The Suicide of Liberty: The Transformation of the US into a Police State Dr. Paul Craig Roberts Prisonplanet.com October 13, 2011 Review of Pat Buchanan’s latest book Pat Buchanan’s latest book, Suicide of a Superpower, raises the question whether America will survive to 2025. The question might strike some readers as unduly pessimistic and others as optimistic. It is unclear whether the US, as we have known it, will survive its next presidential election. How the Economy Was Lost: The War of the Worlds,” details why America is disintegrating.Consider the candidates. Liberal law professor Jonathan Turley, who was likely to have been an early Obama supporter, now wonders if Obama is “the most disastrous president in our history.” Despite Obama’s failure, the Republicans can’t come up with anyone any better. One Republican candidate admires Alan Greenspan, the Federal Reserve chairman who gave us financial deregulation and the financial crisis. Another is ready for a preemptive strike on Iran. Yet another thinks the Soviet Union is a grave threat to the United States. None of these clueless dopes are capable of presiding over a government.Anyone who has been paying attention knows that the “superpower” is over-extended financially and militarily. The US is currently involved in six conflicts with Syria, Lebanon, Iran, and Pakistan on the waiting list for full fledged military attacks and perhaps invasions. Russia is being encircled with missile bases, and war plans are being drawn up for China.Where is the money going to come from when the country’s debt is bursting at the seams, the economy is in decline, and unemployment on the rise? Washington thinks that the money can simply be printed. However, enough has already been printed that the rest of the world is already suspicious of the dollar and its role as reserve currency. As John Williams has said, the world could begin dumping dollar assets at any time. I don’t think we can dismiss Buchanan’s concern as pessimistic. Buchanan documents his concern across a wide front. For example, the combination of mass
immigration and its consequent demographics together with the “diversity cult” means the end of “white America” and the transformation of what once was the dominant population into a disadvantaged underclass. Buchanan cites a Wall Street Journal article by Ron Unz published 12 years ago. Unz found that white American gentiles who would be considered Christian are dramatically under-represented in America’s elite universities, which provide the elites who dominate government, business, and the professions. Unz reported that white Americans who comprised 70% of the US population made up only 25% of Harvard’s enrollment and that the composition of the student bodies at Yale Princeton Columbia, Berkeley, and Stanford was much the same. Asians who comprised 3% of the US population comprised one-fifth of Harvard’s enrollment, and Jews, who comprised 2.5% of the population comprised between one-fourth and one-third of Harvard’s student body. As Buchanan puts it, the country’s native-born majority has relegated its own progeny to the trash bin of history. Buchanan doesn’t address the question whether the rest of the world will miss white America. Considering the endless wars and astounding hypocrisy and immorality associated with white America since the collapse of the Soviet Union two decades ago, the world is likely to cheer when power slips from the hands of what Leonard Jeffries termed the “ice people,” that is, people without souls or feelings for others. Americans are so wrapped up in the myth of their “exceptionalism” that they are oblivious to the world’s opinion.http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2011/10/11/the_myth_of_american_exceptionalism American soft power, once a foundation of US influence, has been squandered, another reason the “superpower” status is crumbling. Financial deregulation and the consequent financial crisis, collapse of the real estate market, and evictions of millions of Americans from their homes have greatly dimmed America’s economic prospects. However, as