Formation and Transformation: Final Model
Womens Mental Health Retreat Center During the third and final project of the semester we were asked to create a monaestery or something similar to it. I asked myself why couldn't a retreat center be placed in a city and designed in a way where it felt like they were away? So, I decided to create a design placed in a city, because many retreat centers are placed in a rural area. The women in this building shoud be able to escape with nature and feel free to wander and express themselves without having to leave the city of their day to day lives. By creating overlapping plates I was able to organize the five main programs (dining, bathing, a library, a place to find peace and sleeping) and create flexability and cohesiveness within them.
