What could be more comforting than a steaming bowl of soup on a chilly afternoon? Late harvest vegetables pulled straight from your garden, of course! The classic pairing of carrot and onion in this brightly hued bowl is pumped up with a kick of fresh ginger. Finishing with coconut milk instead of cream keeps this soup vegan while achieving a superbly silky consistency.

At A Legendary Event, we know people “eat first with their eyes. Color and texture add so much to these dishes. The impactful accent of bright greens and edible flower petals invite you to swipe a bite of buttery sea bass through a river of citrus vinaigrette. Would a stack of tomato slices be as tempting if they were all uniform in color? The unexpected crunch of the fried green tomato sandwiched between grilled, Vidalia onion and creamy goat cheese makes for a more interesting perfect bite!

The Bourbon Pecan Pie from A Legendary Event’s Executive Pastry Chef Ami Dand Pie Dough 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 stick cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch pieces 1/4 teaspoon salt 3 to 5 tablespoons ice water Blend together flour, butter, and salt in a bowl with your fingertips, pastry blender (or pulse in a food processor) just until mixture resembles coarse meal with some roughly pea-size butter lumps. Drizzle 3 tablespoons ice water evenly over mixture and gently stir with a fork (or pulse in processor) until incorporated. Squeeze a small handful: If it doesn’t hold together, add more ice water, 1/2 tablespoon at a time, stirring (or pulsing) until incorporated, then test again. Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface and divide into 4 portions. Press with your hands to combine dough and distribute butter, press into a 5-inch disk. Chill, wrapped in plastic wrap, until firm, at least 1 hour.
Pie Filling 3/4 stick unsalted butter 1 1/4 cups packed light brown sugar 3/4 cup light corn syrup Seeds of 1 vanilla bean 3 Tbsp bourbon 1/4 teaspoon salt 3 large eggs 2 cups pecan halves (1/2 pound) Preheat oven to 350°F with a baking sheet on middle rack. Roll out one 5” disc of pie dough on a lightly floured surface with a lightly floured rolling pin into a 12-inch round and fit into a 9-inch pie plate. Trim edge, leaving a 1/2-inch overhang. Fold overhang under and lightly press against rim of pie plate, then crimp decoratively. Lightly prick bottom all over with a fork. Chill until firm, at least 30 minutes (or freeze 10 minutes). While crust is chilling, melt butter in a small heavy saucepan over medium heat. Add brown sugar, and corn syrup whisking until smooth. Remove from heat, whisk in vanilla bean seeds, bourbon, and salt. Lightly beat eggs in a medium bowl, then whisk in corn syrup mixture.

A
t A Legendary Event, we are dedicated to sustainability and keeping the holidays eco-friendly.
Laura Turner Seydel, international environmental advocate and eco-living expert, joins her landscape designer, Ed Castro, CEO and founder of Ed Castro Landscape, in sharing some holiday tips from EcoManor, the “home ‘green’ home” of Laura and her family. The first LEED-certified-Gold residence in the Southeast, EcoManor was conceptualized by Laura and Rutherford. For Laura’s ‘green’ landscape vision, the couple enlisted the help of Rutherford’s college friend Ed Castro, who became a key part of Laura’s environmental dream team. Inspired by the best practices in the environmental world and with Laura leading the way, Ed created an efficient, low-maintenance, eco-driven design. He worked his magic by incorporating water harvesting, irrigation systems, seasonal bursts of color, flowering plants, native trees, shrubs and even a wildlife sanctuary certified by National Wildlife Federation. Wildlife, including honey bees and butterflies, are drawn to the native flowers laden with pollen. Two kinds of clover were incorporated to honor the various species that call the Seydel’s yard home. No pest or weed chemicals are used.
“We have Laura and Rutherford Seydel to thank for raising the standards of the environmental world,” says Ed. “Laura is an authority on the topic, and we owe the Seydels a huge debt of gratitude for their ongoing leadership and dedication.” Ed Castro Laura and Rutherford’s EcoManor philosophy teaches us to make the holidays greener. Even the birds and the bees benefit. As the Seydels and Ed Castro agree, “The best gifts of all are the ones that put Mother Nature first on your guest list!”