Buchanan points out, the offshoring of US jobs and industry under the guise of “free trade” has damaged the middle class, halted the growth in consumer purchasing power and left many college graduates without careers. In the first decade of the 21st century, the Bush/Cheney years, America lost one-third of its manufacturing jobs. During this decade, Michigan lost 48% of its manufacturing jobs, New Jersey lost 39%, and New York and Ohio lost 38%. During this decade, the US incurred trade deficits totaling $6.2 trillion, of which $3.8 trillion is in manufactured goods. In other words, imports of manufactured goods are a larger cause of the trade deficit than oil imports. Early in the decade the US lost its trade surplus in advanced technology products. In recent years the US has run up $300 billion in trade deficits in advanced technology products with China alone. As Macy Block’s site, Economy in Crisis, documents, foreigners have used their huge dollar earnings to buy up American companies, with the
consequence that foreign earnings on US investments now exceed US earnings abroad, thus worsening the current account deficit. Although Buchanan makes many points, this is not his best book. He becomes lost in old arguments that no longer make sense, such as the claim that the poor vote away the property of the rich, and he ignores the destruction of the US Constitution in the name of “the war on terror,” which has transformed the US into a police state. Conservatives are stuck in the canard that democracy is a tool used by the poor to provide themselves with benefits at the expense of the rich. Buchanan cites statistics of those on welfare, food stamps, Medicaid, and so on as evidence that the rich are being plundered. Yet, the facts are the opposite. The distribution of income has completely reversed since the 1960s. In the 1960s, the top 1 percent received 11% of the income gains, and the bottom 90% received 65%, leaving 24% of income gains for the 9% of richest Americans just below the top 1%. In the first decade of the 21st century, these figures have reversed. The top 1% receive 65% of the income gains and the bottom 90% receive 12%, leaving 23% for those rich Americans in the 91-99 percentile. http://www.cbpp.org/cms/index.cfm?fa=view&id=2908 If recent history (Yugoslavia, Soviet Empire) is a guide, Buchanan is probably correct that a country whose population consists of diverse ethnic and racial groups is less likely to share a common interest and enjoy political stability. However real this threat, it is not comparable to the threat to American identity of a destroyed Constitution. The Bush/Cheney/Obama regimes have shredded the constitutional protections that gave American citizens their liberty. By dictate alone, the executive branch has acquired the power, prohibited by the Constitution, to incarcerate citizens indefinitely without presenting evidence and obtaining conviction. According to the US government, a secret executive branch panel now exists that has acquired from somewhere the unaccountable power to put citizens on a list to be assassinated without due process of law merely on the basis of an unproven government assertion. How does this differ from Stalinist Russia and Gestapo Germany? The transformation of the US into a police state has been achieved quickly and with scant protest. Congress and the courts are silent. The media is silent, as are the law schools and bar associations. Out of 535 US Senators and Representatives, only Ron Paul has protested the destruction of liberty. Buchanan is concerned that America might not survive until 2025. Instead, shouldn’t we be concerned that the American police state could last that long? Shouldn’t we be worried that the police state will survive yet another presidential election, or even one more day? Dr. Paul Craig Roberts is the father of Reaganomics and the former head of policy at the Department of Treasury. He is a columnist and was previously an editor for the Wall Street Journal. His latest book, “How the Economy Was Lost: The War of the Worlds,” details why America is disintegrating.
