MAKING MELBOURNE HOME The morphology of cities are often associated with words like “cold” or “unwelcoming”, which works against making the CBD a desirable place to live. For this collage, I have taken the morphology of every place I have called home in the past year and transplanted them as seamlessly as possible. The idea behind this is to provide Melbourne with the human touch that it takes to make a desirable home. Principles missing from the city that I have added include space between buildings, open courtyards, winding roads, etc. By taking pieces of all of these locations familiar to me, I imagine walking through this reconstructed city as a blissful experience. The personal memories embedded within the buildings, streets, and spaces in which I have lived and spent time in offer so much to the overall experience. What makes a place feel like home is to recognize its structure and to know what exists beyond what the map displays. I am certain that in this city I would feel home, and that the morphology would be more inviting to anyone else.
