NEWS Like the vast majority of martial arts, the change of belt is an important ritual throughout which every student must experience in their career towards the black belt. It consists in learning, training, refinement and a demonstrative exercise at the end to prove that all the topics in the corresponding level are assimilated. Once these are recognized the student passes to a new state where they will learn more.
It is a great exercise of self-improvement. Congratulations to those who have run for examinations and have passed them successfully.

OUR HISTORY
POLYNESIAN MYTHOLOGY (PART 2) KANE GOD CREATIONS THE WORLD
In Hawaiian mythology, Kane was the creator deity and the Supreme God of procreation. In Polynesian mythology, the creation of the world is often attributed to TANGAROA, God of the sea. But the large distances between the Polynesian islands often lead to local variations in regional mythology. Thus, Kane is the Creator God in Hawaii. The direct Hawaiian equivalent of Tangaroa is God Kanaloa, which Kane is closely related. Later Christian missionaries identified Kanaloa with Satan.
8
The cult to kane was mild, while other deities often included human and animal sacrifices. According to the creation myth, Kane created three worlds, the upper heavens, the lower heavens and the Earth. In the beginning, Kane dwelt in darkness. Then the light was created and, God of the ancestors, helped Kane as well as Lono, God of heaven, to create the Earth and to occupy its surface with living beings. Subsequently, these gods created the first human couple, but Kane condemned it to death because showed great independence soon. Then, this God left the ground and withdrew to the upper heavens.
Hawaiians remember the original intent of Kane to live on Earth in the traditional name given to the world, Ka honuanuiaKane (the great land of Kane). However, they made few images of God, perhaps because of its remoteness. On the other hand, perhaps Hawaiians thought they should do anything more that could unleash the wrath of God, since the great power of Kane is reflected in their titles, Kanehekili (tonante) and Kauilanuimakakeha'ii kalani (lightning flash in heaven).

It is vital to exercise and gain strength on the upper and lower body limbs in order to absorb an aggression in an efficient way. Our defense is our arms and legs, so their complete conditioning will help us to solve a conflict easily. Regarding this, we will go a step further executing the blockings as if we were attacking, causing a spot of premature pain in our opponent and ruining their defense. When creating a spot of premature pain we get their mind to think about that spot and not in a counterÂattack, leaving them unarmed facing our technical consecution (it is of extreme importance to continue the action in a homogeneous manner and intensity to avoid the loss of control) One of the frequent activities we have in Limalama Natural System is the level upgrade or belt change. As in many other academies around the world, this process is done for the student’s promotion and recognition regarding the learned material and the training performed during the previous months.

Precious black It was the year 1980, when circumstances of fate, I had my first encounter with martial arts. I remember the first time I stepped on a training room. It was a spring afternoon, and the Sunbeams passed through timidly between the open blinds covering the large windows of the room, illuminating it fully. All children were formed in a single row, the master, perceiving my presence at the door, quickly invited me to come in, telling me to place in the row, with the rest of the partners. At that time I did something not conscious, not only by the importance and impact that would have on the future of my training and education within the framework of the martial arts, but by the depth of its meaning. Today I am proud to have learned something important, so full of meaning by the way of demonstrating respect for others. This beautiful Act was the "greeting". What happened then, all received sensations, the weakly assimilated information and perception of having internalized something new, discovering that really you like it, that it is yours, that has owned your being and will stay forever depth in your soul. At that moment, and only in that precious moment, you realize that it is something that is going to accompany the rest of your life. Time passed and with it, class by class, training after training. One day talking to my teacher, asked him: teacher! As I called him affectionately, what do I need to be black belt? He, with patience and kindness, replied:
14
It is very easy to answer what you raise. There are only three keys: perseverance, dedication and selfdiscipline, a set of difficulties and qualities necessary to achieve it. It is not easy to get the black belt and is very possible and probable that none of your colleagues succeed, for multiple reasons. After hearing those words, I felt like a light was lit inside me, taking a firm and unequivocal decision. It took a few years, and finally the long awaited and anticipated moment arrived, my black belt exam. It was then and only then that I discovered the start in the way of martial arts.