with natural materials – holly branches, fresh cotton, fallen branches, seasonal fruit and winter berries make beautiful décor.
Buy a “cut” Christmas tree. Nearly all cut Christmas trees were grown on tree farms — which means their stock is replenished yearly and forests aren’t depleted. If you do not have curbside recycling drop off your tree at a Home Depot location, “One for the Chipper” and they will turn your tree into mulch. Castro adds, “These cut Christmas trees are a wonderful renewable resource, can be composted and a great way to recycle.” Shop for holiday gifts that don’t require batteries. Nearly 40 percent of all battery sales occur during the holidays. Eventually, worn out batteries end up in the landfill where they leach toxic metals into the soil and groundwater.

Make edible arrangements of winter veggies that grow in your winter garden. Ed added, “Edible plants can be very ornamental and beautiful inside and outdoors.” Let Mother Nature benefit Mother Nature by composting since 1/3 of what goes to the landfill is organics. Thank you Laura and Ed!

A Vibrant Wedding In Bloom” It was the wedding of the season for the effervescent couple, Alison Bloom and Tim Crawford
Photography by Denis Reggie
A
lison, the daughter of Sandra and Dan Baldwin, envisioned a spring wedding that was colorful and yet elegant. With over 6,000 cherry blossoms woven through a magnificent garland arbor and the manicured lush ceremony grounds of The Estate, this wedding was destined to be distinctive. Incorporating seasonal fruits and lush flowers, an array of colorful kumquats and garden variety roses added a spectacular symphony of color. Bright orange flowers with accents of pink, fuchsia and yellow matched the bride’s outgoing personality and created a once-in-a-lifetime event. As Legendary Event’s team of talent transformed The Estate, the wedding also surprised guests with an enchanted secret garden along with an evening of surprises. The bride’s vision for her fairytale wedding was extraordinary. Brilliant orange with accents of yellow, fuchsia and pink was the color pallet of choice to reflect her love of color. Over 200 family members and friends joined the couple as they said “I do”, and her wedding dream came true as she walked out of the front doors of the antebellum home sitting on three lush acres. Alison gracefully walked down the aisle to meet her dashing groom under an arbor of pretty cherry blossoms. Guests were instantly awed as the wedding continued. Following the ceremony, they entered The Estate and sipped a specialty kumquat cocktail out of an orange and white striped straw, which complemented the evening’s theme. The wedding glowed with LED lights which lit up the bars in fuchsia, orange along with yellow paper lanterns hanging above for a touch of fun. As guests entered the gorgeous ballroom for the reception, each place setting featured a customized menu with the couple’s monogram and the reception courses. Not a detail was missed, as this wedding was simply spectacular from start to finish. With a year of detailed and organized planning, this “Wedding in Bloom” was memorable and Legendary, just the way the bride and her family had envisioned!
“Looking to mother nature, the colors and fruit of the season inspired us in designing a centerpiece for this Legendary Bride.” Jeanna Graham, Legendary’s Floral Designer

The Estate was the chosen setting for their special event and sparkled as the chandeliers elegantly reflected on the mirror tables and crystal champagne flutes overflowed throughout the evening. The venue’s southern elegance blended with a contemporary flair highlighted a meticulously styled over the top culinary experience and a stunning party that wow’d and delighted every guest in attendance. The evening’s finely tuned feast and the overall effect was absolutely breathtaking. Every detail of this lavishly stunning evening was a true reflection of the love shared between the beautiful guests of honor. From the moment each guest received their spectacular invitation – created by Harrison Rohr – until they were dropped off at their residence in an individual town car, the details that this night had to offer will be talked about for years to come. A Legendary Event’s goal was to blend the existing southern elegance of The Estate with contemporary “wow factors” and compliment the décor with an unforgettable evening for this beloved couple under the maticulous eye of Ms. Longman. Champagne and purple striped satin drapery combined with mirrored tables centered with full, tall floral displays that showcased gorgeous purple orchids accomplished this look. Beautiful ice sculptures with fresh sushi and caviar, a delicious five-course dinner paired with champagne and unique mouth-watering individual birthday cakes created an over the top culinary experience that guests raved about all night long. Each place setting received an exquisite pearl white and gold foil round menu card done in calligraphy that honored the couple and featured the celebration dinner courses with the champagne pairings. The mouth-watering celebration dinner featured five courses, each paired with different champagnes. The first course served was slightly warmed rosemary and lime sea bass surrounded by citrus vinaigrette and petals of edible flowers. Next, guests enjoyed hand formed pillows of ravioli, delicately stuffed with Norwegian smoked salmon, goat cheese and finished with watercress pesto. With its subtle tanginess

