Back in 2006, a group of Downtown Alpharetta merchants started the Farmers Market. It was initially held under the old oak tree in the city parking lot to offer residents an opportunity to purchase local farm fresh food and gather to enjoy the area. Farmers would display their goods in the back of their pick-up trucks and stay and socialize until there wasn’t anything left to sell. Since then, the Market has grown and developed into a Saturday morning destination for people from all over the North Fulton area, surrounding counties, and even Atlanta and the North Georgia mountains. Since its early days, Market goers have consistently voted the Alpharetta Farmers Market as a top Market in the area. The Market has received multiple years’ awards including “Best of North Atlanta,” “Best of North Fulton and South Forsyth,” and “Best Neighborhood Farmers Market.” In addition, the Market remains a great way to experience the Alpharetta community, local shops, restaurants, and to meet new people, friends, and neighbors.