What is a sports injury? Sports injuries are injuries that often occur as an organized sport is practiced, in competition, in training sessions or any other physical activity organized. In youth these injuries occur for various reasons, including improper training, improper wear sports shoes, not wearing protective equipment and the rapid growth experienced during puberty.
There are two general categories of sports injuries. The first are the acute traumatic injuries. They usually occur as a result of a stroke or the application of an isolated force (as a bad entry in a football game). Acute traumatic injuries include: Fractures – total/partial cracks or broken bones. Bruises (contusions in medical terminology) caused by direct blows, which can cause swelling and bleeding into muscles and other body tissues. Strains muscle or tendon stretches or strains (the tough and narrow end of a muscle that connects it to the bone). Sprains stretched or torn ligaments (the tissue that strengthens and gives stability to the joints, connecting bones and cartilage). Abrasions scrapings. Lacerations cuts on the skin that tends to be deep enough to require stitches or staples.
16
The second category of sports injuries is due to overload or chronic injury. Lesions developed during a more or less extended period of time. Chronic lesions are usually caused by repetitive motions, such running, throwing things over the head or serve in tennis motion. They include the following:
- Fractures by overload -small cracks in the surface of the bone often caused by repetitive overload (for example, basketball player´s feet that constantly jumps on basketball court). - Tendonitis - tendon inflammation caused by repetitive use. - Epiphysitis or Apophysitis - growth injury due to overload on cartilage (i.e., the place from which the bone can grow in length during childhood and adolescence), also produced in the Osgood-Schlatter disease. We often give less importance to chronic than acute injuries. Perhaps you feel tempted to ignore that dull ache you have on the wrist or knee, but remember that just
magazinelimalamanaturalsystem.blogspot.com.es
because an injury is not spectacular, lacks importance or it would fix itself. If these injuries are not treated, most likely, are getting worse over time. Body Parts that can be affected by sports injuries. Perhaps you think that the only parts of the body that you can hurt doing sport, are back, arms and legs, but you can hurt any part of the body, including the face, neck, head, back, sexual organs, hands and feet.
Head and neck injuries Head injuries include concussions, as well as bruises, fractures and hematomas that affect this part of the body. A concussion is a violent head shock that makes the brain colliding with the walls of the cranium, which temporarily affects brain function. If it is severe or recurrent may damage brain, but, fortunately, this is uncommon in young people. A hematoma is bleeding that occurs between layers of tissue covering the brain or inside the same brain. All of these injuries may be caused by a strong impact in the head due to a fall, a strong shaking, and direct blows to the head or a "whiplash". A whiplash injury is a neck trauma which takes place when the head is strong and unexpected shaking (very typical in car accidents).
Neck injuries include strains, fractures, bruises and sprains. Another type of neck injuries very common sports足related is the brachial plexus injury, caused by distention of the nerves of the neck. The majority of neck injuries are caused by the impact suffered by the head or neck during a fall or blow. You can also injure you neck slowly. If you submit the neck too many tensions, you can experience a growing pain, perhaps only on one side of the neck. Or it is possible that you only feel a slight pain when you move the neck of certain form.
If a person suffers a major trauma whit the possibility that neck is affected, it is very important to keep it immobilized with head well aligned to the body while someone calls for emergency medical help. If the person is lying on the ground, do not try to change the site or position. Never attempt to move someone who may have a neck injury. A broken neck manipulated incorrectly could cause permanent paralysis or even death.
How do these injuries occur? Serious neck or head injuries occur more often in athletes who participate in contact sports (like football or rugby) or sports where heavy falls may occur, such as horseback riding.
Always wear helmet in contact sports and performing activities such as cycling or skating to avoid possible head injuries. Neck injuries are among the most dangerous. You can injure your neck suffering a sudden injury that affects that part of the body in sports such as mountain bike, skydiving, horse riding, gymnastics, diving, rugby, judo or boxing.
magazinelimalamanaturalsystem.blogspot.com.es
17
Back injuries Back injuries include strains, fractures, contusions and fractures and are caused by twisting or overexertion of back muscles during flexion or lifting weights. These injuries can occur in contact sports like football or hockey, weight lifting, figure skating, gymnastics, dance, baseball and basketball.
Foot injuries
Foot injuries include ligament strains, stress fractures, heel bruises and inflammation of the epiphyseal plate. Since the feet support the entire weight of the body and have to absorb repeated impacts are particularly susceptible to injury. Another reason for lesions in young people feet are because their feet have a slightly different morphology. For example, some people have flat feet or high instep. These differences do not mean that sports should be avoided, but it may need to take certain precautions, such as wearing special shoe inserts.
Hands or wrists Injuries Injuries in hands, fingers and wrists include fractures, dislocations and sprains often occur in contact sports like football and hockey. These injuries can be caused by abruptly falls that move abruptly the hand or fingers, a strong impact or a direct blow to this part of the body.
Practice moderate sport and healthy way to avoid health problems.