and refined finish, the 2004 Moët Chandon Brut Rosè was deliciously paired with the ravioli. For the intermezzo course, a champagne sorbet served in a custom carved ice presentation, which sat atop a hydrangea leaf with crystallized ginger was served. Each place setting featured a beautiful four pound Maine steamed lobster cooked to order and served out of the shell with vanilla scented butter and a bundle of jumbo white & green asparagus for the main course. The anniversary and birthday celebration was certainly an evening everyone will remember for years to come. We wish The Longmans a long and happy, healthy life together. eave it to Atlanta’s Legendary NBC affiliate Anchorwoman, Brenda Wood and her gorgeous daughter, Kandis to create a wedding so glamorous and gorgeous, it was absolutely breathtaking. That’s how guests felt when they arrived at Kandis’s and Adam’s stunning wedding which was a floral fantasy and elegant affair.
From the moment the first guests arrived, the ambiance was pure southern hospitality at its very finest. Guests were greeted by a handsome valet team and escorted into the venue in style. A fully draped entrance was framed by classical southern style stone urns full of lush flowers overflowing with hydrangea and roses. Guests in attendance walked down a softly lit walkway to the ceremony, which was set in the atrium of the venue.
Ivory drapery was used to create that surprise element when those in attendance were seated for the ceremony. Three large archways covered in a magnificent burst of 3,000 branches of local dogwood and magnolia branches created the gorgeous aisle filled with white rose petals which created the path for the bride to her groom. The gourmet dinner was catered by A Legendary Event. The bride and groom and their families radiated with pure joy. A Legendary Event was so proud to help design this vision of elegance for this elegant and beautiful bride and her handsome groom. Congratulations and our best wishes always!

It was the Sunday before Christmas and these high school sweethearts attended the light show at the Botanical Gardens with plans to meet friends after at a local restaurant. Little did Theresa know, Andrew was about to change her life. While walking over a gorgeous bridge in West Midtown, Andrew surprised her and got down on one knee and proposed. Even better, he had a photographer hidden around the corner capturing this special moment. Theresa and Andrew married this past September with a gorgeous reception at The Estate. Stunning chandeliers illuminated the entire ballroom, floral decor overflowed with white hydrangea and they had a Legendary wedding that was memorable and magical.

Ali Lauren Spizman & Marc Garfinkel Engagement Date: 07.16.13 | Wedding Date: 12.13.14 The tables turned and I was the “she” who said yes! Meeting my fiance Marc was “serendipitious.” As the old saying goes, you meet your match when you’re not looking. That’s exactly what happened. Our long distance relationship evolved and after dozens of back and forth trips, Marc relocated to Atlanta. It was only a matter of time before I would marry the man of my dreams. Marc proposed on a weekday in the middle of July. It was a wellplanned, detailed eight-hour scavenger hunt. Our love for the New York Time’s bestselling book “Life’s Little Instruction Book” by H. Jackson Brown, Jr. played a role in Marc’s clues which guided me all over Atlanta. Each detailed instruction prompted and pampered me to prepare for the moment of my dreams. From breakfast and lunch with family, to a manicure and even my best friends surprising me along the way to pick out an engagement outfit to wear, this special treasure-hunt, life-instruction filled day culminated into a very romantic moment and proposal. The final clue sent me to The Estate and waiting in the gorgeous ballroom was Marc with a rose, bottle of champagne and our song by Bruce Springsteen playing in the background. He got down on one knee and made me the happiest girl in the world!
