My final project aims to create a space for small artists to exhibit on a bigger scale, which means that on the second floor (the glass rooms) would be a space where artists can exhibit their work as well as organize workshops and events. It would give them space where they could create together and help each other (benefit out of each other) in the right spirit of Bauhaus. This project also aims to bring back the original character of the building, in the form of a lookout tower, restaurant and cafĂŠ on the first floor.

Barbora Chmelarova Hello everyone, my name is Barbora but everyone calls me Babs. Originally from the Czech Republic, I love everything colourful, geometrical, graphical and that looks like terrazzo. But when I am trying to get away from Interior design, I like to go on hikes, bake, upcycle stuff like old furniture, taking photos on my DSLR, annoying my dog as much as I can and buying plants I do not really need but the thing I love the most is to travel around Europe on my motorbike and finding all kinds of inspiration while doing so. (I guess my attempts to not think about work does not really work.) https://chmelarbabu9.myportfolio.com/

My final major project is the Merthyr Synagogue. After looking at the main problems in Merthyr unemployment, drug /alcohol use and crime - the aim for this scheme is to create a place where people can have the oppurtunity to regain personal accomplishment. This building will accomodate these people by rehabilitating them and bringing people with the same issues together to develop and learn new skills. The heritage of the building will also be upheld throughout the design. This will be acheived by using original materials, keeping key features and taking inspiration from original patterns found throughout the building.

Whitney Harris I’m Whitney. During my placement and final year I have worked at Do Digital Agency specialising in 3D Visualisation. As a designer, I enjoy making moodboards and lookbooks, and keeping up with and ahead of trends. I love to see the initial sketches turn into the final product. https://hwhitney65.wixsite.com/mysite

My final Major Project is 3-4 Wharton Street which is a Grade II listed building. Most famously ‘The City Glassworks’ this construction is built from yellow brick with widespread bathstone.

A glass connective feature in the back of floor 1 will link the workshop space and the semi-private bar. Using glass will also allow more natural light into the building.

The new proposal for the building is an interlinked bar, workshop, and hotel. A collaboration with the GWower Gin Company creating a modern, comfortable setting that captures the structure’s heritage and considers the surroundings. The elements of the building work in combination to provide an interactive and entertaining experience along with a restful constituent. The quirky and bright interiors peak interest and stimulate involvement within the space.

Creating only two ground floor levels encourages a positive flow of people. The wall between the bar and the entrance way to the upstairs will also be knocked through providing a direct entrance to the rooms upstairs.

A lighting fixture will shine through the patterned glass creating a kaleidoscope style canopy on the corner of the building, and drawing in passers-by. Represent brand Values and offer a tasting event

Amelia Mansell I have a strong passion for design and for turning my client’s visions into a reality. My knowledge of design has been expanded on within my degree and my job at Do Digital Agency. Not only am I a design fanatic, but I have a passion for visualisation and creating photorealistic imagery of my designs through the use of programmes including Revit and 3Ds Max. When I’m not designing I enjoy playing and coaching netball. https://ameliamansell8.wixsite.com/ portfolio

My final major project is the St James Church building in Cardiff. The former Church of St James the Great was constructed in the 1890s, however, due to the decline in the regular congregation it was closed. The community feeling of a church congregation was my inspiration for an inclusive and multi-generational proposal. The St James’ apartment building offers a wheelchair friendly ground floor and inviting community areas. The aim is to create a microcosm of countryside living within the heart of the city.

Hanna Ober Hey, I’m Hanna As a designer I have found an interest in what I consider people-friendly design, to include young, elderly, disabled and able people to the same extent. h.o.interiors https://hannaober2.wixsite.com/ hannaoberinteriors

The eco art hostel (Earth hostel) is an ecofriendly, energetic and vibrant hostel set in an abandoned railway arch in Southwark. It is the perfect spot for those adventurous and creative travellers that seek comfort and style whilst having the unique opportunity to sleep in the coolest dorms, experience special moments, connect, and make art in the creative heart of London. The Earth Hostel symbolizes the several unique layers that form the earth. The expression of movement is used in the form of curves and waves. Designing a space that feels organic and pure.

Abigail Oyabambi My name is Abigail and I was born and raised in London. I decided to study interior design in Cardiff as I was eager for a fresh scene and a new atmosphere. Best decision I have ever made! Apart from my love of interior design, I do enjoy textiles and in many of my work, I tend to include fabric manipulations to create textures and patterns throughout the space. In my personal life I enjoy cooking, crocheting, gardening, and travelling. @Oyabambi_Design

My final major project is The Cardiff Brewery, formerly the home of the Brains Brewery. The entire site is being torn down and redeveloped save for the brewhouse building which is being restored as offices and retail units. My proposal for the building is to keep a brewery on site as there has been since 1889 and to use the building as a community hub with a garden and education space, bar, restaurant and function room.

Bethan Rees Hiya! I’m Beth, born and raised in Cardiff, a corduroy afficionado since 1983. Built in 1855, the Swindon Mechanic’s Institute is one of the most prominent buildings in the town’s history. The Grade II* listed building provided the blueprint for the NHS and housed a library, which pre-dates the first known, public-lending library by 9 years. My proposal is a Modern Member’s Club and Lifestyle Office, providing an engaging space that offers more than just a working environment. The Reinvented Mechanic’s Institute is intended to be a space to socialise, network, work and relax. The proposed uses maintain the rich heritage by emboding the original objective of sharing knowledge and encouraging entertainment. These uses include: a street food market & bar, restaurant, private dining, large atrium, coworking space, private offices and meeting suites.

Georgia Salter-Randall Hello! I’m Georgia. I am an interior design enthusiast and random fact finder from Wiltshire, known for having a curious nature and a constant smile. The 1940’s Grade II* listed former British Nylon Spinners Factory in Mamhilad was designed by the prominent architect Sir Percy Thomas. The Tower is the dominant feature of the extensive site and is the location I have chosen to house a technologically innovative mixed-use complex comprising of a cafÊ, auditorium and independent retail units with workshops, a restaurant, and bar, a co-working floor for creative start-ups and an interactive art and events space on the top floor. My proposal will reflect the buildings industrial history whilst breathing new life into the currently vacant factory tower. The development of a new arts and technology facility will inspire new ways of working, living and creating whilst boosting the local economy.

Corn Market is one of Bath’s many heritage sites. Located in central bath on one of the main routes into the city, the market is in a prime location for a multi-use development site. My final major project has allocations for accommodation, professional studios, retail and social space for the local community and visitors. The New Corn Market is intended to benefit local retailers and Bath’s tourism industry. The redevelopment of the market will bring a new life to what was one of Bath’s targest trading centres while also keeping subtle touches to the market’s building and heritage.

The wellness retreat will include educational spaces, as well as a spa, spaces to practice yoga and other wellness activities, and a hotel section. The experience and design will be luxurious and high end to attract city livers and high earning couples or friendship groups.

Natasha Thomas Hi, I’m Tasha, a Welshie from Swansea.