"Since I coach I have always tried to focus and transmit the method, pedagogy, values, feelings, etc...""
magazinelimalamanaturalsystem.blogspot.com.es
21
This morning I woke up with this word in my head,” transmit”. Since I coach I have always tried to focus and transmit the method, pedagogy, values, feelings, etc... That Limalama mean to me. I've always tried to make students see through my eyes as a technique evolves to achieve maximum efficiency, but do I get it? Anyone who begins his career in a martial art has its own approach:
There are people who begin martial arts because simply “get their attention”. They have no particular interest in any specific and often go testing from one to another, undefined. Others, however, see it as a sport, like doing athletics, football or basketball and only see the sporting side. Others, have heard of your discipline, but because of embarrassment or other reasons until now had not dared to go and train with you. Then, there are those that I affectionately call "Bruce lee", people with little experience in fighting arts, who believe are invincible and even dare to correct your workouts and movements. Others, have never had contact with martial arts but instead show a great aptitude and ability to assimilate the concepts and movements, kicks, etc.. And we could be while longer because the diversity of people who come to learn a martial art is great.
22
magazinelimalamanaturalsystem.blogspot.com.es
How do we, the coaches, get to transmit a philosophy, values, physical fitness and martial discipline? There is no “perfect student”, there will be, even, one in which we will put all our hopes and expectations who have innate ability but who decide to practice chess or swimming, for example. It is difficult to transmit what is for you a way of life, teaching that beyond every kick, every punch, and under every technique that you've been teaching and exercising for years there is a philosophy and even a study of the movement. It is difficult to transmit what is for you a way of life, teaching that beyond every kick, every punch, and under every technique that you've been teaching and exercising for years there is a philosophy and even a study of the movement. When we explain a technique, we try to show a variety of details for the student, but not only that, it has to learn, assimilate and make it part of himself. This is not easy as it requires a lot of training and still not everyone will see this technique as you like. When we show a set, we want to transmit his beauty, we set the details to the student who will learn to understand the meaning of the movement.
We explain values of companionship, affection, support, etc.., but not all students come to understand it, not all are "hooked", not all choose the path of the warrior. We will see people passing by our schools that have great potential but decided to practice another sport. Caution, this is also a doubleedged sword because the lack of values, lack of respect for others, the envy or pride showing by some coaches may traumatize the student and set him aside from martial arts definitely. We have a great responsibility. We build champions in competition and life, not murderers or disco pimps, not false teachers who only care about power and money. As coaches we must not frustrate ourselves, but I have to admit that sometimes you get upset when a student who you think will get to achieve your goal, for fate reasons twists in his way. We can only give the best of ourselves, we can only show what this sport has built in us and try this way of life "leave a trace" on each one, so who decides to go on the other hand always have a nice memory of the experience and who choose to accompany you on this path, has the best example. For all this, I understand that you cannot teach the same way to everyone, each one has a different peculiarity, to transmit? Yes, I think I transmit, but in many frequencies for which each student has his own and tunes his own way, but all together in one place, MY TATAMI.

