South Africa is the most unsafe country in the world for women and COVID-19 is making this worse

3 In December of 2020, Siya, aged 19 and 9 months pregnant, was raped, brutally murdered, and dumped on the side of a major highway outside Cape Town. She never had a chance. Her story is so typical that it has never been reported on in the press and her killer has never been found. Kwanele is a non profit organization founded to amplify Siya’s voice and the thousands of women like her, and create a platform to assist in obtaining justice.
