HEAD HEAD-TURNERS
Every day, top-producing agents are turning heads as they make the move to Keller Williams. Here’s a look at a few who are now proud to call KW home.

TREVOR WESTON GREEN LINDSAY DWYER CAPE TOWN, WESTERN CAPE
Lindsay and Trevor realised that the real estate market is changing fast and that they couldn’t afford to be restricted to one suburb anymore as it would limit their earning potential. After doing their research, they realized that Keller Williams was not only a real estate business, but also a platform to build out wealth while selling property. The open areas, ability to passively earn money, building their company within a company and not having to give away 50% of their commission, were all contributing factors to their decision to 22

join Keller Williams. When most estate agents are complaining about the ‘ever-changing markets’, this excites this team from the Western Cape, as they know that they determine what they earn. They love the independence they are given whereby they are ‘not told how to run their business’, but instead they are supported in the identification and implementation of their growth opportunities. The duo is in the running for the Top 10 Agents of 2019 and is incredibly busy. They appreciate the 'no internal politics' in their Market Centre, as it means that they have more time to focus on their clients and their business, which in turn results in higher revenue.. “Just a note to agents in other traditional agencies – don’t complain about the commission you earn (or lack thereof) and being limited to only one suburb, when this Keller Williams opportunity is within your reach. You are limiting your future earnings. Stop being scared of change and make the move. We did and are 150% satisfied!” says Lindsay.
KARIEN JORDAAN TZANEEN, LIMPOPO
From selling river pebbles from their farm in Badplaas as a child to becoming the youngest estate agent in Port Elizabeth and selling her first house in her first month – Karien Jordaan was destined to become a Mega Agent. With her ambition and passion for people, she was also destined to cross paths with Niel Cronje, CEO of KWSA, at a Mighty Men Conference 4 years ago. Niel prophetically told her that they would work together one day, and she thought that ‘he was nuts’! WHY would she, coowner of Seeff Polokwane, Top 5 Agent for Seeff South Africa want to jump ship to some “Keller Who” company? “I was in Seeff for life. My blood was blue and I was soaring the market as number 1 in Polokwane,” she remembers thinking. Then the “RED BOOK” happened to her. She found it on her son’s shelve in December 2017 and thought that the “Millionaire Real Estate Agent” would be a good read for the holidays. She would never have guessed that this ‘Gary Keller’ was the same one as the “Keller Who” company, but Gary’s model and way of thinking immediately resonated with her and she fell in love with the concept and felt frustrated that ‘no one wanted to listen’. She sold her shares in Seeff and decided to move on, not knowing what
she would do, as she had a Trade Restriction as owner/manager. She phoned Niel and attended Family Reunion 3 days later, which changed her life forever. She realized that the RED BOOK was not only in Gary Keller’s arsenal of business books; but it was also the Keller Williams training manual. She cried for 4 days about all that she’s missed out on – “Culture, modules, systems, systems and systems!!” Well, Karien is certainly turning heads in the “Keller Who” company and already among the Top 20 Agents for 2019. She loves the cultural mindset change where "sharing is caring, and everyone gets more. Buyer, seller, agent, everybody is better off! Culture is the key to your business, it’s about people, not money". 3

Are you a tech-enabled agent? By Deon Terblanche
The best, modern estate agents are techenabled agents. Property professionals have tools like smart phones, apps, email, social media, instant messaging tools and client relationship managers, to name but a few tech tools. Dabbling with these tools does not mean, however, that you are a tech-enabled agent.
Josh Team, previously KW's chief innovation officer, was promoted to company president. This further cements KW’s status as a tech company – not a real estate company with a tech department. Their combined leadership creates a tech powerhouse that will forge new paths for Keller Williams and redefine the property industry.
What is a tech-enabled agent, you ask? Gary Keller, co-founder and Chairman of Keller Williams Realty, distinguishes between the technology-enabled agent and the agent who (unknowingly) enables the technology that aims to eventually replace him.
To make the most of what KW has developed so far, agents should embrace the change that’s coming so that they can continue to be the experts in their field, and not be left behind.
We have written about this before. It's clear that the battles lines have been drawn between estate agents and the technology companies that seek to disrupt the property industry. We've also written about the need for property professionals to own their own business data. There is no neutral side to this. You're either an agent enabling the technology companies to eventually replace you with your business data, or you're an agent using the available technology on your terms.
sellers prefer. Co-CEO of KW at the time, Chris Heller, said, “Real estate is a relationship business and it always will be, but it is absolutely necessary that we create more meaningful experiences for your clients. And that’s where technology comes into play. Keller Williams envisions a world where every one of our agents has all the data about their customers, their prospects, and their business in one place.” Pivoting to a leading real estate technology

With this in mind, Keller Williams has embarked in 2017 on its next evolution – to become a technology company that provides the real estate platform that our agents’ buyers and 6

Technology will not stand alone in real estate

is especially true. South African agents have access to the same general tools that our international counterparts have and software found in places like the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Unfortunately there are also many advanced, custom or bespoke apps and tools that we never get in South Africa. To see an amazing time-saving business tool in the USA, UK or Europe and not being able to access it locally is quite frustrating, to say the least. Well, if you're a Keller Williams associate, this is no longer the case. Keller Williams Southern Africa is invested in closing this gap to give our agents the best technology solutions that will provide the best consumer experiences. To keep our agents ahead of the competition, we are focusing our attention on the future of the industry and where is headed. By creating locally-developed mobile apps, custom lead generation software and business simplification tools, we help KW agents to do what they do best. Selling real estate!
Is this the case in South Africa as well?
Keller Williams is leading the way
There is an undeniable technology gap between consumer wants and what the property industry currently provides to agents. In South Africa this
Last week, a seismic shift occurred in the property world. It was announced that Gary Keller would return as our company's CEO.
Did you know that Amazon recently opened its first brick-and-mortar store? If this online giant adds physical stores to its business plans, and there are many others doing the same, it’s clear that consumers want an in-store or in-person experience as much as an online one. After all, trust is built and maintained by looking someone in the face, with interpersonal communication, and by knowing what you’re getting when you’ve closed the transaction. products in the pipeline. Although technology is important, as property professionals we need to help our clients make smart decisions. Nothing can completely replace the human connection and how it feels to relate to someone in the moment. By developing smart technology platforms, we’re empowering our tech-enabled agents to provide enhanced customer experiences. We are devoloping the technology with our agents As a technology leader, KW is building tech tools and developing strategies for the future. We anticipate the needs of consumers and the needs of our agents to be relevant in
Josh Team explains, “Labs is a program where we invite our associates to come build software with us. “We ask them fundamental questions like, ‘What do you need to be successful?’ or ‘How can we double your revenue?’ Their answers go into Labs, where agents build products, they play with them, and then they tell our team how to improve.” So, are you enabling tech or are you techenabled? With more than 190,000 agents worldwide, Keller Williams have the unique ability to drive this tech revolution. Proudly agent-