Master Joshua ST. Ives Martial Examplel KUMUA 2.0: Were as its beginnings in the martial arts? Joshua St. Ives: I started Kenpo Karate in 1 961 with Mr. Parker and continued to train off and on for the next 25 years or so. KUMUA 2.0: that art was first made? Why? Joshua St. Ives: Being in Kenpo I of course knew who Tino Tuiolosega aka Papa was because of the hard training his students were put thru and the fighters that trained with him were outstanding. We all wanted to be not good but great fighters and if you could cross train with Papa you became an all around fighter usually. KUMUA 2.0: was ever used the martial art in real situation? Your. Joshua St. Ives: Yes I have used my Kenpo and what little Limalama skills I had gathered in real life situations. In the 70's it was a rough time, everyone was training is something or other and fighting was the normal thing that
happened when you went out clubbing. But unlike some I never went out looking for trouble, I didn't have to as trouble was always right around the corner and found you.

KUMUA 2.0: As You Knew Lima Lama and mr. Tino?
in my martial arts career, because Papa was such a dynamic Warrior.
Joshua St. Ives: My main combat sensi was and is Fred Brewster a man that is a legend in all of California and well known out of it. To this day I have never seen a better street fighter than Fred, with all the love and respect I have for Papa I include him in that list. I trained very little with Papa, but saw his art of Limalama all the time thru fighters like Greg Spence/Dave Brock etc., as our Arts (Kenpo/LImalama) made us cousins because of the very similar movements.
KUMUA 2.0: as was the practice limalama at that time? you think the difference with the training of the past and today?
I spent about three years with Papa after he had his stroke traveling with him, assisting him teaching in anyway I could, being his Uki allowed me to see and understand Limalama even though his mobility was limited. I was around people like Nibardo Sanchez who was promoted to 9th degree black belt with me standing on the promotion board who is an outstanding Limalama Sensi, as well as so many others in Mexico/Spain/El Salvador and the world in general. I traveled to Spain with Papa stopping off in England before I landed in Spain to consult some martial artist people on maybe opening a few dojos there with Nibardo Sanchez. I was as it was viewed one of his bodyguards when we traveled anywhere, not that he needed one but the many people who wanted to get close to him made it dangerous because there were so many and after his stroke his mobility was abit off. Being able to say that is a high point
26
Joshua St. Ives: As to the future of Limalama to me personally, I see it being in Mexico and Spain, & perhaps a few other countries in South America. There are a few dojos in America that teach different strains of Limalama, some taught via Grandmaster Richard Nunez and a few others but the big dojos are in my opinion in Mexico. Papa's son, Rudy is the heir to the throne, like him or not, he is the leader of Limalama dictated by Papa & as long as he deserves it he should be shown the respect that title has. It is up to him to make LImalama thrive and continue to be the dynamic Art that is once was and can still be. For personal reasons that I will keep to myself he and I don't talk or see each other but he was Papas choice to inherit Limalama and I agree with that decision, he is the blood son and that is how it should be. I wish him great fortune and hope before I die to see Limalama once again a thriving Art! KUMUA 2.0: some words for readers and advice for students? Joshua St. Ives: In closing I want to say how proud I am of you my Limalama brothers Alfredo and Alberto on the way you conduct yourself, the way you teach & the way you treat others, when Limalama is talked about in Spain your names are the only ones I think of or share with others, “Papa would be proud of you both I believe as well.

