Smultronställen i Stockholm.

The City library

If you like to read books, you should go to the City Library in Stockholm. The City Library is located near Odenplan. In the City Library you can find books for all ages and all genres. There are two sections. First there is one for children and youths and then they have one more section for all people but mostly for adults. You can find fantasy books there, poetry, scary books and a lot more. Sometimes in the evening you can listen to authors reading from their books. I recommend the City Library for all people!

Drottningholm

Drottningholm´s castle is located at Lovön in Mälaren and belongs to the Ekerö municipality. Ekerö is located in the west of Stockholm. Drottningholm’s castle has many beautiful parks and Sweden’s oldest sculpture park. About where the parking space is today the fruit garden used to be. The fruit garden gave them fruit and vegetables. Today there are only a pear tree and broadleaf plants left. Drottningholms’ castle has around 700000 visitors a year. When you are at Drottningholm’s castle you can go to the theater and look at the sculpture park. You can also visit the beautiful parks .

Eriksdalsbadet

I would really recommend a visit to Eriksdalsbadet if you like to go swimming. There are 3 outdoor pools and 5 pools inside but one of them is an adventure pool. The pools outdoor were built in 1929 and the new indoor pools are from 1999. And in the adventure pool you can swim out through a sort of door and you come out to a small outdoor pool.

The Fortress of Vaxholm

The construction of the Fortress of Vaxholm, started in around the beginning of the 15th century, when the country started to realize the strategic meaning of the island of Vaxholm. Therefore regent Svante Nilsson decided to raise a blockhouse on the island of Vaxholm. Gustav Vasa, the king of Sweden at the time, announced a defensive plan on the parliament of Västerås. That plan included a permanent fortification on Vaxholm, which would serve for two different things: one, to protect the inlet of Sweden, and two, to take out customs from passersby. 1604 and 1612, the “House on Vaxholm” received further additions, and more was built on it. 1833 a big reconstruction started, which would give the fortress its current form. Today the fortress is a popular tourist attraction, mainly the museum inside with the same name, with things mainly from the second world war. Also, there is actually a family who lives there. They are called Himmelstrand. Henning

Kรถpmangatan, Old Town

Kรถpmangatan is the oldest street of Stockholm. In the Middle Ages the merchants had their market stalls there. Kรถpmangatan is the earliest paved street in Stockholm. Today there are many shops and restaurants on Kรถpmangatan. Shops at Kรถpmangatan are mighty small but there are many fine things. There used to be an antique shop with gold, cutlery and old lamps etc. About three months ago there was a fire in the antique shop. I lived in the apartment above the antique shop, it became damaged by smoke but everyone survived.

In the 1500s , when the Bloodbath took place on Stortorget, Kristian the second was king of Sweden. Kristian the second was from Denmark and he was an evil king so he got the name Kristian Tyrant. Slussen

If you come to Stockholm you should go to Slussen. Under the ground you can find a lock. The lock is a junction for public transport erected in 1935 in Stockholm. You can take the subway, the SaltsjÜbanan or the bus from Slussen. On one side you can find the Salt Lake and on the other side Lake Mälaren. Now Slussen is going to be restored but many people don't like the idea.

Kungsträdgården

Kungsträdgården (Swedish for "King's Garden") is a park in the central of Stockholm. In Sweden we often call it Kungsan. The park's central location and its outdoor cafés make it into one of the most popular hangouts and meeting places in Stockholm. It also hosts open-air concerts and events in the summer, while offering an ice rink during winters. Additionally, First of May demonstrations held by the Left Party and other communist and leftwing parties usually take place here each year. There is also a number of cafés, art galleries and restaurants; for example Galleri Doktor Glas, a name taken from the novel Doctor Glas by Hjalmar Söderberg published in 1905.

The Globe

In Sweden we have a globe. It’s half a globe. The Globe is used, among other things, to football matches and concerts. It is located close to Johanneshovsbron in Stockholm. The Globe was built in 19 February 1989. The Globetop is onehundred and thirty meters over the water. In the middle there is a line that is called the equator and it looks like an equator. You can go with the little cabin on the outside of the Globe up to the top. At hockey matches there could be nineteen thousand people in the Globe.

Grand Hotel

Grand Hotel is located in Stockholm (the capital of Sweden) and it is very luxurous but expensive to live there. Grand Hotel has five stars and Grand Hotel has also been a home for many celebrities since 1874. Grand Hotel also has one of the best spas in Sweden. Grand Hotel is very great since it´s near GrÜna Lund (Green Grove) and Gallerian (The Mall). I love their drinks and I go there every New Year and if you want to live luxurous for some days then this is definitely a recommendation from me.

Nordiska kompaniet

The Nordic Company or Nordiska Kompaniet is one of Stockholm´s most popular shopping malls. Josef Sachs founded NK in 1902 and the main door to the luxery departement on Hamngatan opened in 1915, now you can even find one mall in the town Gothenburg. Have you ever been to Harrods in London? NK is like the Swedes´ version of it, just a bit smaller. In NK you can find clothes like a piké t-shirt, accesserories like a purse and interiors like a sofa, but I recommend you to go to IKEA if you want to buy a sofa. NK has two very special things, number one is Sweden´s oldest escalators and number two they don’t have any more but they had a golf course on the roof around 80 years ago. The grand opening of the golf course was held by Sigvard Bernadotte, a swedish prince, who was an golf enthusiast. In NK you can find stores like Tommy Hilfiger and Polo Ralph Lauren, They have also the store ICA which is a Swedish grossery store. If you can’t find NK you can look for a big spinning clock with the NK-sign in the air around you, if you find your way to the spinning clock you will see NK. NK is connected with the PK-house which is a very very small shoppingcentre. If I were a tourist who was going to Sweden, visiting NK should be one thing on a to-do list. Isaac

It is the only zoo park in Stockholm, and it is really big. There are peacocks and small chickens walking around free. There is actually a tunnel so you can see some animals under water. I like it at Skansen, and every word I say is true!
