CARA FOR CARRIERS’ COLLABORATION The race to build larger ships at lower costs, and the need to quickly respond to the changing environment makes competition more intense for shipping companies in the maritime industry. To live up to increasing customer needs and demand for diversified services, container shipping companies try to collaborate through strategic partnerships, joint operations, and space sales & purchases. CARA supports effective data exchange between shipping companies, and lets partners collaborate closely. By providing effective processing methods depending on different kinds of information, CARA allows shipping companies to respond to the changing maritime industry. CARA can not only reduce time but also improve preparation/execution process for collaboration by supporting data sharing of Schedule, Special Cargo Application, Vessel operation, Slot Allocation, and Settlement result.
Platform Service for Carriers’ Collaboration
MULTI CARRIERS ONE COMMUNICATION
Every decision made in CARA is directly interfaced to each shipping company’s legacy system so that time and effort for joint operation can be saved. A person in charge can make important decisions for joint operation more quickly and accurately. Even if each shipping company has different business process and system from their partners’, they can collaborate with each other without any restrictions. No outstanding Same understanding through objective information
DG APPLICATION : IMDG(DANGEROUS CARGO) CHECK CARA validates IMDG information extracted from inbound e-mail and check segregation/packing instruction before approval. Approval results are given to Booking Line to interface dangerous cargo information with customer’s legacy system. CARA reduces human errors and saves time to check IMDG rule.

SCHEDULE SIMULATION AND SHARING
SERVICE FOR COLLABORATION
CARA provides Proforma Schedule simulation functionality for recognizing cost and service through calculation logic through normalized, equalized and actualized proforma schedule. Furthermore, CARA recognizes schedule information extracted from e-mail and interfacing it to the user’s legacy system through EDI interface.
Normalized Proforma Port Call, Port Rotation, Duration Handling Volume
Equalized Proforma
Required transit time between main ports
Actualized Proforma
Available berth window, gang structure
AWK APPLICATION : OOG(OUT OF GAGE) Through OOG information extracted from e-mail, CARA automatically recognizes detailed size/over dimensions and validates weight, size as well as void slot information. While inbound application is running, what is approved will be interfaced to the user’s legacy. CARA’s intuitive validation not only reduces the application handling process but also enables safe OOG cargo handling.
OPERATION AND PERFORMANCE Various reports are generated for cargo operation results including the terminal departure report, regional departure report and terminal productivity report based on the Baplie file. The Baplie attached to the e-mail is parsed through predefined mapping logic as well as validations for carrier code, container type/size code, port code and container number. Once the bay plan data is extracted properly, CARA generates the terminal departure report and regional departure report which are important as backup in various performance indexes and settlements.
ALLOCATION CARA supports the setup of agreed allocation information including the details of basic/sub allocation and relevant prices between partner lines. Based on the conditions in the basic agreement, detailed information for basic allocation of ocean/ inter-port, sub allocations for reefer container, high cube container, and relevant price related information to be generated for each voyage to be used for precise settlement calculation.
SETTLEMENT CARA supports accurate and easy settlement through various configuration options. We understand that each partner line maintains a different settlement process. So CARA provides the setup capability to configure in multiple combinations for the calculation of slot cost and surcharges. Through this global or local settlement setup, detailed settlement can be calculated which enable more efficient communication and decision making among partner lines. In order to further collaborate amongst partner lines, accurate data sharing and value exchanges in simple method are vital without IT investment. CARA enables cooperation between partner lines to collaboration to maximize synergy.