Postural balance Unbalance concept. We can define imbalance as the mismatch in certain parameters that maintain balance in a system.
The natural human tendency, like in animals, is to control your balance and find any obstacle or circumstance that causes the loss of this. His most primitive reflex is reacting instinctively to maintain stability. Postural training with a perfect balance, it is essential for the development, implementation and success of our attack, we must maintain always a proper posture without angular variation of the shaft headtrunklower at 90 ° with soil line, always keeping foot opening slightly wider than the upper shoulder line. The action of maintaining feet close together or far apart posture, in our attack, could cause our own imbalance, so our technique would lose strength and effectiveness. Whenever we want to execute a throw or sweep to our adversary is essential to make the imbalance of this, we should fall outside the action line of the center of gravity from its support base. If you do not run this previous imbalance
28
, our technique would never succeed.
There are eight imbalance postural directions, the action of
either facing our adversary, would cause loss of stability control, leading to uncontrolled situation posture. However, there are two basic ways to achieve this balance, either by brute force or using flexibility or anticipation. Applying flexibility we need to know what efficiency of movement is. To unbalance the opponent you do not have to move his body only, you need moving yours, creating voids, gaps, feinting, deceit, make him make missteps and obviously losing his balance. Whenever, without losing
magazinelimalamanaturalsystem.blogspot.com.es
control of the implementation of our technique. So the work we develop in Limalama, is essentially, trigger reactions that allow us to accentuate our adversary movement in the imbalance direction we want, in order to successfully apply the techniques that we are more skilled.

The wisdom of .... "1 arrow can break. 10 arrows together can’t." (Native american wisdom) When studying the arts of war, say: Ancient Fencing, Boxing, Muay Thai, GrecoRoman fighting... we can observe: tactics, technique, weaponry, training goals, persistence, courage, desire... All these values and many more can be compared to enterprises, organizations, associations, clubs and similar groups in the whole society. When slowly reviewing each and every one of these values we realize that inside our associations there is always someone who represents these values in the ruling position assigned to them: the president, secretary, treasurer, etc. and if someone fails, all the effort of the machine, of the organization falls down. Every single one of us has their duty and a specific goal inside each organization, and I repeat, if someone does not do their job or supports the group, well.. ADIOS, KAPPUT, TANTAN, CHURRIN CHIRRAN, GAME OVER... In order to grow, any enterprise needs everyone to do their job and do it like a team, and a team does not means that only the bosses work, but the whole team. Do you have an assignment? Achieve it! You don’t? Give support to the team, but REALLY do it! YOUR HELP IS NEEDED! DON’T STEP ASIDE, TEAMWORK HAS A LOT OF BENEFITS...

2.0 Kumua magazine launches new section and could not do better. This section is open to any marciel art you want to tell us a bit like your system is, how they work, ... This time we were released with fellow Kajekembo Villalbilla School (Madrid), which is conducted by Maestro Juan Carlos Alvarez (6th Dan Black Belt).
KUMUA 2.0: Let's talk about you. J.C.Á: I do not really like talking about myself, but I understand that I must follow the script of the interview. I am the youngest son of two, born in November 2, 1966 in Lion (France), where I lived until one year old, the date on which my parents, after spending seven years there, returned to Spain, specifically to Villalbilla (Madrid) Officially, I started training at age 12, back in 1979 in Alcalá de Henares Complutense Gym. In 1985 I passed Black Belt 1st Dan exam and I am dedicated to teaching as instructor in Kajukembo since that year. Currently I have schools in Alcalá (Madrid), Nuevo Baztan (Madrid) and Mondejar (Guadalajara). Since early age, I have competed in tournaments at national and international level, achieving many top positions. The last title I won, was the gold medal at the World Martial Arts Games in Germany in July 2007. Today I flaunt range “Sigung”, although its literal translation is “grandfather” in our slang means Master of Masters, Black Belt 6th Dan of Kajukembo, President of the Spanish Kajukembo Association and Martial Arts, and Director of Arbitration of the Professional League Martial Arts MASL. KUMUA 2.0: Tell us a bit about Kajukembo
34
J.C.Á: I'll try to be brief in my answers, so this interview is not too extensive. For me, Kajukembo is a tremendously effective and devastating self defense system. Using highly structured and fast techniques and overlooking the different distances, short, medium and long. It is a system of Hawaiian origin, its founder was Adriano D`Emperado, and its central pillar is Kenpo and influences of Kodokan Judo, Ju Jitsu Sekeino,

