Weinloft I - a Kellerstüberl with character

Page 1

Elegant and dreamy

How do translations, South Africa and renovating Kellerstรถckl fit together? Quite simply: Martina Fank is an interpreter and spends her holidays with her husband simply and elegantly in the vineyards of South Africa. Eventually, through the intermediary of an uncle, the two came upon an old, but still quite dilapidated Weinstรถckl in Southern Burgenland at Radlingberg in Edlitz. Thus the circle was closed.

As Martina's husband has a lot to do with architecture, there was no lack of power in modernizing the Weinstรถckl. So it was then gallantly called "Weinloft I". First, larger windows were installed at the front, through which the unobstructed view can now take in the valley below.

Inside, a compact bathroom was magically squeezed in. All of the interior elements were chosen by Martina Fank herself and some were also arranged by her: somehow bright coolness was combined with harmony and warmth. Especially the little stove just had to be in brilliant white and came all the way from Norway.

Thus, winters can be really cozy! In the other three seasons, you can enjoy 1,300 square meters of vines and 500 square meters of orchard. The idyllic Radlingberg wine country is not far from the spa and golfing region or from neighboring Hungary so that you are optimally provided with good gastronomic options. In spring you can discover the countryside on Weinloft’s own vintage motorcycle and you can rent e-bikes at any time in nearby Eberau.

Traditionally, Kellerstöckls (converted wine cellars) are rented without meals, but our neo-hoteliers offer a "refrigerator filling service". In addition, you can spoil yourself with a breakfast basket if needed. Of course, top local wines and other delicacies are also offered, as befits such a versatile gusto region.

As Martina Fank revealed to us, two more houses will be available in the near future. "Weinloft II" is ultra-modern with an almost continuous glass front and the Weinstöckl No. 3 is quite typical of Burgenland tranquility. Therefore, it’s mainly composed of wood, metal and blue prints.

Now the question is how often Martina can still visit South Africa. Text concept: Wolfgang G. Külper Photos: www.karbon-fotografie.at