Transparent Lies from the Division of Dumb and Dumber. Well, we knew the day was coming. We knew it was a matter of time and it would probably happen in October a few days, a week, ten days before Palestine went to the UN and laid claim to a small portion of what had always been theirs, until the false nation of Israel stole it in order to set up a criminal enterprise that now has a large part of the world on the brink of; who knows what? Doubt the reality of that? Then reality isn’t a familiar resident in whatever world you have convinced yourself is real. So now, the incredibly corrupt, Eric Holder of Fast and Furious Fame; a division of Dumb and Dumber has come up with a bad network TV shitcom plot of a fabricated event, that actually took place in June, though it probably didn’t even happen then. Oh, let’s go out on a limb and say that none of what’s reported really happened but that whatever happened was constructed by Holder’s neo-con Israeli masters, who pretty much control what remains of the so-called American government, as well as the American economy and that can be seen in the stupendous and outrageous wealth consolidated in the holdings of this small minority of dual nationals in the occupied American territories. Of course, that statement is anti-Semitic due to its being true. Of course, the Israelis had to throw in a fantasy assault on Saudi Arabia because Israel wants that airspace open when they go to attack the Iranians, as one more expression in the expansion of their psychopathic, hegemonic interests in the Middle East which, as far as they are concerned, belongs entirely to them. Iran has no nuclear weapons program and Iran is not at war with her neighbors, while both of these things apply entirely to Israel, to the exclusion of just about everyone else around. It’s desperation time in the US because a small contingent of Satanic greedheads have destroyed the American infrastructure, from manufacturing to the small business industry, while also looting the wealth of the American public AND plunging the country into a series of gratuitous wars, for the economic gain of bankers and merchants of war material. They don’t give a shit and they think you are too stupid to get it and too weak and confused to do anything about it. Every one of the participants should be indicted, hauled into court and then sent packing to some iron bar resort for a long, long time, or in some cases, convicted of capital crimes. Unfortunately, the judiciary of the United States is also owned by the same people doing all this malicious mischief. These soulless husks celebrate their depravity, as they preen and posture in their contempt of you. I don’t know what you’re going to do about it. I don’t know how bad it has to get before you do something about it. Eric Holder is not the only full time employee of Dumb and Dumber. He’s got all kinds of company. It’s hard to imagine what kind of stupidity one has to come into the possession of in order to believe the transparent lies and clumsy gymnastics, of the ones who
manipulate and shear them like the complacent and unresisting sheep that they are. I can’t measure it. I don’t understand it. It is beyond me. There’s no need for me to link any of the information I am talking about today because it’s all over the media, which is also owned by the same people that own everything else. The other side of the story is available in the alternative media that most of you visit every day. So bogus and transparent are the lies being told that they are already hedging their bets by actually using the word ‘alleged’. That won’t likely make any difference because so far, the massive lumbering body of the blind lemming Schmoos is mindlessly marching to the beat of a spastic, dissonant drummer. Within the course of one generation, the people of The West have been reduced to occasionally ambulatory feeding machines, addicted to the darkness of infantile, perfunctory porn and fevered dreams of the nubile forms of their vacuous hypnotized offspring. They eat things that are composed of genetically altered ingredients that are bonded together and combined with chemicals that are often illegal for general use. They saw it on TV and it doesn’t take patience or a brain to prepare it. It’s quick and it hits the various trigger points of their dysfunctional taste buds. It’s no wonder that the predators that put them in this situation can laugh at them and motivate their private police forces to abuse and intimidate them. It’s no wonder that one foolish law follows another and that one more excessive tax after another is applied to chain them ever more tightly in a web of perpetual confinement and increasing desperation. When they look for the reasons for their distress they see each other, or whatever temporary puppet from a party other than the one they support which ripped them off last time. One can only stand apart in awe, trying to imagine how much it will take to wake them up. It all comes down to degrees of trauma and my sensation is that the universe will provide that where it applies. Today, tens of thousands of people, a small minority, are marching in cities around the world, demanding change. The same insidious forces that caused the dramas they are protesting against are seeking to compromise and redirect their attention. Important shills are stepping forth to declare their support for these people. These are some of the shills who have enabled the terrible spectacle of the collapse and disfigurement of cultures here, there and everywhere. Materialism is a cancer that eventually consumes the worshipper. It pulls them down into a hot compressed darkness of unrestrained desire that burns the host into a shell from the inside out. Some numbers of us have been saying these things for a long time and seeking to live in some fashion outside of it for much longer, before the internet gave us a platform for speech. Most of us had no platform or only a small stage, because we were denied a medium for expression. That’s all changed somewhat now but limitations remain. The reason for that is that most people still do not want to hear what needs to be said and continue to believe that the world that whips
their asses from dawn to dusk is giving them the real deal, while it buggers them senseless. What it’s going to take and how long it’s going to take is a continuing mystery and on it goes. The bottom line is that a small group of scoundrels, for whom no crime is out of bounds, have taken control over every facet of public life, including the religions, where mind numbing nonsense, in support of the same interests of the same small group, comes to the same result. The tide slowly turns, to what end we have yet to see. Surely much greater transformations, upheavals and transitions wait ahead. My heart goes out to everyone caught incarnate in these unpredictable times. We can only hope that the forces of evil, discussed in this post, will do what they always do and destroy themselves, whether they accomplish it by their own hands or whether it is carried out by the reactions of another force. Whatever I can do to assist in that is on call throughout the duration. I’m confident of a positive outcome, regardless of what dark roads must be traveled to that end. May providence reward our initiative and endurance.