leaving the group of students at the hands of his student, Rene Rodriguez.
KUMUA 2.0: What factors are important in the Kajukembo?
Rene Rodriguez, shortly and for business issues also had to leave classes, staying in his place Angel Garcia Soldado, he at that time had brown belt, and his youth and inexperience had great difficulty to take the group forward, but Angel was able to overcome all obstacles and formed with high quality firsts Kajukembo instructors, which next to him, took care of spread this beautiful art throughout Spain.
J.C.Á: As in almost every sport, there are five basic concepts to maximize: speed, balance, accuracy, distance and strength.
KUMUA 2.0: What motive led you to practice martial arts?
KUMUA 2.0:How did Kajukembo come to Spain and who introduced it? J.C.Á: Kajukembo is introduced in Spain in 1973 to a small group of people by the hands of Edward C. Sheppard, American military and direct student of Richard Peralta. He was intended to Torrejón de Ardoz Air Force Base, and for nearly five years gave class in old barracks of the air base, until in 1978 when he was assigned to another air base,
J.C.Á:To answer your question I will begin telling you a little story; when I was a child, only 9 years old, I had to witness how five people gave a brutal beating to my brother in Alcala de Henares school Jorge Nebrija,. I was playing football and Jorge came to see me, when suddenly for a problem that he had with one of them, they began to beat him not only with hands and feet, but also with sticks (some were broken in his body). For this reason, my brother swear that they wouldn’t beat him that way never more, so he decided to learn martial arts. My brother was friend and classmate of Sigung "Paco Penalva" (which by then practiced Kajukembo), this made Jorge inclined to this selfdefense system. I saw him train every day at home, one day, I asked him to show me, so that was the beginning of my journey in the martial arts.
Thus I began to have contact with the martial arts and in particular with the Kajukembo back in 78, later in May 79 I decided to go where Jorge was training, in Complutense Gym, place where was teaching Ángel García Soldado. There I started Kajukembo practice officially.
magazinelimalamanaturalsystem.blogspot.com.es
35
J.C.Á: The workouts were very hard, were made under the old slogan "train hard to be tough," and of course, not everyone was willing to receive such teachings. It was full contact training and injuries were common, but there´s no doubt that kids who endured those workouts, are now the more experienced instructors and teachers on the national scene. KUMUA 2.0: What was the Kajukembo impact and acceptance in Spain at that time?
KUMUA 2.0: Why Kajukembo and not another martial art? J.C.Á: Throughout my martial life, I have practiced other martial arts such as Judo, JuJitsu, Karate, Kobudo, Taekwondo, Full Contact, etc; which helped me in my personal martial enrichment. After all my knowledge of what other martial arts are, ( not making less to the other arts I practiced, because each of them have enriched the Kajukembo I do today), I have concluded that Kajukembo is a tremendously effective and complete art,
36
influenced by “Tang Soo Do”, Korean Karate, that provides the speed and forcefulness in leg techniques, of Kodokan Judo and JuJitsu, which give Kajukembo the work melee, projecting, sweeping, dislocating, immobilizing, etc.., from Kempo that includes high speed and skill of the upper limbs. Also, English boxing brings to Kajukembo contact sparring work and Chinese Boxing or KungFu with its elegance, flexibility, agility, aesthetics, etc.., gives the Kajukembo beauty in their techniques.
How were trainings when you started? Kumua
2.0:
J.C.Á: At that time there were not many black kimono styles in our country and for our color “Karategi” we were disparagingly termed "cockroaches". Therefore, other martial arts that were already established in our country, mostly of Japanese descent, looked at us with suspicion, and it was not easy to find a place. First we had to earn respect, proving to everyone, and even to ourselves, that we could do martial arts in efficient way, different from others. From that moment, we began to awake interest in some organizations and those began to invite us to their events. We affiliated to the KungFu Department of Karate Royal Spanish Federation, later in Raul Gutierrez´s SUSKA. After living many experiences in different organizations, unfortunately we suffered an

