Cricket In Johns Creek

LPGA In Johns Creek

The sport of Cricket is gaining tremendous popularity in Johns Creek and meeting the demands of our diverse population. Thanks to the work of the Johns Creek Cricket Association (JCCricket), we now have the first of its kind Cricket Batting Cages, Cricket Pitches and Electronic Cricket Scoreboard at Shakerag Park. The upcoming Cauley Creek Park is also expected to have multiple adult Cricket Fields.

June 22-27, 2021

JCCricket’s goal of making Johns Creek a destination city for Cricket in the Southeast USA is underway. JCCricket’s Youth Program has over 125 athletes from ages 4 to 15. The Georgia High School Cricket, administered by JCCricket, has eight high schools participating, including Northview and Johns Creek. Johns Creek Panthers, Women’s Cricket, is also attracting many talented athletes. The inaugural Johns Creek Cricket Festival will be held on October 9th and 10th at Shakerag Park. The festival will be an opportunity to celebrate the second biggest sport in the world with Cricket matches, food and music.

The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship has built on the history and tradition of the LPGA Championship, which began in 1955 and is the second-oldest major in women’s golf. The Championship is one of the LPGA’s five majors and a unique collaboration of the PGA of America, the LPGA, and KPMG. More than a decade in, the Championship continues with the shared mission to help future generations of women be more successful on and off the golf course.

The Setting

The rich history of Atlanta Athletic Club as the home club for Bobby Jones makes a great setting for the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. The Highlands Course at Atlanta Athletic Club is a stern test of Championship golf. A legacy design from the Jones family, the Highlands was first designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and since renovated by Rees Jones (most recently in 2016).

The national park is open for fishing from 30 minutes before sunrise until 30 minutes after sunset. Night fishing is not permitted in the park. Review all park fishing regulations. RIVER ADVISORY: Lake Lanier water releases can make the Chattahoochee River dangerous The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which manages Lake Lanier, typically releases water from Buford Dam during weekday afternoons unless there are unusual downstream water demands or especially heavy rains. In those situations, unscheduled water releases can come in the morning and on weekends. The Corps does try to give some notice before releasing water downstream from the lake. Find out about releases by calling 770-945-1466 or by listening to 1610 AM on the radio. River users may also go to http://water.sam.usace.army.mil/todaySched.htm to see the daily schedule for releases (see the Buford column). Four warning sirens have been placed between Buford Dam and State Road 20. The water release will occur within minutes after the sirens stop.
