Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Organizational Development

Who is this session for? Everyone who leads people or participates in a work team, including: • Managers • CEOs • Team Leaders • Executives • Human Resources practitioners • Directors • Team members • Senior Managers What are the deliverables? An unforgettable and highly unusual catalyst which provides participants with an opportunity to observe and discuss the importance of alignment, engagement, maximizing strengths, communication, and the power of knowing the score.

What does it comprise? A facilitated half-day session raising important questions about the way people align and engage with an organization, sharing their unique skills and experience. Featuring a 90-minute up-close-and-personal encounter with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony and its conductor, participants will be stimulated to take a sideways look at the orchestra’s working methods and thus their own experience in the workplace. Elements of the session will include watching the orchestra work on a piece of music that is completely new to them, dealing with challenges to their work in space and time, the arrival of new individuals in a leadership capacity, and of completing work to a deadline. By varying the musical repertoire on every occasion, no session will duplicate any other.

Each encounter will be tailored to take into account issues that the client would like to explore. The session will be preceded by a consultation between the facilitator and a representative of the client, allowing any such issues to be flagged. Each session will include a short feedback element, and then an assessment of its value approximately three months later. How many people can be in the client group? The session will be most effective if numbers are in the region of 30-50 participants. What is the fee? The fee per session will be $10,000 plus tax as applicable. Additional costs will accrue for sessions undertaken outside Waterloo Region. The fee assumes either use of the orchestra’s home base (Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts in downtown Kitchener) or of transporting the orchestra to another venue. The fee does not cover presenting the session to a wider audience, i.e. for any session in which the orchestra’s interactions with the client group are to be watched by a larger group.
