As a designer, it’s fundamental to know that designs for clients should always be intended with the users in mind. Each project should be noticed as unique and addressed in that way. Every cleint, space, and usage is different and therefore, keen research should place to capture the vision the client has in mind. While designing, it is also important to be aware of the projected budget and find ways to help clients save on materials and labor when possible. Lastly, every designer should be mindful of the materials choosen for the project. Whenever possible, it is beneficial to use sustainable materials and alternative lighting methods to help the environment and to cut down costs for the client. ”Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare.” - Japanese Proverb

indonesian business traveler hotel

minato

The Site was chosen based on data of trade and business conducted with the country. In addition, location was the number one priority for choosing a hotel. Minato city is located in the southeastern part of Tokyo and east of Tokyo Bay. The city is also Tokyo’s main business hub where numerous international businesses and 49 embassies are located. The total area is 20.34 kilometers. Transportation in the area is by rail, metro, ferry, and buses.

BACKGROUND This project is based on the current circumstances of the hospitality industry in the global economy and the patterns and changes that hotel chains are making generated by “Growth Markets.” However, there are new global trends and new global powers that are emerging. Most hotels are already customizing for China and India, but will there be other countries emerging in the future? And, will those countries have individual patterns and require specific travel accommodations for business and leisure travelers? Based on the current future forecasts, Indonesia is predicted to be one of the next growth countries. PROJECT SCOPE The project poses a prototypical design and steps determined illustrate how to effectively assimilate (Indonesian) cultural aspects into a hotel environment by identifying the needs of this cultural group to create applicable spaces that will resonate emotionally with the guests and hence gain brand loyalty. The specific cultural needs will be incorporated through the design of the hotel spaces and contribute to successfully integrating elements of the culture of the host country as well.

Emotional Design Theory suggests that in order to gain loyalty from the target market, it is necessary to touch them on an emotional level. Incorporation of the five senses (touch, smell, taste, sound, and sight) inspired a design concept which will allow Indonesian guests to feel at home at Indus hotel. The incorporation of the five senses will touch upon the comfort needs of hotel guests; serenity, security, familiarity, and privacy. These four elements with the five senses will provide the essence of a “home” environment which will touch the guests on an emotional level, hence gaining brand loyalty.

Jeffrey Weiss a graduate from the Cornell Hotel School participated in the coveted ICEX culinary scholarship, where he was one of twelve cooks in the world selected to live in Spain and learn the regional cuisines, In rural Extremadural he learned the humble arts of charcuteria and the matanza alongside master butchers and the mothers and grandmothers of the countryside. Jeffrey is currently in development of his first restaurant concept a charcuteria-based restaurant in the San Francisco Bay Area in conjunction with his first book, “Charcuteria: The Soul of Spain.

The concept of the restaurant was inspired by the most traditional art form of the Spanish meat curing process. Curing Spanish style charcuteria is an art form that is rarely seen these days. Therefore, the process is reminiscence of a beautiful craft that needs to be appreciated in this modern day. The atmosphere of the space encompasses features that are industrial, warm, aged, and rustic with a modern twist. Guests dining at the restaurant will feel as though they are in an inviting and friendly tavern that welcomes locals, tourists, families, and singles. The restaurant has many different seating options and offerings which caters to everyone.

“We cannot know the consequences of suppressing a child’s spontaneity when he is just beginning to be active. We may even suffocate life itself. That humanity which is revealed in all its intellectual splendor during the sweet and tender age of childhood should be respected with a kidn of reglious veneration. It is like the sun which appears at dawn or a flower beginning to bloom. Education cannot be effective unless it helps a child to open up himself to life.”

The Montessori Method encourages individual growth and learning for students. Every child is born with a special talent with the ability to contribute their talent to others. The radial form of a notched gear represents a talent that when combined with others, creates a mechanized working whole. The Montessori Method is representative of working gears. Each gear is created and machined to work for a specific purpose, with its individualized size. No matter how small or big the gear is, they work together as a whole to achieve a bigger function. Montessori children are given the opportunity to learn adn work at their own pace and teach each other so that every child gains the most knowledge possible.

The Montessori education system encourages teaching students in natural daylight, and views. It’s also important to know how parents and students will get access to the school.
