Morals in the Life and Da’wah of the Prophets (I)
T
he Prophet (PBUH) was commanded to maintain the same methodology that had been adopted by all the previous prophets and messengers, may Allah exalt their mention, as Allah The Almighty says (what means): {Those are the ones whom Allah has guided, so from their guidance take an example.} [Quran 6:90] Allah the Almighty granted the prophets perfection of morals and character so that people would not turn away from them with the excuse that they were repulsive or ill-natured. All prophets, may Allah exalt their mention, only spoke what was revealed to them by Allah the Almighty. Their message was not something that they fabricated or that was due to the surrounding social conditions of their age. Their message was a revelation from Allah the Almighty, as each and every prophet testified: {I only follow what is revealed to me.}[Quran 6:50] The prophets, may Allah exalt their mention, did not have Continued on Page 13

Kuwait recognizes Libya rebels council expats burn Gaddafi flag, envoy backs NTC KUWAIT: Kuwait yesterday recognized the Libyan rebel National Transitional Council (NTC) as the “legitimate” representative of the Libyan people. An official source at the foreign ministry “renewed the support of the state of Kuwait to the NTC as the sole and legitimate representative of the Libyan people,” a statement cited by the official KUNA news agency said. Kuwait has maintained good relations with the Libyan rebels and granted NTC $180 million in urgent aid during a visit by NTC chief Mustafa Abdel
Jalil in April but stopped short of fully recognizing them. The foreign ministry official expressed hope that Libya will enjoy peace and security. The move came as Libyan rebels seized control of most of Tripoli. A group of Libyans in Kuwait yesterday removed and burned the flag of Muammar Gaddafi regime at the embassy and then raised the rebels flag, as ambassador Mohammad AlMubarak said he was operating under the NTC. A group of about 30 people
came to the embassy in Dueya on the outskirts of Kuwait City where they also tore down pictures of the Libyan leader that were inside the embassy. Ambassador Mohammad AlMubarak said he has joined the National Transitional Council (NTC), and recognized it as the sole and legitimate representative of the Libyan people. Mubarak told KUNA news agency that as of Monday “the embassy will operate as a representative of the Libyan people under the NTC.” — AFP
Online identity theft rising in Kuwait 4 residents fall prey to internet scammers By Velina Nacheva KUWAIT: Dr A.S., an official from Kuwait’s Ministry of Health is the latest victim of a vicious cyber crime phenomenon that led to the complete loss of his address book and compromised his personal information. Identity theft scammers hacked his personal email last week and impersonated him to email everyone on his contact list soliciting financial help.
The call for help arrived in an email correspondence headed ‘Emergency’ that originated from A.S’ actual email account. The fraudulent email described a fictitious ordeal supposedly suffered by the doctor whilst overseas, making an urgent request for money after, it said, the doctor was robbed in Spain with his embassy failing to assist him. Promising reimbursement, the fraudulent email added that A.S. could not be
reached by phone. Thankfully, over 40 friends from his address book and from around the globe called A.S. upon receiving the email and before taking steps to wire the money. “This is how I found out that my email was hacked,” he told the Kuwait Times. Even more disturbing, he says, is that in a follow-up email, the online scammers sent a copy of A.S.’s passport which they had Continued on Page 13
TRIPOLI: Libyan rebels yesterday declared the “Gaddafi era” over after taking control of most of Tripoli, as jubilant fighters streamed into the capital to join battles near the strongman’s compound. World leaders hailed the rebels’ dramatic rout on Sunday of loyalist forces in Tripoli, urging Muammar Gaddafi to admit defeat, as Libyans around the world celebrated the veteran leader’s imminent downfall. “The Gaddafi era is over,” rebel chief Mustafa Abdel Jalil told a news conference in Benghazi, eastern Libya. But Abdel Jalil also warned that he could quit as head of the rebel National Transitional Council (NTC) if he loses control of the revolution, amid possible revenge acts by insurgents. Abdel Jalil said he hoped Gaddafi, who faces an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court for alleged crimes against humanity, would be “captured alive so that he will be given a fair trial.” He congratulated the Libyan people “for this historic victory” and thanked NATO for its military support, while cautioning that “the real moment of victory is when Gaddafi is captured.” He acknowledged the whole of Tripoli was not under rebel control and that Gaddafi’s whereabouts remained a mystery. But White House and the Pentagon officials said they believe he is still in the country. It said NATO was working with the rebels to mount coordinated air strikes on Muammar Gaddafi’s heavily fortified Bab alAziziya compound in the capital. Continued on Page 13

Pressure mounts for emergency NA session MPs’ bribes issue rages By B Izzak KUWAIT: Strong reactions continued yesterday over the allegations that two MPs have received millions of dinars of bribes to buy their votes as more MPs called for an emergency parliamentary session to discuss the issue and pass a number of anti-corruption legislation. Governor of the Central Bank Sheikh Salem Abdulaziz Al-Sabah yesterday reiterated the government’s position a day earlier that he has no information about the allegations, adding that no local bank has reported the cases. Al-Qabas newspaper reported on Saturday that the accounts of two MPs have recently seen major
deposits in cash and transfers. One account received KD 17 million while the other got KD 8 million, the report said without exposing the names of the two lawmakers. Sheikh Salem said that like any central bank in the world, the Kuwaiti Central Bank does not control the movements of accounts at local banks but stressed that it has been strictly imposing anti-money laundering laws for more than a decade. The governor was echoing the cabinet’s decision a day earlier when it said that the public prosecution has not informed the central bank of any illegal movement at any bank account. But several MPs yesterday insisted the report must be thoroughly
investigated because the report places all the 50 members of parliament under suspicion. MP Hassan Jowhar supported calls for an emergency session of the National Assembly to discuss the issue and to debate approving a number of anti-corruption laws that have been stalled for a long time. Jowhar said that the session must work towards passing the wealth disclosure draft law which requires ministers, MPs and leading bureaucrats to disclose their wealth before assuming their posts and after leaving them in a bid to fight against corruption. He said the bribe report must be firmly handled in order to Continued on Page 13
