, the closest subway station is simply called Gärdet and it is on the red line. You can’t miss it. The bus also stops at the Technical Museum so you can use that as well.
The river that goes around Old Town Around the Old Town there is a river, this river goes around this old city. To visit the Royal Palace is free but has one problem that the King of Sweden works there, so you can´t get in to the Royal Palace. The Parliament is a bit easier to visit because they have guided tours every now and then and there´s a lot of fun in there if you want to learn about Swedish politics and a bit about the ones who ruled Sweden. In Old Town there’re a lot of museums, one that is great for the whole family and will amuse you for hours is the Royal Armory. Kungsträdgården Kungsträdgården is a beautiful park located in the middle of Stockholm city. The history of Kungsträdgården goes back to the 14th century but back then it was not much more then a meadow. The park has been used as multiple things throughout the centuries including a cabbage farm and a private baroque garden in the late 16th century. Kungsträdgården was for a long time exclusively only for the royal family and the royal court but in the 18th century it became open to the public too. It has a lot of activities which varies from season to season and close by caterings, cafes and ice cream bars. Långholmen Långholmen in Stockholm is a historic place and very popular to visit, both for Swedes and tourists. Here you can go and eat a spectacular brunch, go to the museum about the old Swedish prison or why not try to live like an inmate and spend the night in a prison cell on the hotel. Great fun for the whole family. There is certainly something for all and it’s both fun and educational-‐ a great place to visit. The house was built in 1649 on Långholmen and was owned by J. Ahlstedts. But in the year 1724 the state got the house and turned it into a women's prison on Långholmen. Later in 1825 they moved all the women to Norrmalm and made it a prison for men. Since then the prison has expanded. In 1825 there were 127 cells and this increased to about 500 cells in 1975 when it was shut down. Now it’s used as a hotell, restaurant, museum and more. The price depends on the season and of course on what you are going to do. But for example a brunch can cost 265:-‐ per person and if you go to brunch you'll get to visit the museum for free. Långholmen As the name suggests, Långholmen is a long narrow island where the city meets the nature. People also likes to call it ‘’the green island’’ because it looks so green next to the big city. Långhomen is the perfect place for families, friends or just anyone in summer time. It’s full of adventures, history, awesome places to swim and even some mystery. I love this island because of all the things you can do. Explore beautiful beaches, big rocks and history. Långholmen is just a walk away from Hornstull, but you can also take the buss to any close buss station and walk from there. Closest subway station: Hornstull Closest Buss stations: Högalidsgatan, Bergsunds Strand, Hornstull The green island: A long time ago, large quantities of soil were laid on the rock (Långholmen) and 3000 trees were planted by the prisoners. Thanks to this, the island is a green oasis. At the beginning of the 20th century, the city planned to make a park on the eastern side of the island, and some paths and planted areas were laid out. It is now that the island lived up to its reputation -‐ the green island in the heart of Stockholm. The prison: The prison closed down in 1975. The prison was historically one of the biggest prisons facilities in Sweden with more than 500 cells. Today the building is being used as a hotel/ mostel. In the old prison museum you can visit the cells and read about the prisons history. On the prison yard there is a café where you are able to eat inside the outside-‐cells. ‘’Prisoner for a day’’ is an activity you and your friends or family really should try. When Jonas opened the first O’Leary’s, it was a huge success and people from everywhere in Gothenburg wanted to try out Sweden’s first american restaurant. Älvsjö Konditori My absolute favorite cafe is located is the south of Stockholm and is a very good place to visit. if you want to relax and is hungry for something delicious. They have a marvelous offer and they have whatever you like. The cafe has been in generayons and it started 1933. They have many cakes and sweets to choose from. My favourite is the strawberry cake with jelly and vanilla cream. It’s nearly like a pie. To drink, you can have Tea, coffee and soz drinks. If you are very hungry, you can also have a good lunch. In the menu, you can find lunch opyons like sandwiches and salads. If you are going to have some kind of celebrayon, you can also order birthday cakes or other kind of cakes that you need for your party. The easiest way to find this excepyonal cafe is by the Suburban Train from Stockholm city to Älvsjö Stayon. Then, you need to go approximately 329 feet unyl you arrive at the cafe.
Hos Frank In a place called central/stan there is a restaurant called hos frank, the place serves everything that a hungry person with tastes for Gulasch, noodles, pasta or any spicy pots from pakistan. The place of the is in a place with quiet roads and other restaurants so the noises is mostly people talking and cars on the road close by. The place would have my recommendation for the easiness of getting there without or (metro) with a car. If you would like to pass the place for a look, there is is also a café menu for people who want coffee. So if you are a hungry tourist you know where to go now. Gamla brogatan nummer 25 mon-‐sun 09:00-‐19:30 https://sv-‐se.facebook.com/Hosfrank’
Hornsgatan Hornsgatan is the longest street on Södermalm and is one of Södemalms main streets for shopping. It goes all the way from Hornstull, Bergsundsstrand to Slussen, where some of the houses are built in the 1700-‐1800. Södermalm used to be the old working class district mainly, but now it’s become more and more popular and is now a lot of peoples first choice to live. At Hornsgatspuckeln at Slussen there are art galleries, where they do a Långlördag (long saturday) which is every last saturday in the month when they have the shops, art galleries and the cafes open a bit longer so you can take your time to look at everything. When you’re on the top of Hornsgatspuckeln you should take a walk down the stairs at Pustergränd that takes you all the way down to Södermälarstrand with an lovely view overlooking Gamla stan (Old Town).

