ENROLLMENT INSTRUCTIONS 8

1. Go to Enroll & Pay at sa.ku.edu 2. Log-in using your KU Online ID and password. 3. In Enroll & Pay, select the Manage Classes tile. 4. Select the term that you want to enroll in. 5. Click the green “Class Search and Enroll” tab in the menu on the left side of the screen. 6. If you know the 5 digit class number, enter it in the keyword search box and then press enter. a. Check the location (campus) via the room. Courses listed as RC (Regents Center) or REGN (Regnier) are located at the Edwards Campus; KULC FHSU, KULC GCCC, and KULC PSU for western Kansas and Pitt State. b. NOTE: You have been accepted to a particular campus, and it is expected that you enroll in courses at that campus every semester. If you are interested in a course at the other campus, contact Kristin Tredel at katrendel@ku.edu to make arrangements. Accommodations are made on a space availability basis. There are tuition differences between campuses. 7. Once you have chosen your class, select “Next” in the top right part of the screen. a. If you come across a page that asks if you want to be added to a waitlist or prompts you to add a permission code, please check to see that the course is “open”. If it is listed as open, you can bypass that request and proceed to the next step. 8. You will have the option to “Enroll” or “Add to Shopping Cart”. It is best practice to add all classes to your Shopping Cart first and then enroll from your Shopping Cart to avoid enrollment errors. a. Practicum courses (SW 701, SW 702, SW 801, SW 802, SW 804, and SW 805 have to be added to the shopping cart first and then enrolled in at the same time or you will get a “prerequisites not met” error. 9. After you have added your first class to your shopping cart, click “return to keyword search page” and follow steps 6-8 again until all classes have been added to your shopping cart. 10. When all classes have been placed in your Shopping Cart, choose the Shopping Cart tab toward the bottom of the menu on the left. 11. Once in the Shopping Cart, you will click the boxes to the left of each class and then click the blue enrollment button in the top right corner. 12. When enrollment is complete, you can select the View My Classes tab in the menu. a. You can visit this section when you are ready to purchase books. There is a blue box that says “Course Materials List” towards the top. 13. If you would like to print your schedule, select the My Weekly Schedule tab from the menu and make sure that the time frame is 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. so that you can see all courses. Once the time frame is updated, you can click “refresh.” There is not an option to print the page, so you can make a copy and email it to yourself or use the “Print Screen” function on the keyboard. 14. For more detailed tutorials on enrollment and making updates to your schedule, please see all of the how-to guides on this website: https://sis.ku.edu/enrollpay-student

FIELD EDUCATION socwel.ku.edu/studentfield 10

RESPONSIBILITIES

Each student’s growth and development as a professional social worker is at the heart of field education. Your responsibilities include:: • Complete your practicum Confirmation Form in Sonia. • Work with the practicum agency to identify any agency requirements to begin practicum and completion of those requirements (i.e. TB testing, etc). • Complete criminal background check as instructed by your practicum agency &/or via a Field Education email. • Complete 24 hours a week in the practicum agency, 15 weeks each semester; or 16 hours a week for three semesters- spring, fall and summer. • Be professional in your interactions with agency staff, clients, field liaisons, faculty, and student colleagues, consistent with guidelines provided by the agency and the NASW Code of Ethics. • Develop a written learning contract. • Complete written work on time as required by the agency and the School. • Take active responsibility for your own learning throughout the field practicum experience.

ROLES

During the field education process, you will work with the following people: Field Instructor The field instructor is an agency social worker, who mentors and instructs you in areas of practice and professional development. They collaborate with you to identify activities for your learning contract, schedule weekly social work instruction meetings with you; and provide on-going feedback and an end of semester grade recommendation to the liaison. Field Liaison The field liaison is the School’s representative to you and the practicum agency. The liaison is expected to initiate and maintain ongoing contact with you and the agency, conduct at least two site visits per year, consult with you on your learning contract and overall experience, provide feedback on assignments, and assign end of the semester grades in collaboration with the field instructor. Preceptor/ Task Supervisor Some students will work with a preceptor/task supervisor, who supervises a student’s day-to-day experience. Preceptors have expertise related to the agency and the people they serve; they may not be a social worker. Field Education Office Staff The Field Education Office staff have the basic responsibility for the organization, implementation and evaluation of the field education program. They strive to be supportive and available to students and welcome you to contact them by phone, email, or in person.
