Here’s a couple of pointers to help you make the correct choice.

Understanding the EU “Type” Classifications

The European Union has developed six categories for “types” of chemical protective clothing.

What type of hazard are you seeking protection from (Solid, Liquid, Gas/ Vapour)?

• If solid, what is the average particle size and what concentration is it in the atmosphere?

• If liquid, what chemicals are you exposed to, what pressure are they likely to be under and in what direction is exposure likely to be?

• If gas/vapour, what is the expected exposure

2. How will the wearer be operating, standing, sitting, crawling?

3. What is the expected temperature and humidity of the working environment?

4. Is the working environment considered flammable or explosive?

5. Is there a risk of contamination by infective agents?

Below is a brief definition of the current European “Types” which can help you identify whether the chemical protective coverall you select is suitable for the job.
