Fab City: We, as signatories, commit ourselves to implement the ten following principles to enable the urban transition towards locally productive and globally connected cities. Understand Digital Fabrication and its circularity 1: ECOLOGICAL We take an integrated approach to environmental stewardship, working towards a zero-emission future while also preserving biodiversity, rebalancing the nutrient cycle, and sustaining natural resources.
2: INCLUSIVE We promote equitable and inclusive policy co-design, through the development of a Commons Approach, regardless of age, gender, income-levels and capabilities.
3: GLOCALISM We encourage global knowledge sharing between cities and territories in order to provide access to tools and solutions that could be adapted to local cultures and needs.
4: PARTICIPATORY We engage with all stakeholders in decision-making processes and empower citizens to take ownership of innovation and change-making.
5: ECONOMIC GROWTH & EMPLOYMENT We support sustainable urban economic growth by investing in building the skills, infrastructure and policy frameworks needed for the 21st century, thanks to a thorough consideration of social and environmental externalities and the implementation of the polluter pays principle.
6: LOCALLY PRODUCTIVE We support the efficient and shared use of all local available resources in a circular economy approach, to build a productive and vibrant city
7: PEOPLE-CENTRED We give priority to people and culture over technology, so that the city can become a living and resilient ecosystem. Autonomous vehicles, digital tools, artificial intelligence and robotic machines must be placed at the service of the people’s well-being and expectations.
8: HOLISTIC We address urban issues in all their dimension and interdependencies to build sustainable, resilient and inclusive cities for everyone.
9: OPEN SOURCE PHILOSOPHY We foster a Digital Commons Approach that adheres to open source principles and values open data, in order to stimulate innovation and develop shared solutions between cities and territories.

provocation 強引に「ループを閉じる」プロジェクトが乱発する可能性や、現実の複雑さをふまえ終われないリアルプロジェ クト(how to close loops for complex real problems)に大学はどう対峙するのか？ インターネット上の社会と実社会がどう重なり合いサーキュラーな文化 (The Stack-based circularity)は生ま れるのか？インターネット上では受動的なサービスのユーザである市民は、自律的に文化をつくりだせるの か？ self-sufficieny（自己充足性）は、オフショアリングを行なってきた企業文化を批評・批判し、 市民の自助・互助や自治体レベルでの問題解決をはかる思想 (self-sufficiency as a new conceptual framework or a business model)になるのか、あるいはビジネス用語として回収される宿命か？ IAACの実践は魅力的に見える一方、「建築家」的な意思も見え隠れする。つまりシム・シティのように都市計 画にサーキュラーな視点を盛り込む「提案」をしているようにも見えるが、「建築的全能性」 (architectural omnipotence）はサーキュラー・ソサエティにとってどれくらい有用／危険なものか？ 「サーキュラー」をサステナブルにするには、いびつでもループを閉じ流れが生まれ続いていくこと、すなわち１ 巡りするだけではなく２巡、３巡 (multiple circulation for sustainable circular design)していくことが必要 ではないか。とすると、どのくらいの時間軸を見ることが必要なのか？
Discussions on the Circular Society/Economy/Design
provocation discursive（議論を呼び起こすデザイン）、 experimental（実験的な技術主導のデザイン）や socially responsible（社会問題の解決を目指すデザイン）、そして commercial designとBruce Tharpは 『Discursive Design』 において近年のデザインを整理している。他方、シミュレーション結果や理論的仮説な どにもとづき「統治」したがる総合的学術領域（アルゴリズムによる統治、空間構成による統治、資本による統 治、生態系構築による統治）などがある。これらの総合的学術領域の活動をデザインは本当に調停できるの か、そこにはどのような「デザイナー」が求められているのか、それを名づけるとしたら、どんな名前か？ （who is it that is responsible for design of holistic ecosystem governance?) 予測不可能性（外因性の問題、例えば国際政治など）をも盛り込んだループの閉じ方がよく見えないが、どれく らいループは Self-Sufficientになるのか？ビジネスの観点から「利益が見込めない」ので撤退する、となって も持続する堅固なループをつくるには、より曖昧な「文化」そのものをデザインすることになるのか？また、「社 会」が準安定状態であり、そこに参加する人は流動的であるなら、どのように「サーキュラー社会」そのものは デザイン可能なのか？生命的挙動、予測不可能性をデザインすることは可能か？ （what is it we are designing for, design for vulnerable, fluid and mobile society? culture?）