Republicans Adopt Obama’s “Bad Movie” Iran Terror Plot Kurt Nimmo Infowars.com October 13, 2011 Despite the fact experts on Iran and its Quds force have responded with skepticism to an alleged plot and many have dismissed it as fantasy, a number of establishment politicians are demanding the Obama administration take action. Arizona Senator John McCain lost little time exploiting the unproven plot. He told CBS today that Iran is a “threat” in the Persian Gulf and Obama is to blame for not meddling in Iran’s internal affairs and exploiting the 2009 street protests many believe were orchestrated in color revolution fashion by the CIA to overthrow the government in Tehran. “This kind of reckless behavior they’ve displayed here could translate into a real serious problem,” said McCain, citing Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons program. Although the U.S. and Israel have tried for years to convince the world Iran is secretly working on nuclear weapons, the international community has admitted there is no evidence Iran is doing so.
Another Arizona politician, Rep. Trent Franks, used the dubious plot to attack Obama. “If this effort had been successful, it would have constituted an act of war against the United States of America, and it should demonstrate Iran’s true intentions toward America in the clearest possible terms, even to this administration,” Franks said on Wednesday. He called for a military response to the alleged assassination plot. “If they are committed enough to try to foment an attack here, and literally try to blow up the Israeli embassy here, or kill the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the U.S., let me suggest to you that the intent is so clear that our entire focus now should be upon dealing with the capacity,” he said. “Perhaps this president would do better if he were able to focus on the threats of our nation without being so busy apologizing for American at every opportunity.” Speaking from the House Floor Wednesday night, House Republicans said the Obama administration needs to take immediate action. “This event that has occurred should tell us a lot of things,” declared Texas Republican Ted Poe. “One, that the country of Iran is so bold that they believe they can commit a crime of terror on the soil of the United States and get away with it.”“It is a real concern when you’re talking about 1,200 miles of border between the United States and Mexico, that someone would have a plan to invade our country and take control of those border counties,” Rep. John Carter, another Texan Republican, added. “I would call that invasion.” Not to be left behind in the rush to exaggerate the dubious plot, Texas governor Rick Perry mentioned the imaginary plot from the campaign trail in Indiana and linked it to border security. He said the supposed plot is “business as usual” for Iran. Establishment Tea Party diva Michele Bachmann also weighed in. “If I was president I wouldn’t have taken my eye of the number one issue in the Middle East, which is Iran obtaining nuclear weapons. The problem with the Obama administration is they put serious daylight between Israel and the United States from day one of the Obama presidency, so the president unfortunately sent signals of weakness,” Bachmann told CNN. Republicans received support from hysterical Democrats. Senator Dianne Feinstein of California said Congress needs to investigate the supposed plot. “There may be a chain of these things,” she speculated. “I think we need to explore whether there are other plots going on into other countries.” Feinstein chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee. As should be expected, the corporate media by and large is falling in line with the desperate effort to demonize Iran. A Washington Post editorial today admits there is skepticism about the alleged threat and states “it is certainly prudent to reserve final judgment until all the facts of the case are known.” It then dismisses the skepticism and states “the alleged plot is not a large leap from Tehran’s past acts” and concludes whatever “the cause, the scheme’s discovery should serve as a warning of the escalating threat posed by Iran — and the need to act more forcefully against it.”
