’Digital Painting‘ is a body of work comprising 82 genuine digital files created on an iPad using a standard painting program. These files are then converted into weave-able files and fabricated on a computer controlled Jacquard loom.

The tapestries are the final result of this transformation process and show a very special and highly tactile surface quality and an unique ’interweaving’ of colors.

An edition of traditional manufactured tapestries from contemporary digital paintings.

It somehow closes the circle between iPad and the modern Jacquard loom, since Babbage got inspired to build his digital machine, an early computer, by the pinhole charts, which then controlled the first automized Jacquard looms.