internal rupture in Kajukembo discipline so this led our group to reorganize. In February 21, 1990, we created and checked what would be the first Kajukembo Sport Association in Madrid. From this moment Kajukembo grows faster, but unfortunately in different organizations.
KUMUA 2.0: How Kajukembo has evolved to the present day? J.C.Á: Really across the board in recent years Kajukembo in Spain has undergone a very bright and dramatic evolution, we can say that our art currently has high level, maybe we have learn to be self-critical and nonconformist and our training has evolve, partly by improving what we did, observing other styles, and of course, learning from our mistakes. Logically experience has made us much better, not only technically as art, but also in physical appearance. Now, we care much more of our body through workouts more controlled and studied, although it is true that unfortunately and as in any other art, not all schools in our country have evolved the same way. Currently in our country there are several Kajukembo schools in different organizations, although almost all, even if are not in the same organization, collaborate with the others. The most representative organizations inside and outside our country are KSDI (Kajukembo Self Defense Institute), which is represented in Europe and Latin America by Angel Garcia Soldado, 9th Dan Kajukembo and KSDS (Kajukembo Self Defense Systems), directed by my teacher Agustín López Campos, 8th Dan Kajukembo KSDS, leader worldwide, successor of Richard Peralta, President of the AEK (Spanish
Association Kajukembo). These two organizations occupy about 75% of almost throughout the country schools. KUMUA 2.0: Current Kajukembo Situation in Spain. J.C.Á: Now, we may say that Kajukembo it is at its best, we have very experienced teachers, some of them with over 30 years in this discipline, with a long career and consolidated schools in major provinces of our country. Logically this is the result of a long journey that has made us grow, improve and see things from a very different perspective. Kajukembo is in expansion period, and suitable to start changing internal policies. Honestly, I think it's the best time to sit and talk to the different schools and build a better future for our Art. KUMUA 2.0: What ideas do you have for Kajukembo in short, medium and long term? J.C.Á: In my opinion, perhaps, in shortterm we need to create a common project with consensus between the different schools, a project to show the steps in the future, speak of inner renewal, structuring, methodology and pedagogy, evolution, marketing… The distance learning programs must work less extensive and more direct, more effective and easy to reach to the students. In the medium term, make objectives according to above and create a team of people able to carry out those objectives. In the long term, we must make the appropriate monitoring of new policies to see the results, make the necessary corrections, if it is appropriate. And finally, I believe, we must reach

agreements between different organizations for creating our own Kajukembo Federation; something that would made us, certainly, much stronger. KUMUA 2.0: in order to be a successful competitor, what do you think it is necessary? J.C.Á:First of all, from my point of view it is essential to be delivered to the cause in body, mind and soul, secondly, to have a good strategist coach continuously updated, who makes you work very hard with the latest trends in combat, defense or kata, depending on the specialty you want to compete, and thirdly develop the most basic concepts commented previously, speed, balance, accuracy, distance and strength. All this, Condimented with a touch of experience, would be all the necessary ingredients to succeed in competition. KUMUA 2.0: what is for you the self defense? J.C.Á: First of all, understanding that under the framework of legality, defense has to be proportional to the attack, and also is true that it is not necessary to defend yourself with the same forcefulness in a situation in which we are attacked with empty hand than a situation in which someone attack us with a weapon, logically, in this last case, the strength must be absolute, because our life in danger. So, said this, for me, in few words, selfdefense is the learning and performance of various mechanical and automatic movements to stop an offensive action, so there is a golden rule, (Dodge, block and hitting).
objective, nobody is going to give anything, so the path to follow it is a lot of dedication, effort and sacrifice to get good results. M.. And don't forget: "Being persistent is getting a challenge".
KUMUA 2.0: A few words for the readers.
J.C.Á: Only tell you, if you want to be the best in a martial art, there are no secrets or magic wands, it is only find a good teacher and work very hard, because as any other
