INTRODUCTION
ASSEMBLY : PERMANENT IMPERMANENCE
The project started with an ambition of giving an ephemeral event a permanent impact. It explores the constructive capacity of an event that endures a certain quality and nature in it. The Aboriginal Tent Embassy that started in Canberra in 1972 is a prime example that reflects the power of an ephemeral event. Its location, structure nature, and intention juxtapose with every form of its context, yet with the strong belief that embeds within the event, it eventually transforms into a permanent structure that represents their power and status. A protest, is often entangled with a negative connotation of it being a disrupter, bringing chaos to the city. Back in the 1850s, the Melbourne Hoddle Grid was criticised for the lack of a public square or formal open space, and it has been claimed that Governor Bourke specifically discouraged the inclusion of such spaces “to deter a ‘spirit of democracy’ from breaking out.[1]. In exploring the positive capacity of the protest, the project records and capture the event in different medium of drawings. It aims to amplify the protest and by recontextualising objects, to nullify the damages done by both parties. The restoration of the aftermath of destruction is the final outcome that proposes a reality that arrived at a state of peaceful celebration in the indifferences. It operates as an architecture for the activists to carry out operations internationally that failed by their authority. This booklet shall be a collective of the different medium of drawings that explores the idea of the permanent impermanence and the fulfillment of the final outcome.