If you’re looking to spend the day in Södermalm I would definitely recommend making your way to Zinkensdam by bus or the subway, and just stroll down to Mariatorget and Slussen. This is where all the fun shopping and small, cute cafes are. There’s a cafe called Vetebullen, in between Zinkensdam and Mariatorget, that offers the most delicious cinnamon buns. Which is a Swedish specialty and something you need to try when in Sweden.
Vetebullen
But when you’re looking for a night out I would absolutely recommend the Hornstull part of Hornsgatan, because of its really good restaurants and its fun and cool energy. My personal favourite is Ho’s, which is a chinese restaurant with the best fried chicken with sweet and sour sauce. It’s actually not on the menu anymore but if you ask for it they won’t have a problem with making it. The restaurant is really popular so if you’re planning on eating there on a Friday or Saturday I would recommend making a reservation a day or two in advance. Right across from Ho’s, the most amazing Indian restaurant called Tulsi has it’s location. The vegetarian food is especially devine. And if you’re in the mood for some sushi the restaurant right next to Tulsi, called Kaze Sushi has the best. Their premises is not that great, but you can always get your food as takeaway. And also, if you’re there in the spring or summer when it’s hot enough, you should definitely take your food outside to sit down in Tanto either on the grass or on a bench.

Årstadal There are a few places in Stockholm where man meets nature, one of those places is Årstadal. Located by the lake Mälaren it’s a perfect place for boat life, baths or just relaxing in the sun and enjoy an ice-‐cream. But Årstadal isn’t just close to the water it’s also close to a quiet large forest, and a kind of cool thing with this particular forest is all the viking graves which can be found with a little effort or by just finding signs that tells you about the graves. Eat & drink When you’re done exploring the forest you might be a little hungry. Well good thing -‐ Årstadal have a pretty wide range of restaurants and pubs to offer. You may for example go to “Primo Ciao Ciao” which is a very famous food empire which make italian inspired food and trust me, it’s worth the heavy price tag. Or if you want to experience a little taste of the Swedish kitchen you might want to take a look at “ The Black Swan” where you can order a lot of Swedish classics. There are many many more worth a visit but I can personally recommend the two mentioned above. Information You can get to Årstadal in a lot of ways but to avoid misunderstandings and lost travelers I would recommend you to start from T-‐centralen since it’s pretty easy to get there, so lets say you are at T-‐centralen. From T-‐centralen you take the following trains: Take the red line train south bound, step of at Liljeholmen From Liljeholmen you want to take the tram towards Sickla udde And DONE!
Now if you’re having a hard time knowing which way to go after leaving the tram you can just ask someone how to get to the Årstadal square, you might want to avoid elder people since they don’t speak very good English. Last word I hope that you take some time to witness the beauty of Årstadal and that you’re having a great time here in Stockholm, the capital of Scandinavia. ps. Don’t make eye contact at trains, just don’t
Ekensberg Ekensberg is a nice and calm place in the south west part of Stockholm. In Ekensberg you can either walk around and behold the beauty of Mälaren or you could take a swim in it. It’s around 20°C in the summer. But if you feel like going here in the winter you could always bring ice skates and have a nice time on the beautiful ice. But Ekensberg has not always been the place it is today. In 1873 a shipyard was built in Ekensberg by Stockholm’s Transport & Towing AB. The ship yard was originally started because of the company’s own use. But as time went other companies started to hire the shipyard. A famous person who liked Ekensberg is Bellman. And Ekensberg is in some of his texts. And in 1920 the people that lived in Ekensberg created a new sort of Swedish slang, called “ekenssnack”. You get to Ekensberg by taking the bus from Liljeholmen to Ekensberg which is the end station. For more information on how to get to Liljeholmen, visit www.sl.se Being in Ekensberg is completely free. But the journey with bus and subway costs a bit.
Winterviken In Vinterviken there is a café called Winterviken and its only 15 minutes away from Stockholm city. In their locals they can take up to 500 people so its the perfect place for any kind of parties. If you’re a smaller company they have smaller locals to. At Winterviken they also have catering so you can also have their food sent to another address if you already have a local. Markus and Erika Aujalay are the owners of the cafe. Marcus is a famous chef actually one of Swedens most famous chefs. Easiest way to get to Winterviken is to go to a place called Lilljeholmen. and you get there by bus, subway or local court, and then take a walk past by the beautiful lake Trekanten. After a 20-‐30 mins walk you’ll be there. Opening Hours and cafe menu All days 11:00-‐16:00 Monday: Hungarian goulash with sour cream and rice Thuseday: Meatloaf with cream sauce, lingonberries and pickled cucumber Wednesday:Fried anchovies herring with browned butter and potato Thursday: Fried anchovies herring with browned butter and potato Friday:Fish stew with fennel , white wine, aioli and croutons
Outside and nearby Right outside of the cafe there is a field where you and your family can have a lovely picnic. You can also see a beautiful garden right by the cafe. If you would like to see where Alfred Nobel was trying out the dynamite just take a walk for like five minutes and you will be at his blasting pits.
