Medicus Mundi Italia (MMI) is a non-governmental organization specialized in international health cooperation. It was founded in 1968 in Brescia (Italy) and it officially became an association in 1980. The purpose of MMI is to contribute to the integral promotion of the human being through the implementation of structural development social and health programs considering the access to care rights in favor of economically disadvantaged populations and/or conditions of non -integration and high vulnerability. It has been more than 50 years that MMI has been working to improve the quality and the efficiency of the social-health services in those Countries with limited resources. In these last years MMI has focused on Sub Saharan Africa implementing projects focusing on community basic health, prevention and health education, mother to child health, fight against malnutrition and on the main infectious diseases (HIV, tuberculosis and malaria). Training for community health volunteers is priority given to all MMI’s interventions. From 2017 in Kenya MMI takes active part in different social-health initiatives shared with other Italian NGOs, local CBOs (Community Based Organizations) and stakeholders such as MoH Counties and Sub Counties to guarantee sustainable interventions with repercussions both immediate and medium - long term.
