ENTERPRISING EDUCATION

As part of the Fleming County High School’s “Enterprising Education” program, students manage eight businesses, preparing and inspiring the next generation of business owners and leaders. Students pursue work-based learning to fulfill their Portrait of a Learner graduate profile, which allows them to demonstrate their passions and interests alongside their core curriculum.

PANTHER BISTRO

Fleming County High School students learn about every aspect of running a restaurant, from meal prepping to serving customers every Thursday at the Panther Bistro, a fully staffed restaurant on campus.

PAW-MART

Fleming County High School students procure and sell spirit wear and merchandise created by student entrepreneurs at PawMart, the campus spirit store. Students design t-shirts, coffee cups, and more to sell to students and visitors at school and during events from their mobile shop.

PANTHER BANK

Students learn from People’s Bank employees how to manage their own student-run bank inside

Fleming County High School. People’s Bank donated all of the equipment so students would be familiar with the equipment if they pursue a job banking.

PANTHER CUSTOM DESIGNS & SIGNS

Students learning about welding and powder coating at Fleming County High School use skills they learn in the classroom to design and sell custom items for local businesses including metal planters, gates, and more. Students who graduate receive OSHA 30-Hour certification and are ready to work on any job site.

PANTHER PLANTS & PETALS

The annual fern sale is one of Fleming County High School’s largest fundraisers. Students learn how to manage a greenhouse and regularly sell products to the public.

RUFF CUTS

Ruff Cuts dog grooming provides Fleming County High School students valuable skills and creates opportunities for students to earn additional income outside of school. Ruff Cuts serves several customers from the community each day.

AUTO REPAIR

Fleming County High School students learn everything about repairing a vehicle, from basic oil changes to engine rebuilding.

Thanks to a partnership with NAPA Auto Parts in Flemingsburg, students can order parts and repair cars brought in by teachers, classmates, and community members.

NURSING

Fleming County High School students interested in health care can graduate with their State Registered Nurse Aides certification before attending nursing school. Students apply their skills on manikins in a replica of a hospital room with guidance from nurse instructors.
